He went on to become an internationally recognized expert in insurance law and the dean at several law schools. Dr. Anthony Sanchez, Class of 1973, was recognized as a researcher with the Center for Disease Control in dissecting the molecular biology of the Ebola and Marburg filovirus family during its outbreak in the late 1980’s. He also worked to solve the Hantavirus outbreak in 1994. Over one hundred students have received the opportunity to build skills and experience for a brighter future because of the Pace family. Another family committed to giving is Emil Crockett and the Emil Crockett Insurance Agency Scholarship. Started by Emil Crockett in 1953, this scholarship will be awarded to its 50th student recipient this year. Emil Crockett’s son-in-law, Kenneth Lake continued to give the scholarship during his years running the business. Steve Lake, Emil’s grandson, sponsors the scholarship today. The family finds great satisfaction in giving to help the community and is glad to help generations of students find brighter futures through education.
