They were designed by Doug Peterson who designed many great cruising boats and built in the Shin Fa boatyard where structural integrity and craftsmanship were key goals and when graceful lines and structural integrity were standard in better quality boats. In today's boat building world of plastic and more plastic, it is a pleasure to offer such a vessel as this sailing, cruising platform. Liberty is built by Shin Fa in Taiwan, a respected boat builder of the times, not so long ago. If you love boats, you will surely agree with the warm polished teak, bronze ports – sumptuous amenities including china cabinets for libations, romantic lighting, and all the elegance of times almost gone, but not yet gone! The cabin boasts extensive use of hand rubbed teak, recently refinished teak and holly sole, warm interior lighting, strategically placed deck prisms for natural light, recently refinished and recently re­caulked teak decks. All of the interior bulkheads are covered with solid teak vertical staving. All ceilings as well as the hullsides have solid horizontal teak battens. There are marble counter tops in the heads. Turned solid teak banisters and thick handrails on either side of the companionway steps give you the first indication of what you are about to enter. Living aboard is comfortable with excessive amounts of storage throughout the vessel, a very useable sea galley that boasts marble countertops a refrigerator/freezer and three burner range and oven. The huge aft stateroom has magnificent storage, a raised queen bed with new memory foam mattress and a head with shower. Opening ports starboard and port create excellent ventilation. The gorgeous cabinetry abounds with a full length hanging locker, drawers and great storage everywhere. We are pleased to present this very well kept and upgraded yacht to those who seek quality and seaworthiness. Equipment: Tanks: Fresh Water Tanks: (240 Gallons) Fuel Tanks: (165 Gallons) Holding Tanks: 50 gallon forward head/ 23 gallon aft head Accommodations: Australis features a highly livable interior that works well for long term passagemaking or living aboard. The aft stateroom is one of the best we've seen in a boat this size. It features a fore and aft queen, huge vented hanging lockers, shelves, cabinets, and drawers. There is an ensuite head with shower and marble counters. The aft stateroom (with new memory foam mattress) is separated from the rest of the boat by the pass­thru where you find the nav station outboard and engine room access inboard along as well as the electrical panels. A workbench with drawers is in the pass­thru and is a great place for boat projects. The galley adjoins the saloon but is out of the way of foot traffic. Natural light gives the area a light airy feel. An Espar diesel furnace supplies heat for the entire cabin. The saloon has air conditioning. Forward of the saloon is a the guest stateroom that is very private with a second head forward. The forward (2016) and aft head (2010) have been replaced and all of the sanitation hoses have been replaced. Teak and Holly Soles refinished in 2010 Galley Australis has a very usable and comfortable galley. The marble counter tops are lovely and the deep stainless sinks will be appreciated by all. Twenty­ five North American champions have been crowned, and countless sailors from the America's Cup on down have raced the 'Fish at some point. Few had the vantage points that Jack Evans had. The scoreboard shows he garnered four Sailfish national titles between 1967 and 1970, was runner up at the 1974 Force 5 North Americans, won the first Super Sunfish North American Championship in 1975, sailed the C-Ciass catamaran, Weathercock, at the 1972 Little America's Cup in Australia, and, of course, earned the right to sail with a silver Sunfish on his sail at the 1972 North Americans at Sayville. Evans gained another perspective through his work " wearing many hats" at Alcort from 1969-1977, most notably as Class Secretary from 1969-1975. He later went on to: design and market the Phantom, become a Regional Sales Representative for Hobie, write the book " Techniques of One-Design Rac­ ing, " and testify in a Congressional hearing on the merits of Micron 33 while working at International Paint, Inc. Currently, he is employed by Beckson Marine, Inc. in Bridgeport, Connecticut. ) caught up with Jack at the 1988 New York Boat Show and later at his home in Guilford, Connecticut, reuniting after a "few" years. The lakes have dramatically impacted the social, economic and political history of the North American continent. The National Museum of the Great Lakes tells the incredible story of our Great Lakes through over 300 genuine artifacts, a number of powerful audiovisual displays and 40 hands-on interactive exhibits including the Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Ship. The tales told here span hundreds of years, from the fur traders in the 1600s to the Underground Railroad operators in the 1800s, the rum runners in the 1900s, to the sailors on the thousand-footers sailing today.
