Phleum Commutatum and Ph. Rhaeticum (Poaceae) in the Eastern Alps: Characteristics and Distribution List of Seen Specimens
Phleum commutatum and Ph. rhaeticum (Poaceae) in the Eastern Alps: Characteristics and Distribution List of Seen Specimens By Kurt ZERNIG Abteilung für Botanik, Landesmuseum Joanneum, Raubergasse 10, A-8010 Graz, e-mail: [email protected] Published May 9, 2005 For details see: Phyton (Horn, Austria) 45 (1): 65–79. Summary The two species of Phleum alpinum group – Ph. commutatum GAUDIN and Ph. rhaeticum (HUMPHRIES) RAUSCHERT – were investigated. They can be differentiated morphologically by the presence (Ph. rhaeticum) or absence (Ph. commutatum) of ciliae on the awns on the glumes. But this character turned out to be insufficient for populations which have one or few cilia on the base of awns. Some other morphological characters were tested, if and to what extent, they provide additional features to facilitate correct determination. The length of the anthers shows distinct differences between the two species: anthers of Ph. commutatum are (0.6) 0.7–1.2 (1.3) mm long, while those of Ph. rhaeticum measure (1.0) 1.3–2.0 (2.3) mm. Collection sites of more than 1200 revised herbarium specimens are localized and shown in dot maps. Ph. rhaeticum is very common and frequent in the central and southern regions of the Eastern Alps, towards the north it becomes rarer. It prefers pastures in the subalpine and alpine belt. Ph. commutatum, in contrast, grows especially in the alpine belt of the Central Alps, there forming part of the snow-bed vegetation. Towards the north it becomes more common, where it grows in moderate altitudes from 1500 m upwards. -
Alpine Nature 2030 Creating [Ecological] Connectivity for Generations to Come // Alpine Nature 2030 // Creating [Ecological] Connectivity for Generations to Come
Alpine Nature 2030 Creating [ecological] connectivity for generations to come // Alpine Nature 2030 // Creating [ecological] connectivity for generations to come Cover picture Lech Valley in Tyrol, Austria (August 2016) provides an excellent example of an intact landscape supporting ecological connectivity. The Lech valley straddles the countries of Austria (Bundesländer of Voralberg and Tyrol) and Germany (the Allgäu, Bavaria) repre- senting one of the last natural riverine systems of the Alps. The three environmental ‘milieus’ (terrestrial, aquatic and aerial habi- tats) are all represented within this landscape. Connectivity is required in each of these spaces if wild life and biodiversity are to be safeguarded, and our generation has a responsibility to protect this precious resource for those generations to come. Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis of Different Rhodiola Rosea
Scientia Pharmaceutica Article Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis of Different Rhodiola rosea Rhizome Extracts by UHPLC-DAD-ESI-MSn Fabian Alperth 1, Ivana Turek 1, Sandra Weiss 1, Dietmar Vogt 2 and Franz Bucar 1,* 1 Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Graz, Universitätsplatz 4, 8010 Graz, Austria; [email protected] (F.A.); [email protected] (I.T.); [email protected] (S.W.) 2 Phytagoras, 9020 Klagenfurt, Austria; [email protected] * Correspondence: [email protected]; Tel.: +43-316-380-5531 Received: 14 February 2019; Accepted: 26 March 2019; Published: 29 March 2019 Abstract: Rhodiola rosea has been used in folk medicine as ethanolic macerates for a long time. This study aims to provide a quantitative and qualitative analysis and comparison of different ethanolic Rhodiola rosea rhizome macerates (35%, 70%, and 96% v/v) and accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) extracts prepared with 85% methanol, in order to shed light on the effectivity of different extraction methods. Extract samples were analyzed by UHPLC-DAD-ESI-MSn on a ZORBAX SB-C18 column (100 2.1 mm, 1.8 µm) with a mobile phase consisting of water + × 0.1% formic acid and acetonitrile. Qualitative analysis lead to the tentative identification of 18 compounds: Two cyanogenic glycosides (rhodiocyanoside A, lotaustralin), three phenylethanoids (salidroside, viridoside, 2-phenylethyl-vicianoside), two procyanidin and catechin derivatives (epigallocatechin-epigallocatechin gallate, epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate), five phenylpropanoids (cinnamyl alcohol, rosarin, rosavin, rosin, cinnamyl-(6’-O-β-d-xylopyranosyl)-O-β-glucopyranoside), two monoterpene alcohols (rhodioloside E, rosiridin) and four flavonols (rhodionidin, rhodiosin, rhodionin, kaempferol). -

GBBT 2013 Achtergrond Informatie
GBBT 2013 Achtergrond informatie Klimaat Oostenrijk kent drie verschillende klimaten.
