NOT INTENDED FOR REPRODUCTION WITHOUT PERMISSION Chapter 1 LINCOLN CATHEDRAL

William the Conqueror had established a Castle in Lincoln. In 1092 (nearly 1000 years ago) he commissioned (asked for) the Cathedral to be built.

It has changed a lot since then, there was a fire around 1146 and when it was rebuilt they added lots of stonework and it became a ‘gothic’ building.

In 1185 an earthquake damaged the Cathedral, in 1192 Hugh started rebuilding it, this is when large windows were added.

Around 1237 the central tower collapsed, but they started rebuilding soon after.

Lincoln Cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and it is constantly being repaired. Todays Investigators SECTION 1

You see them everywhere. Movie posters are usually on bill- boards, in the lobby of your local cinema, in magazines, on the Internet, and even on the sides of buses. But how often do you stop and think about the effects movie posters have on you?

It's important to remember that movie posters are actually advertisements. The goal of a poster is to "sell" the movie—to make you want to see it. How does it do that? The poster may have the movie title in a big and bold font. Images of the movie's characters are usually featured. In addition, the actors' names are probably included somewhere on the poster to remind you that the movie has big-name stars. Designs, colours, and fonts are used to show the mood and tone of the film. And the poster probably includes a catchy sentence or slogan that gets you interested and makes the plot seem exciting.
