Biloxi Shuckers 2021 Game Notes Biloxi Shuckers 2021 Game Notes Double-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers MGM Park, 105 Caillavet St, Biloxi, MS 39530 Contact - Garrett Greene Cell: (817) 937-9572 Home Games can be heard on WGCM 1240-AM, FM 100.9 FM Streak: L2 Last 5: 2-3 Last 10: 4-6 Home Record: 6-6 Road Record: 4-9 Biloxi Shuckers (10-15) vs.Montgomery Biscuits (9-15) RHP Noah Zavolas (1-1, 4.08) vs. RHP Caleb Sampen (0-1, 8.62) Wednesday, June 2 ● 6:35 P.M. ● Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium ● Montgomery, AL ● Game #26 / Road Game #14 Last Time Out: Ethan Small struck out a career-high 11 batters over five one-hit innings and Cam Devanney went 3-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, but a go-ahead grand slam by Ford Proctor in a five-run bottom of the 8th helped the Biscuits top the Shuckers 5-2. At the Plate: Brice is Nice: Brice Turang homered for the first time as a member of the Shuckers on Saturday night, launching a three-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning... It was part of a 3-for-5 night where Turang recorded 4 RBI’s and came up a triple shy of the cycle... His 4 RBI’s was a new career high for the 2018 first-round pick... Since May 15, Turang is slashing .333/.385/.450, 2 2B, 3B, HR, 8 RBI, 8 R, 5-7 SB... He has also hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games. Cam Can: Cam Devanney went 3-for-4 and came up a triple shy of the cycle on Tuesday against Montgomery... Devanney launched his first home run at Double-A, a solo shot in the seventh, his first home run since 9/2/19 @ Grand Junction while with the Rocky Mountain Vibes. Good Eye: Biloxi drew a franchise-record 16 walks against the Barons on May 6... They did fall short of the Southern League record for walks in a game (19 - Huntsville vs. Columbus 4/20/89)... The Shuckers 13 walks in the 6th inning is more than the record for base on balls in a single inning in both the American League (11 - Yankees in ‘49) and National League (9 - Cincinnati in ‘57)... Every batter drew at least one walk in the 6th as Biloxi sent 18 men to the plate against four differnt Barons pitchers... The lone hit of the inning was a 2 RBI single by Brice Turang. On the Mound: It’s a Small World: Ethan Small set a new career-high with 11 strikeouts on Tuesday night against Montgomery, including 7 straight strikeouts from the end of the 1st through the 3rd... Small came one strikeout shy of tying the Shuckers single-game record of 12 (Alec Bettinger and Bowden Francis - ‘19, Freddy Peralta - ‘17, Taylor Jungmann - ‘16). (Not So) Grand Slam: Zach Vennaro surrendered a go-ahead grand slam to the Biscuits with two-outs in the eighth inning on Tuesday night... It was the second go-ahead grand slam allowed by the Shuckers in their last four games as Pensacola hit a go-ahead grand slam in the ninth inning on Friday night... Biloxi has allowed 38 home runs this year, tied for the seventh most in all of Minor League Baseball (1st - Las Vegas: 48) and the most in Double-A... This season, Biloxi is 9-2 when leading after the 7th... In 2019, the Shuckers were 65-1 when leading after the 7th. No-Hitter!: Ethan Small, Zach Vennaro, Nathan Kirby and Matt Hardy combined to toss nine no-hit innings against the Mississippi Braves on 5/15.. Small tossed the first five innings, striking out six in the longest outing of his career, picking up his first win.... It is the second no-hitter in Shuckers’ history, after Biloxi no-hit the Tennessee Smokies on 8/15/17 in Game 2 of doubleheader, with four pitchers (Hiram Burgos, Forrest Snow, Nick Ramirez, Jorge Lopez) combining to blank the Smokies in a 1-0 win. Caught in the Webb: After recorded his first save of the season on Thursday night, Braden Webb allowed a go-ahead grand slam in the top of the ninth inning on Friday night vs. Pensacola... The grand slam ended a streak of six straight scoreless appearance, spanning 7.2 innings.... Webb appeared in four of the Shuckers six games against the Blue Wahoos and leads the Double-A South in appearances (11). What’s Shuckin: International Duty: INF Luis Castro and OF Alexander Palma are on the temporary inactive list as they are away from the team playing with the Venezuelan National Team for Olympic Qualifiers... The Ven- ezuelan National Team picked up a 6-5 win over Cuba on Monday, a 3-2 walk-off win over Columbia on Tuesday will play Canada on Wednesday (12 pm CST). #ShuckersInTheShow: Ten players from the 2019 Biloxi Shuckers have made their Major League debut: Anthony Bender (Miami), Alec Bettinger (Brewers), Mario Feliciano (Brewers), Trent Grisham (Brewers), Angel Perdomo (Brewers), Cody Ponce (Pirates), Drew Rasmussen (Brewers), Corey Ray (Brewers), Justin Topa (Brewers), and Devin Williams (Brewers)...
