Inteligencia De Mercados – El Sector Minorista En Alemania Inteligencia de mercados – El sector minorista en Alemania Inteligencia de mercados/Canales de distribución El sector minorista en Alemania Septiembre 12 del 2013 El mercado alemán es considerado el más importante de Europa y se caracteriza por ser competitivo y segmentado. Sin embargo, al igual que en otros países, cómo Francia, Reino Unido o España, el sector minorista es dominado por grandes grupos de distribución. Metro, Aldi, Lidl, Edeka y Rewe son algunos de los más importantes. Además cuenta con un gran número de tiendas independientes; un escaso nivel de concentración del sector; predomina la distribución en el centro de las ciudades y las zonas urbanas; existe una reducida presencia de hipermercados, y el formato hard discount tiene una posición dominante en segmentos como alimentos (40% de las ventas) y algunos víveres para el hogar, aunque su crecimiento se ha frenado en los últimos años, según información de Export Entreprises. Así mismo, los grandes grupos de distribución tienen sus propias subcadenas, de forma tal que gozan de presencia en todos los canales: hipermercados, supermercados y tiendas de descuentos. Gráfica 1: Volumen de ventas en Europa, 2011 Fuente: 2012 Retail Planet Septiembre 12 del 2013 Página 2 de 15 Inteligencia de mercados – El sector minorista en Alemania Schwar (Lidl) vendió en el el 2011 €70.000 millones, le siguió Metro, con €46.500 millones; Edeka, con €44.400 millones; Aldi, con €44.000 millones, y Rewe, con €41.100 millones. Cabe anotar que Lidl y Aldi aumentaron sus ventas en Europa, pero perdieron cuota en el mercado alemán. Ventas minoristas en Alemania El mercado germano está dominado por cinco grupos: Edeka, REWE, Metro, Lidl – Kaufland y Aldi. Gráfica 2: Principales grupos. Fundada en 1898, de esta organización hacen parte varias cooperativas de supermercados independientes que operan bajo la firma Edeka Zentrale AG & Co KG, con sede en Hamburgo. De acuerdo con la Federación de Minoristas de Alemania, existen más de 4.100 tiendas con la marca Edeka en todo el país, que van desde pequeñas tiendas hasta hipermercados. REWE El Grupo Rewe es una empresa comercial con sede en Colonia, Alemania, y su nombre es el acrónico de “Revisionsverband der Westkauf-Genossenschaften” (Unión revisora de los supermercados cooperativos del occidente alemán). Nació en 1927 y su negocio está focalizado en el comercio de alimentos y en el turismo. Bajo esta marca, se encuentran empresas como REWE-Zentral-AG y REWE-Zentralfinanz Eg. La base del grupo está conformada por cooperativas de minoristas independientes. Además, cuenta con 270.000 empleados y tiene presencia en 14 países, entre los que se encuentran Alemania, Austria, Italia, Francia, Rumania, Suiza, Hungría, Eslovaquia, entre otros. En el grupo se encuentran empresas dedicadas a la venta directa como las cadenas de almacenes Kaufhof, los supermercados Real, las tiendas de herramientas y material para la construcción, Baumarkt Praktiker, así como el gigante de la electrónica Saturn. Además tiene presencia en Sudamérica, a través de la cadena Makro. El dueño de este emporio, Otto Beisheim fue el pionero del “cash and carry” con su cadena de supermercados Metro. La división Cash & carry de Metro, el mayor segmento de los negocios de esta multinacional con alrededor del 45 % de las ventas del grupo, vio caer sus ventas en Alemania en un 5,1 % durante el trimestre.

The paper built upon existing analyses of CSR Communication by analysing Lidl’s websites in both countries, and went step forward and analysed TV adverts of the company in both countries as well. The analysis discovered importance of the social context in using CSR to promote business, as well as a different communication management strategy where Lidl does not communicate with UK public as extensively as with the Croatian public due to different views on the CSR communication.

    Lidl has finally opened in Atlanta: How will this affect the Atlanta supermarket landscape?! Powder Springs - 1/16 Snellville - 1/30 Mableton - 2/13 Lidl’s has three store-openings set for Atlanta this month. The first is Powder Springs on 1/16/19, followed by Snellville on 1/30/19 and Mableton on 2/13/19. If you haven’t been to a Lidl before, it’s a good-looking store and simple to shop. Very similar to an ALDI, but larger and with the same emphasis on house brands at an extreme discount to name brand products. Lidl ( 36,000 sf) has created an interesting store model for the US. Its stores are significantly larger than ALDI’s (12,000 -15,000 sf) and smaller than the traditional Kroger (45,000-80,000) or Publix store models (42,000- 48,000 sf). As heavily reported, LIDLs initial store openings in the US did not bring the traffic or volumes they hoped for. By opening three stores in the same size format, LIDL is taking a risk. Total sales recorded by Supermarkets & Grocery Stores as measured by the Australian Bureau of Statistics have increased from $64.5 billion at 2007 to $103.7 billion at 2017, recording average annual growth of 4.9% per annum – despite the impacts of the global financial crisis (GFC). Over this past decade the category has also increased its share of total Australian retail sales from 31.3% to 33.7%. For Victoria, similar trends are evident. Supermarkets and grocery stores’ sales have increased over the past decade at a similar rate to the national average – 4.5% versus 4.9%. The share of total retail sales directed to supermarkets and grocery stores by Victorians has also increased over this period, from 31.6% at 2007 to 32.8% at 2017. Given the importance of the Supermarkets & Grocery Stores category to both the Victorian retail sector and Victorian consumers, the entry of Kaufland into the supermarket sector brings with it enormous potential for significant consumer benefits, as well as broader economic benefits.

    RETAIL SUPERMARKET GLOBALIZATION: WHO’S WINNING? October 2001 CORIOLISRESEARCH Coriolis Research Ltd. is a strategic market research firm founded in 1997 and based in Auckland, New Zealand. Coriolis primarily works with clients in the food and fast moving consumer goods supply chain, from primary producers to retailers. In addition to working with clients, Coriolis regularly produces reports on current industry topics. Recent reports have included an analysis of the impact of the arrival of the German supermarket chain Aldi in Australia, answering the question: “Will selling groceries over the internet ever work?,” and this analysis of retail supermarket globalization. ! The lead researcher on this report was Tim Morris, one of the founding partners of Coriolis Research. Tim graduated from Cornell University in New York with a degree in Agricultural Economics, with a specialisation in Food Industry Management. Tim has worked for a number of international retailers and manufacturers, including Nestlé, Dreyer’s Ice Cream, Kraft/General Foods, Safeway and Woolworths New Zealand. Before helping to found Coriolis Research, Tim was a consultant for Swander Pace (now part of Kurt Salmon) in San Francisco, where he worked on management consulting and acquisition projects for clients including Danone, Heinz, Bestfoods and ConAgra. ! The coriolis force, named for French physicist Gaspard Coriolis (1792-1843), may be seen on a large scale in the movement of winds and ocean currents on the rotating earth. It dominates weather patterns, producing the counterclockwise flow observed around low- pressure zones in the Northern Hemisphere and the clockwise flow around such zones in the Southern Hemisphere.
