The best kept market town FRODSHAM has been named as the best kept market town in Cheshire. The town received the award at the annual Cheshire Community Pride Competition award ceremony at Middlewich. It was the fourth time Frodsham had won the award for a town in the 5,000-10,000 population range, having previously won in 2001, 2006 and 2007. The town also scooped a "Little Gem" award for its community Poral display. Mayor of Frodsham Cllr Lynn Riley said she was delighted with the town's success, which cames after its success in the best kept station competition earlier this year. She said: "We have high standards in Frodsham. It always looks clean, tidy and well-dressed and it's all credit to the work of the town council, supplemented by Cheshire West and Chester Council, and residents, and shows what, together, we can achieve." Helsby came third in the best kept village population 2,500-5,000 section, coming behind Tarporley and Kelsall, but picked up a Little Gem for their Diamond Jubilee commemorative wall and were runners-up for the best community newsletter. Last year Helsby did not enter the competition because of the number of eyesore sites in the village. Becky chats about her campaign with Sarah Page, Macmillan Cancer Support fundraiser for Cheshire. • Tarporley News 28Th Feb 2019
Issue #142| 28th February 2019 | FREE Welcome to this 2nd special Tarporley Parish Council edition of Tarporley News - our new way of giving the village accessible and up to date information about issues affecting Tarporley and the extensive work the Parish Council is doing on behalf of the local community. Following the sad news that this newspaper’s founders - Emma Hunter and Victoria Williams - are moving on, we had feared that this would be our final special edition. However, we were delighted to learn last week that our friend and former Parish Councillor, Tina Royles, will be taking over this weekly, free paper from May 2nd. Tina will also take on these quarterly Tarporley Parish Council editions. We wish Tina well and would urge everyone in the village to support her as this precious village commodity enters a new era. Tarporley Parish Council Care Home Proposal Latest Liberty Properties - the company that wants to build a 65-bed ‘Nursing Care Facility’ and public car park in the centre of Tarporley - is hoping to submit a full planning application within the next few months. Following last year’s public consultation, a Cheshire West and Chester Heritage Officer has also offered feedback on the scheme, which would see land to the south of St Helen’s Parish Church being developed. Following a stipulation in the Tarporley Neighbourhood Plan about the need for car parking, the proposal includes a large public car park - with 85 spaces - in addition to a 23-space separate car park for the care home. Liberty Properties predict the ‘Class C2 Nursing Care Facility’, which would also offer dementia care, would provide 64 jobs.

This project is part of a wider pan Cheshire audit of youth arts including; a separate document also for East Cheshire, a sub-regional and county wide audit in Cheshire as well as a report analysis recommendations for youth arts for the future. This also precedes the new structure of Cheshire’s two county unitary authorities following LGR into East and West Cheshire and Chester, which will come into being in April 2009 An audit of this kind will never be fully accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date. Some data will be out-of-date or incorrect as soon as it’s printed or written, and we apologise for any errors or omissions. The youth arts audit aims to produce a snapshot of the activity that takes place in West Cheshire provided by the many arts, culture and youth organisations based in the county in the spring and summer of 2008– we hope it is a fair and balanced picture, giving a reasonable impression of the scale and scope of youth arts activities, organisations and opportunities – but it is not entirely exhaustive and does not claim to be.

Standing proud and tall above the town of the same name its long and rich climbing history lends it an evocative and enthralling atmosphere that is matched by a varied, ever-fascinating array of climbs. The crag is com- posed of fine-grained, un-quarried sandstone that provides just about every style of climbing. Locals delight in its easy accessibility, returning time and again to re-climb favour- ite routes and share good times with friends. Visitors will find a crag quite unlike any other where they can measure themselves against the pioneers of the past on a series of venerable testpieces, from Overhanging Crack to The Beatnik and beyond. Though semi-urban the environment is appeal- ing, almost bucolic; delightful, quiet woods lie below and ravens and peregrines wheel through the skies above. It’s been said before, but next time you are speeding westward on the teeming M56, do not ignore the siren call from above; you won’t regret it. The Climbing So varied are the routes at Helsby that it is impossible to categorise them as falling into one particular style.
