It’s the story of Bobby Child, a stage-struck NYC banker who heads to desolate Deadrock, Nevada to foreclose a rundown theater. It’s love at first sight when he runs into spunky Polly Baker, the theater owner’s daughter, who doesn’t realize he’s the heartless businessman she’s vowed to get even with. Based on the 1930 musical Girl Crazy with a book by Ken Ludwig, this Gershwin extravaganza is filled with song, dance, and hilarious dialogue. Audiences will be swept up in this artfully constructed tale of boy meeting girl in the Wild West, where they spread goodness and ultimately fall in love. What he isn’t prepared for are the local laws - including a ban on dancing - which are the brainchild of a local preacher bent on exercising control over the town’s youths. When the Reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her heart on Ren, her boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation and many of the locals are eager to believe the worst about the new kid. From the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind. Her story was recently told in the Oscar-nominated film starring Meryl Streep, and now she appears on the Lyceum stage with her hapless accompanist, Cosme McMoon. Souvenir is a charming and hilarious comedy that reminds us that you can achieve anything when you set your mind to it. One hotel suite, four tenors, two wives, three girlfriends, and a soccer stadium filled with screaming fans. What could possibly go wrong? It’s 1930’s Paris and the stage is set for the concert of the century—as long as producer Henry Saunders can keep Italian superstar Tito Merelli and his hot-blooded wife Maria from causing runaway chaos.     From the Warden: 2000 in review The last year has been another year of remarkable achievement The Foundation Studies Program (FSP) has had record student at Trinity. As well as securing good — in many cases, outstanding numbers in 2000 — at present there are 671 students preparing — academic results, our resident students have: for undergraduate study, and (in a trial program) over 60 preparing • won the Holmes Shield for women's intercollegiate sport; for postgraduate study. Despite our record numbers, steering • won the Cowan Cup for men's intercollegiate sport for the Foundation Studies through a very uncertain environment in third year in a row, the first time any College has done this; international education is a major challenge for the leadership and of the College. • won the new Intercollegiate Shield for the Arts.
