The Board functions under the ageis of Ministry of HRD, Government of India. In the year 1986 the Board came up with the concept of 'SAHODAYA' literally meaning 'rising together' to facilitate synergy of ideas among the schools of CBSE, for excellence in education. The concept of Sahodaya is imbued with the spirit of 'caring and sharing' and is meant to facilitate closer networking and collaboration among the schools of the CBSE family. The Sahodaya School Complex is a group of neighborhood schools who voluntarily come together to share best practices and innovative strategies in various aspects of school education including curriculum design, evaluation and pedagogy and also in providing support to teachers by regular capacity building exercises. It is a unique and interactive platform for all CBSE affiliated schools to share their experience, to work jointly for scholastic and co-scholastic excellence, to deliberate upon the different policies and guidelines of the Board and to provide effective feedback on their implementation to establish new benchmark of qualities. At present, there are around 200 active Sahodaya School Complexes (SSCs) across the country. In order to bring all (SSCs) on a common platform, the Board in association with a Sahodaya School Complex conducts a National Annual Conference of Sahodaya School Complexes on an identified theme of current educational relevance. Besides facilitating broad interactions among practitioners, it also serves as an effective platform for building closer bonds between schools and the CBSE and thereby helps the Board in formulating its policies in a progressive and pragmatic manner. The deliberations on the issues arising out of the Conference theme trigger meaningful thought processes which are then encapsulated in the form of recommendations and disseminated to the other members of the Sahodaya School Complexes. The 25th National Annual Conference of Sahodaya School Complexes was organized by Sahodaya School Complexes of Delhi NCR on 1st and 2nd November 2019 on the theme 'NaiTaleem- For a Sustainable .Future' 2 SahodayaREPORT HOST SAHODAYA SCHOOL COMPLEXES Indraprastha Sahodaya Sankalp Sahodaya, School Complex , Delhi Delhi South Delhi Sahodaya School Sarv Sahodaya, Complex Delhi Delhi Sahodaya Abhyuday Schools Complex Sahodaya, Delhi Sahodaya Schools Sahodaya Schools Complex, Complex, Ghaziabad Chapter Gurgaon Chapter 3 SahodayaREPORT COMMITTEES CORE COMMITTEE 1. • A Tryst with Siffs in Kerala by Debashish Maitra and Kushankur
A Tryst With Siffs in Kerala 4 Debashish Maitra and Kushankur Dey CASE STUDY This umbrella organisation of fishermen’s societies has demonstrated how a marketing-based platform, if well managed, can reap rich dividends for traditional, small-scale artisinal livelihoods. The origin of the South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies (SIFFS) network, that works in the Marine Fisheries sector, dates back to the Seventies. A diocesan rehabilitation project resettled fish workers from various localities in an uninhabited stretch of coast, later christened Marianad, about 20 km north of Trivandrum, the capital of the state of Kerala. One of the major problems that the fish workers faced in the new settlement was that of marketing their fish catch. The marketing system of the region at that time involved beach auctions. Controlled by merchants and middlemen, the system was inherently exploitative. Confronted with this, the fish workers with the assistance of a team of social workers decided to set up their own marketing system and appointed their own auctioneer. Faced with a determined set of fish workers, the merchants, who till then controlled the business, eventually had to yield. The fishing community then took over a dormant cooperative society that had been registered in the village earlier and started operations formally. This was the first fish marketing society called Marianad Matsya Utpadaka Cooperative Society (MUCS). The society was member-based and marketing-oriented, with membership open only to active fish workers who managed the society themselves. The three core activities of MUCS were marketing of fish caught by members, providing credit for renewal of fishing equipment and promoting savings.

  • Draft Industrial Potential Survey
DRAFT INDUSTRIAL POTENTIAL SURVEY DISTRICT :THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Introduction Thiruvananthapuram District is the southernmost district of the coastal state of Kerala, in south India. It came into existence in the year 1957. The headquarters is the city of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) which is also the capital city of Kerala. Thiruvananthapuram city and several other places in the district loom large in ancient tradition, folklore and literature. In 1684, during the regency of Umayamma Rani, the English East India Company obtained a sandy spit of land at Anchuthengu near Varkala on the sea coast about 32 kilometres (20 mi) north of Thiruvananthapuram city, with a view to erecting a factory and fortifying it. The place had earlier been frequented by the Portuguese and later by the Dutch. It was from here that the English gradually extended their domain to other parts of Travancore. Modern history begins with Marthanda Varma, 1729 CE – 1758 CE, who is generally regarded as the Father of modern Travancore. Thiruvananthapuram was known as a great centre of intellectual and artistic activities in those days. "Thiruvananthapuram" literally means "City of Lord Anantha". The name derives from the deity of the Hindu temple at the center of the Thiruvananthapuram city. Anantha is the mythical thousand hooded serpent- Shesha on whom Padmanabhan or Vishnu reclines. The temple of Vishnu reclining on Anantha, the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple, which dates back to the 16th century, is the most-recognizable iconic landmark of the city as well as the district. Along with the presiding deity of SriPadmanabha, this temple also has temples inside it, dedicated to Lord Krishna and Lord Narasimha, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Ayyappa.

It also describes the experience of a successful fisheries cooperative - in Marianad village of Trivandrum district - and analyses the reasons for its success. The paper was presented at the Workshop on Social Feasibility in Small-Scale Fisheries Develop- ment held in Madras, September 4-8, 1979. The workshop was hosted by the Government of Tamil Nadu in cooperation with the Bay of Bengal Programme (BOBP). The paper may be of interest to small-scale fisheries planners, as also to individuals and institutions who are concerned with the cooperative movement and with the social and economic uplift of small-scale fishing communities. The author, John Kurien, is a research associate at the Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum. He also works in an honorary capacity with the Fisheries Research Cell of the Programme for Community Organization, an independent agency. He was actively involved with the Marianad cooperative during its earliest days. The opinions expressed in the paper are entirely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Bay of Bengal Programme or of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.

Thanks to Reverend Parish priests, priests, Religious men and women and others who generously helped us in providing sufficient matter for the work. I thankfully remember seminarians Sanchon Alfred who helped at the initial works of editing; and Brothers Ignatious Julian, Thomas D’Cruz, Herin Herbin who did the data collection at the parish level also Bro Franklin David who helped at the final stage of the work.
