  • Air Pollution Records from Urban Lake Sediments: the Implications of Datable, Lacustrine Sedimentary Archives for Epidemiology
Air Pollution XIV 735 Air pollution records from urban lake sediments: the implications of datable, lacustrine sedimentary archives for epidemiology A. T. Worsley1, A. L. Power1, C. A. Booth2, N. Richardson1, P. G. Appleby3 & C. Orton4 1Natural.Geographical and Applied Sciences, Edge Hill University College, Ormskirk, Lancashire, UK 2Research Institute in Advanced Technologies (RIATec), The University of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK 3Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK 4Halton Primary Care Trust, Widnes, Cheshire, UK Abstract Sediment pollution records from several small, urban, man-made lakes from Merseyside and Halton (N.W. England, UK) are presented. They demonstrate that lake sediments can be used to reconstruct atmospheric pollution histories that encompass the entire Industrial Revolution (the last 250 years) in the U.K. Regionally, this was a period that saw the instigation, development and subsequent expansion of major industrial activity, such as iron and steel production, petro-chemical manufacture and power generation, followed by rises in road and air travel. Through the use of analytical techniques, such as environmental magnetism, together with 210Pb dating, urban lacustrine stratigraphic records illustrate that the types and levels of atmospheric pollution have changed temporally. The work promotes the ethos that such archives could be vital to our understanding of past, present and future relationships between human health and the environment. Keywords: atmospheric particulate pollution, lake sediments, mineral magnetism, environmental health. • Covid-19 Urgent Eye Service (CUES) Provided by Primary Care Optometrists
Manchester Royal Eye Hospital Information for Patients Covid-19 Urgent Eye Service (CUES) Provided by primary care Optometrists Accidents and emergencies related to your eye may still happen at this time; patients can seek help in the community to avoid a visit to the hospital. A service has been set up so patients can access free urgent NHS care at an Optometry practice. There are a number of practices delivering this service, so you should not have to travel far. A network of Optometrists in Manchester and Trafford has been working with Manchester Royal Eye Hospital to create a service which allows Optometrists in the community to assess and treat patients. Some Optometrists have equipment to take scans of the eye and others have had additional training to allow them to prescribe eye medications. The service has been set up so optometrists can share information with the hospital to get an extra opinion when required. Sometimes patients may be sent onto the hospital if further care is needed. If you have an urgent eye problem, please look through the list of optometry practices at the end of this document, and contact a practice using the telephone numbers provided in the table. When you call, you will be asked a number of questions about your eye problem and your general wellbeing. This will help decide whether you need a face to face appointment or a telephone or video consultation. The optometry practice will follow social distancing guidelines and have Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to use. If you have coronavirus, have coronavirus symptoms, are self-isolating or being shielded – please do get in touch using the contact details below if you have an eye emergency – the practice will provide advice best suited to your individual situation.

VALE ROYAL INTRODUCTION 2 This document details Youth arts activity and organisations in West Cheshire and Chester is presented in this document on a district-by-district basis. This project is part of a wider pan Cheshire audit of youth arts including; a separate document also for East Cheshire, a sub-regional and county wide audit in Cheshire as well as a report analysis recommendations for youth arts for the future. This also precedes the new structure of Cheshire’s two county unitary authorities following LGR into East and West Cheshire and Chester, which will come into being in April 2009 An audit of this kind will never be fully accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date. Some data will be out-of-date or incorrect as soon as it’s printed or written, and we apologise for any errors or omissions. The youth arts audit aims to produce a snapshot of the activity that takes place in West Cheshire provided by the many arts, culture and youth organisations based in the county in the spring and summer of 2008– we hope it is a fair and balanced picture, giving a reasonable impression of the scale and scope of youth arts activities, organisations and opportunities – but it is not entirely exhaustive and does not claim to be.
