JEL CODES: N56, N96, O33, Q15. ur aim is to determine continuities and changes in the cañada of Yosotiche environment since the introduction by Spanish conquerors and settlers of new Ocrops, especially sugarcane. A study of the biological modifications of a par- ticular ecosystem allows inferences on changes and continuities in socio-political rela- tions. This particular case study contributes to a discussion of the general model of Mix- tec political territoriality. The methodology applied here involves a convergence that integrates the analysis of historical documents, archaeological data, fieldwork and anth- ropological information, along with discoveries made by earlier research. It offers in- sight into occupational dynamics and their ties to the political, administrative, econo- mic and social structures within the cañada during colonial times. The introduction of foreign crops produced changes in the ecological complemen- tarity system practiced by the villages that possessed lands in the cañada, consequently modifying the labour relations of the inhabitants. An analysis of this situation reveals the singular status of the lands owned by Tlaxiaco, which seemingly fit the regulations dictated by the Laws of the Indies but, in essence, meant the continuity of pre-Hispa- nic traditions. -

La Malinche As Christian, Mistress and Conquistadora a DISSER
THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA Silence Through Representation: La Malinche as Christian, Mistress and Conquistadora A DISSERTATION Submitted to the Faculty of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures School of Arts and Sciences Of The Catholic University of America In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements For the Degree Doctor of Philosophy © Copyright All Rights Reserved By Colleen A. Sweet Washington, DC 2012 Silence Through Representation: La Malinche as Christian, Mistress and Conquistadora Colleen A. Sweet, Ph.D. Director: Mario A. Ortiz, Ph.D. La Malinche played a major role in the Mexican Conquest. She is known as both mistress and translator of Hernán Cortés. In Mexican history, her name is associated with betrayal. The year 1992 was pivotal in the discourse concerning the encounter between Europe and the Americas. Postcolonial studies stressed the need to recover the long-silenced voice of the subaltern characters of the Conquest. This search for an indigenous perspective inspired a new body of artistic works concerning Malinche. In this dissertation I examine the film La otra conquista (Salvador Carrasco, 1998), the novel Malinche (Laura Esquivel, 2006), and the play La Malinche (Víctor Hugo Rascón Banda, 2000). These works address three major roles associated with the representation of Malinche: as convert to Christianity, as mistress to Cortés, and as collaborator in the events of the Conquest. The works under study posit new explorations into the role of both female and indigenous figures in the discourse of the Conquest of Mexico. In La otra conquista, Carrasco removes Malinche from the historical record and replaces her with a revisionist figure. -

Handbooks-©ECORFAN-Mexico, Tlaxcala, 2018. 93 Abstract The auto parts industry in Tlaxcala has historically been influenced by the proximity of the Volkswagen plant and, currently, by the opening of the AUDI plant in San José Chiapa, Puebla. The arrival of the main global auto parts companies has driven the domestic sector to adopt the best practices of the supply chain. This has improved the competitiveness that leads to a quantum growth in exports. However, the Tlaxcala auto parts industry has to operate in a unique environment that poses challenges to the already complex automotive supply chain. In this study, we conducted an assessment of the logistics performance of the auto parts sector in the state of Tlaxcala. For its analysis, the indicators of the Logistics Performance Index were used and the variables taken into account are: Infrastructure, tracking and tracking, punctuality and performance of customs. -

A Geochemical Study of Four Prehistoric Quarries in Oaxaca, Mexico
A GEOCHEMICAL STUDY OF FOUR PREHISTORIC QUARRIES IN OAXACA, MEXICO. by MICHELLE L. TROGDON (Under the direction of Ervan Garrison) ABSTRACT Petrographic and geochemical analyses of chert quarries used in antiquity for stone tool production in the Mixteca Alta, Oaxaca, Mexico have shown some promising results. This study combines petrography, electron microprobe analysis, hydrofluoric acid treatment, and isotope analysis to identify differences between four quarries and build a database of characteristics associated with each quarry. Major elements in trace amounts (Al, Ca, Na, Mg, and K) and their distribution, fossils, and δ18O values were unable to distinguish unique characteristics of the four quarries presented. However, these methods did reveal interesting information regarding chert formation in general and specific processes that influenced chert formation in Oaxaca.
