Kick Off in the Scandinavian Soccer Leagues Bachelor thesis Spring 2014 Section for health and society Bachelor of Science in Business Administration International Business Kick off in the Scandinavian soccer leagues Authors Daniel Nilsson Martin Kristensen Supervisor Timurs Umans Examiner Christer Ekelund Abstract This study emphasizes on the Scandinavian soccer leagues team performance and what shapes it. This has been a widely discussed area where previous researchers have focused on factors such as organizational structure, organizational strategy, team level and individual level. The study takes this field to a new level with a combination of these factors in order to conceptualize team performance on a new level. The purpose with this study is to explain how organizational strategy, structure, team level and individual level factors affect team performance, in the Scandinavian elite soccer leagues. In order to investigate this phenomenon we have used a deductive approach. Further, this study emphasizes a quantitative approach where the data has been collected through a document analysis. In this study the findings indicates that the variables that has been chosen are highly correlated to team performance. However, due to the short time frame this study has fostered, it has been hard to generalize how the variables affect team performance. The limitations are that the study´s findings are only based on a two year span, which makes it hard to generalize the results. However, it is clear that the chosen variables have a significant impact on team performance in Scandinavian soccer leagues. The original value of this thesis is a new conceptualization on team performance within the soccer industry. Key words: Team performance, organizational, structure, strategy, team level, individual level, organizational outcome, Scandinavian soccer league. THE IMPACT OF MANAGERIAL CHANGE ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SOCCER TEAMS – AN EVENT STUDY ON THE TWO TOP TIER SWEDISH DIVISIONS by André Roskors A thesis submitted to the faculty of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Economics Charlotte 2017 Approved by: ______________________________ Dr. Craig A. Depken, II ______________________________ Dr. Richard Buttimer ______________________________ Prof. Matthew R. Metzgar © 2017 André Roskors ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT ANDRÉ ROSKORS. The impact of managerial change on the performance of soccer teams – an event study of the two top tier Swedish divisions. (Under the direction of DR. CRAIG A. DEPKEN, II) This research examines the impact of managerial changes on Swedish soccer teams from the first and second Swedish soccer league. The research is conducted similar to an event study and regression analysis is employed to investigate the impact of the focus event, managerial changes. The variable of interest for the regression analysis is the odds to win a match. The study uses data for both Swedish leagues for the period from 2010 to 2016. The research finds a positive impact of managerial changes on the team performance in the short-term. iii ACKNOWLEDGMENTS I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Craig A. Depken II for his continued investment and advice during the course of this research. I would also like to acknowledge the owner of bookiebacker.com, Vincent van de Ven, who gave me generous access to the data and explanations of variables, necessary for the research.

Deltog i IF Heimer tröjan 135 gånger och gjorde 17 mål. Blev distriktsmästare (DM) 1920 och 1922.

  • Djurgårdens Fina Grabbar: Local Identities and the Cross-National Transfer of Spectator-Related Football Violence
Djurgårdens Fina Grabbar: Local Identities and the Cross-national Transfer of Spectator-related Football Violence CARL-GUSTAF SCOTT* Once known as the „English Disease,‰ hooliganism (or spectator-related football vio- lence) is now a routine feature in most European football leagues. In Sweden, the number of serious violent offences in conjunction with football matches has steadily continued to mount over the last four decades. Presently, one of the worst culprits is Djurgårdens Fina Grabbar ă DFG (DjurgårdenÊs Fine Lads), the so-called „firm‰ (or hooligan group) associated with Djurgårdens Idrottsförening ă DIF (DjurgårdenÊs Athletic Association). DIFÊs supporters have long looked to Britain for inspiration; and this tendency is very marked in DFG. Yet, in the past few years, a new Italian-inspired variety of hooliganism has likewise become more and more detectable in DFGÊs actions. This, in turn, has led to a new hybrid, that is neither wholly Italian nor British in character ă though it has unquestionably created a more menacing version of Swedish hooliganism. This article accounts for this change in DFG while simultaneously exploring questions relating to the continued sanctity of local identities in the context of an increasingly globalized football culture. It additionally asks whether Swedish hooliganism should be understood as a response to the challenges facing traditional masculine identities in post-industrial societies like Sweden that also strongly emphasize gender equality.
