• Many years ago while visiting the local library in Creston, Ohio, I began to your support! examine the books and records kept in the historical room. After several hours of close study, I discovered that the founder of Creston was actually a Free Will Baptist, and the very first church in our community way back in the 1800’s had actually BEEN a Free Will Baptist Church! The common local belief up until my discovery had been that the Methodists were the first church. (The Methodists did not share my enthusiasm about my discovery, by the way!)

• Just a few weeks ago, an Ohio pastor called me here in the Home Missions office in Nashville for some historical help on the history of the church he pastors. Using our extensive historical collection here in the office, I was able to shed some new light on the founding of their church. Research is ongoing, but it appears that the church was actually founded several decades before what was previously thought! April 26, 2015 • Just a few days ago, I was looking through the Home Missions reprint of the book, “The life and labors of Rev. Ransom Dunn, D.D.”, originally printed in 1901. This book records some of Dunn’s early evangelistic work in Ohio, which includes a series of revivals in the winter of 1837 held in Medina County. These revivals were FREDDY DUTTON recorded as being held in Lafayette, Westfield, (New) York, and Seville. According to this account, the first church Ransom Dunn ever started was in Lafayette, Ohio , and MINISTRIES was the first church ever founded in Lafayette! This is the first I have ever seen this information, and I am currently following up with the Medina County Historical “Holding Forth The Society in hopes of finding more information. Stay tuned! Word of Life” As you can see, there is so much Free Will Baptist history out there just waiting for someone to dig it up! I hope you forgive me, but I am finding it hard to put into words the emotion that I am feeling as I try to write this report. God has truly blessed Dottie and me as we took on this project. We are not as young as we were in 1967 when we went to pastor our first church (maybe I should say “I’m not.”). For the Lord to watch over us and keep us able to do the work that has been necessary, is at times overwhelming. But then, He is God and with Him nothing is impossible.

We had a very good revival in November with Brother Edwin Hayes. The messages were very good and the fellowship with other churches was wonderful.

In recent weeks we have had some new faces attend our services. Please pray with us that God will draw them back.

We hope that in the future, when you drive out to London and maybe go by Redeemer Free Will Baptist Church, you can say, “ I remember praying for that church when it was just a mission.” And then you can say, “Look how the Lord has blessed them.”

McPeak Resigns to Pursue Entrepreneurial Goals

Mark McPeak, International Missions’ director of advancement since February 2012, has tendered his resignation effective December 31, 2014. Previously, McPeak served as director of com munications (April 2005April 2008) and deputy director of state side operations (April 2008February 2011) for the Mission.

During his tenure at IM, Mark helped develop strategies for com munications, development, missionary stateside assignment, and other dimensions of the Mission’s stateside and home office opera tions. He led initiatives, provided focus, and supplied a 60,000foot strategic viewpoint in discussions. McPeak is leaving International Missions to pursue other busi ness opportunities.

The Welch College Alumni Association has announced its latest fund raising project, according to Mike Edwards, association president. The goal of the project, which is called Sound Forth His Praise, is to raise between $60,000 and $75,000 to fund a new college choir and ministry team recording and new sound equipment for the Welch College traveling ministry teams and auditorium. The alumni association hopes to reach this goal in the next two years.

Over the past decade, the Alumni association has raised over $250,000 for various collegerelated projects, $105,000 of which was raised for the Bert and Dianne Tippett Alumni Scholarship.

LOCKBOURNE (TRINITY) Greetings from Lockbourne FWB. As we look back on 2014, we have had a great year and are grateful that the Lord has provided opportuni ties for us to serve Him. The Awana Program is up and running with plenty of fun activities from crazy hair day to their recent Christmas November-December 2014 November-December November-December 2014 November-December party. Our ladies fellowship made blankets as part of Project Linus which provides handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill. The church also reached out to needy children in our city this Christmas and we were blessed to pro vide gifts to about 80 children. May the Lord bless everyone that opened their heart and pro vided blankets and toys to these precious chil dren. We had our annual Christmas dinner with plen ty of great food and fellowship. Thanks to Beulah Lawson and her team who worked so hard to make the dinner so enjoyable. We were treated to a wonderful Christmas program the following Sunday evening with a living Christmas tree. Some of our adults sang beau tiful songs that told of God’s love for humanity and how He sent His Son that blessed day to save all who would believe. The children par ticipated by portraying a live nativity as the Christmas story was told in song. It was a beau tiful evening and the Lord’s presence was made real to us. We are looking forward to 2015 with great anticipation for all that the Lord will do in our families, our churches, our communities and our nation. Have a blessed New Year and please pray for our church as we continue to labor together in the Lord.
