See him in a manger laid, Whom the choirs of angels praise Mary, Joseph, lend your aid, While our hearts in love we raise. __________ THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me A partridge in a pear tree. 2nd - Two turtle doves 3rd - Three French hens 4th - Four calling birds 5th - Five golden rings 6th - Six geese a-laying 7th - Seven swans a-swimming 8th - Eight maids a-milking 9th - Nine ladies dancing 10th - Ten lords a-leaping 11th - Eleven pipers piping 12th - Twelve drummers drumming __________ AWAY IN A MANGER Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the sky looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay. The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes. I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky And stay by my cradle ‘til morning is nigh. Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay Close by me forever, and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there. __________ FIRST NOEL, THE The first Noel, the angel did say, Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; In fields where they lay keeping their sheep, On a cold winter's night that was so deep. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel. And by the light of that same star, Three wise men came from country far; To seek for a King was their intent, And to follow the star wherever it went. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel. __________ RUDOLPH, THE RED-NOSED REINDEER You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donder and Blitzen. But do you recall The most famous reindeer of all? Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer had a very shiny nose, And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows. All of the other reindeer Used to laugh and call him names; They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games. Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say: Rudolph with your nose so bright, Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?" Then how the reindeer loved him As they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, You'll go down in history." GO, TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN While shepherds kept their watching O'er silent flocks by night, Behold throughout the heavens There shone a holy light Go, tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go, tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is born. The shepherds feared and trembled When lo! above the earth Rang out the angel chorus That hailed our Savor's birth; Down in a lowly manger Our humble Christ was born; And God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn __________ JINGLE BELLS Dashing through the snow on a one-horse open sleigh Over the fields we go, laughing all the way; Bells on bob-tail ring making spirits bright What fun it is to ride and sing A sleighing song tonight Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way! "Peace on the earth, good will to men, From heaven's all gracious King! The world in solemn stillness lay to hear the angels sing. Yet with the woes of sin and strife The world hath suffered long; Beneath the angel-strain have rolled Two thousand years of wrong; And man, at war with man, hears not The love song which they bring: O hush the noise, ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing For lo! the days are hastening on, By prophet bards foretold, When, with the ever-circling years, Shall come the Age of Gold; When peace shall over all the earth Its ancient splendors fling, And all the world give back the song Which now the angels sing. __________ JOY TO THE WORLD Joy to the world! the Lord is come; Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room, and heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing, And heaven, and heaven and nature sing. Joy to the earth! the Savior reigns; Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains Repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat the sounding joy. No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessing flow Far as the curse is found, far as the curse is found, far as, far as the curse is found. He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, and wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders of His love.

  • The Twelve Days of Christmas a Testimony-Based Devotional by Dayna Schoonmaker
The Twelve Days of Christmas A Testimony-based Devotional by Dayna Schoonmaker The Twelve Days of Christmas A Testimony-based Devotional by Dayna Schoonmaker For many of you, it may be old news that the twelve days of Christmas begin on Christmas day rather than ending on the 25th. But, somehow, I grew up with the idea that the twelve days of Christmas was part of the hype leading up to the arrival of Santa and the birth of Jesus. It’s not surprising since the song ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ plays alongside ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas’ throughout December. Still, it was somewhat unsettling to find I’d been doing Christmas ‘wrong’ for years. The problem with this misunderstanding is that Advent is the season that leads up to Christmas, while the twelve days of Christmas are meant to be celebrated beginning on the 25th. By pushing the twelve days of Christmas into the Advent season, we deny ourselves room to experience the longing that precedes Christmas, almost like skipping the pregnancy and going straight to the birth. And I get it. By December of each year, and this year in particular, I am ready for the holly, jolly part of the season to go ahead and get here. Once December 25th rolls around, I am usually ready to clean things up and move on. However, by denying the fullness of Advent with its tiny wonders amid the waiting, we also diminish the full revelation of Christmas, when Light bursts forth into the darkness and transforms everything.

A Distant Voice (Lyrics) Words by Randy Vader Music by Jay Rouse Arranged by Jay Rouse A distant voice from a barren land; Let all rejoice, obey His command. Level the mountains, straighten the roads; Tell the world, let everyone know: The waiting has ended, His Kingdom at hand; Redemption is dawning as the Father has planned. The Savior is coming, the promise is sealed, His power and glory no longer concealed And the glory of the Lord, yes, the glory of the Lord, The glory of the Lord is soon to be revealed. God’s only Son has come to this place; Eternal cloaked in time and space. Angel choirs announce His birth, Joy to all and peace on this earth. The Savior is coming, the promise is sealed, His power and glory no longer concealed And the glory of the Lord, yes, the glory of the Lord, The glory of the Lord The Savior is coming, the promise is sealed, His power and glory no longer concealed And the glory of the Lord, yes, the glory of the Lord, The glory of the Lord is soon to be revealed.
