Here are some activities to try during the spring season. SPRING HAS SPRUNG CATEGORIES: Brainstorm with your child. How many examples of the following can you think of together? Your children can help you name them, write them down or even collect pictures and make a spring book. • kinds of bugs • things you see in the sky • things that grow in the garden • toys you play with outside • clothes you wear in the spring • baby animals on a farm • things that are green • flavors of ice cream • kinds of fruits • foods that start with “s”

HIDE AND SEEK – Hide objects associated with spring for your child to find (e.g. umbrella, sidewalk chalk etc.) Talk about where they were hidden. Use words with your child to help them describe the location such as “on the…” “under the…” “behind the….”.

GARDEN TIME – Help your child to learn how to describe and predict. Consider planting a flower (plant) or even a small garden. Talk about how the seeds are planted and how they change as they grow over time. You can even take pictures of the tasks and have the child the steps you are taking. Ask your child to try to guess how the plants will grow or what may happen under different conditions (not enough water, sunny, cold, etc.) SIGMUND BROUWER Miss Hanson had some of her grade11 & 12 students share their writing with Sigmund Brouwer who then provided constructive feedback for the students via Zoom. The students were then able to continue refining their writing using Mr. Brouwer’s suggestions. Their publishing project will be completed and available to purchace before the end of the year. Fish in Schools Project The grade two class ventured to Mr. Dodge’s classroom in the high school end of the school to have a look at Mr. Dodge’s lake trout fish. This is the second year that Mr. Dodge and his wildlife class have participated in the FinS (Fish in Schools) project. The Wildlife Federation provided the eggs. This project is also locally sponsored by the Preeceville branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Fed- eration. The fingerlings will be released into Lady Lake at a later date. Grade 7 Annual Bottle Drive will be happening again this year Wednesday,May. 23 If you would like to save some Early Childhood Celebration recycling for the kids, it would & Kindergarten Registration be greatly appreciated!
