VPR broadcast a day long on-air fund- raising appeal to support hurricane Katrina relief efforts, collecting more than $400,000 from 2,604 listeners. All of the money raised has been given to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and is being used for ongoing relief efforts.
