AWAY IN A MANGER

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord laid down his sweet head. The stars in the sky looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes. I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky And stay by my cradle ‘til morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay Close by me forever, and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there.

They looked up and saw a star Shining in the East, beyond them far; And to the earth it gave great light, And so it continued both day and night. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.

And by the light of that same star, Three wise men came from country far; To seek for a King was their intent, And to follow the star wherever it went. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.

Then one foggy , Santa came to say: Rudolph with your nose so bright, Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Down in a lowly manger Our humble Christ was born; And God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn

IT CAME UPON THE MIDNIGHT CLEAR

It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth To touch their harps of gold! "Peace on the earth, good will to men, From heaven's all gracious King! The world in solemn stillness lay to hear the angels sing.

Yet with the woes of sin and strife The world hath suffered long; Beneath the angel-strain have rolled Two thousand years of wrong; And man, at war with man, hears not The love song which they bring: O hush the noise, ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing

For lo! the days are hastening on, By prophet bards foretold, When, with the ever-circling years, Shall come the Age of Gold; When peace shall over all the earth Its ancient splendors fling, And all the world give back the song Which now the angels sing.

O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie! Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by; Yet in the dark street shineth the everlasting Light; The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and fathered all above, While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love. O morning stars, together, proclaim the holy birth And praises sing to God, the King, And peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently, the wondrous Gift is given! So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive Him still, The dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray; Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today. We hear the Christmas angels, the great glad tidings tell: Oh, come to us, abide with us, our Lord Immanuel!
