Mr. Stephen Dickerson, dean of stu- dents and Mrs. Stacie Gleason, school counselor, are thrilled to be working with the 9th and 11th grades this year. Their main focus will be helping our 9th graders transition to the high school as smoothly as possible. Also, they will be working diligently to help our 11th grad- ers register for the SAT and ACT, begin the college application process, and with anything else they may need to prepare them for their senior year!

Keep up to date on all our important & exciting news! https://twitter.com/ HobokenSchools Library Gets a New Look Over the summer, the library’s fiction collection got a new look. Mrs. McGreivey spent most of July “genre-fying” thou- sands of books to improve browsing for readers. The process involved exam- ining each book in the fiction section and determining which genre it best fit. Our new genres include realistic fic- tion , classics/historical fiction , sports, mystery, horror, survival , paranormal , science fiction/fantasy, romance/chick lit, and graphic novels. Each book is now shelved within its genre and has a color coded spine label to guide users. Our hope is that these bookstore-style categories will help readers more easily find titles they will love. All students and staff are invited to come on in and check it out.

The Math Lab sure is busy during PGP! true mentor internships!

This year True Mentors selected 15 high school students to participate in their teen intern- ship program. We are happy to announce that the following Redwings applied, were se- lected and were placed at internship sites:

Caillou Rivera (TRUE Mentors) Demeara Davenport (Lucas Dental) Gabriel Pineiro (TBD) Tiffany Perez (TRUE Mentors) Branden Moreira (Keller Williams) Yesenia Aracenia (MIMI Yoga)

The internship will run the length of the school calendar and each student intern will be paired with a mentor to work on a project for a local business. True Mentors is looking forward to working with our students. Congratulations True Mentor Interns! In Physical Education this week, students began their fitness testing exercises to obtain a baseline so students and teachers can track each student ’s achivements through the course of the year.

According to a new study by the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences, people who spend eight hours a day sitting can benefit by just one hour of fitness a day. This activity can help reduce, or even eliminate one’s risk of death from heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.
