Champions Hyde rout Toft for 85

A WEEK after amassing 372-6 at , Toft were rolled over for 85 at home to Hyde, who showed they are determined to complete a hat-trick of ECB Premier League titles. Put in to bat, hitherto unbeaten Toft were dismissed in 25 overs by Aussie paceman Will Walker, 5-36 and spinner Dan Cranmer, 4-25. Nine Toft batsmen were out for single figures, top scorer being the erstwhile prolific Rob Jones, with 21. In reply, Hyde posted 87-1 in 11 overs, Harry Dearden 34 Alderley Edge made it four wins in five at the top of the table at promoted Timperley, whom they bowled out for 107. The damage – in the absence of Jordan Clark – was done by by Richard Wilkinson, 4-23 and Andy Windle 4-27. Only Mike Ness, with 37, put up much resistance. Alderley also struggled in reply against the pace of Jack White (4- 50) before reaching 110-6, Calum Rowe 26. Highest scoring game was at Parkgate, where and Bramhall totalled 554 runs in a highly- entertaining draw. For Neston, Simon Mugava scored 155 out of 288-6, an innings including 20 fours and three sixes in company with Pritvi Sarvaija, 44 in a fifth stand worth 160. Aussie Dale McKay was in prime form in Bramhall’s reply, an innings of 152 carrying his side to 268-9. Neston shaded the points 15 – 7. Rain deprived of a home victory over Cheadle after they had posted 212, Ray Doyle 81, Nathan Buck 3-53. Cheadle’s reply was stuttering at 40-4 from 14 overs when rain arrived, Louis Cameron 4-13. There was only 36 overs’ play in v Bowdon and none in Urmston v Chester Boughton Hall. Didsbury go top DIDSBURY went top of Division One with a four win at , where play was reduced to 68 overs. Davenham totalled 114-7 and Didsbury topped that with 115-6, Simon Normanton 32. Grappenhall beat by three wickets at Broad Lane after restricting their visitors to 146-6, Henry Dobson 61, responding with 148-7, James McCoy 70, Craig Williamson 4-26. lost their first game, by three wickets at home to Sale. Oulton Park did well to emerge with a winning draw after posting only 139 at Oxton, Danny Leech 38. Oxton got to 134-9 in reply, Greg Shillinglaw 39, Sam Blandford 5 –25. ran up 205-4 on a rainy day at Cheadle Hulme, Rick Hough 86 not out, Faiz Kippie 66. ‘Hulme were in deep trouble at 50-7, Sulman Malik 31 not out, Kippie 4-14, when the weather set in New leaders in Division 2 IN Division Two were saved by rain in their home game against Alvanley and gave up top spot. FLINTOFF DEBUT IN ALDERLEY T20 WIN FORMER Lancashire and England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff made his debut for Alderley Edge in the only Joseph Holt Brewery T20 game which beat the rain last Thursday evening. Like his two young sons, a playing member at Alderley, ‘Freddie’ helped his side beat Bollington by 76 runs in a match reduced to 24 overs on an unpleasantly wet evening. Flintoff did not star in the game contributing only 11 runs (a four, a six and a single) to his side’s tally of 125-3 from 12 overs, before being caught by Joe Binder off the bowling of Stuart Plant for 11, Calum Rowe 59, Mark Currie 23. Bollington were restricted to 49-9 from their 12 overs in reply, Alan Day’s 3-12 outshining the return of 2-0-5-1. The former England captain who has become popular figure at Alderley Edge, hopes to play most T20 games and some Premier League and Sunday cup matches. All other matches on Thursday cancelled with the allotment of one point each.

Hat-trick for Toft 40s’ Kevin Murray INDIVIDUAL highlight in last Wednesday’s Over 40s section games was the hat-trick taken by Kevin Murray in Toft’s 51 runs home win over Warrington in the Central Division . Murray claimed 4-7 from his four overs. Other winners in this division were Davenham, Grappenhall and Mobberley. In the North-East division , Bramhall conceded to Urmston Tigers, while there were wins for Cheadle Hulme, Bowdon Vale – at Brooklands after totalling 160-1 – and Sale Silverbacks. Alderley Edge, Macclesfield and Woodley collected full points in the South-East Division. In a truncated West Division, Oxton beat Iuby, while Upton conceded at Chester Blazers and Caldy v Weaverham was provisionally postponed. The Tattenhall v Neston result has not been notified. CHESHIRE CUP ROUND ONE Emma Lamb hat-trick and ton for brother Danny as Bramhall ko Neston BRAMHALL beat ECB Premier League rivals Neston by 33 runs in the first round of the Cheshire Cup on Sunday when the individual highlights were provided by the brother and sister partnership of Danny and Emma Lamb. Lancashire starlet Danny, who also plays for Cheshire, contributed a commanding 112 to Bramhall’s tally of 170-5. Then his sister Emma, on the fringes of the current England women’s team, restricted Neston’s reply to 137-8 with a 5-18 return which included a hat-trick - the first ever performed by a female in the competition’s 42 years’ history. Elsewhere, Chester Boughton Hall beat Davenham by eight wickets in their bid to win the cup for a fifth successive season. However, in round 2 they visit Hyde, who rattled up the day’s highest score 302-6 against Port Sunlight, inj- form James Duffy hitting 152 Former Lancashire and England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff helped attract a large crowd to Oulton Park when his debut in the competition helped Alderley Edge win by three wickets. Also in the winning team was current Lancashire all-rounder Jordan Clark. Two games were conceded, Cheadle Hulme being unable to stage the visit of Elworth and Weaverham pulling out of their trip to Didsbury.

…BUT 50s WIN CHESHIRE began their National Over 60s championship programme with an impressive 89 runs victory over Derbyshire on Tuesday last week.
