1863. KLENCK

The family main place of residence was Neustetten, in the parish of Murrhardt, duchy of Würt- temberg,[1] It was the property of the monastery at Murrhardt as early as 1575. The village’s civil jurisdiction was transferred to Kirchenkirnberg by 1809, and it was renamed “Unterneustetten” to distinguish it from “Oberneustetten,” a filial of the parish of Kirchenkirnberg.[2] The mona- stery and city of Murrhardt were also established by the counts of Löwenstein, but came into the possession of Württemberg in 1395.[3] Fornsbach (no. 1), another filial of Murrhardt, came under Württemberg rule in 1504. It was made a civil Gemeinde in 1843, but the pastor of - hardt continued to serve Fornsbach as well.[4]

1. FranzI Klenck of Neustetten, moved to Fornsbach by 1585, when his son Jerg married. Franz’s last known wife, and Jerg’s mother, was Engel ____, but she is not identified as the mother of Franz’s other children. Child of FranzI Klenck, possibly by an earlier wife or wives, are: i. MARGARETHA KLENCK, m. Murrhardt 25 July 1563 MICHAEL KÜBLER of Fornsbach, widower.[5] ii. FRANZ KLENCK, m. Murrhardt 22 June 1576 BARBARA LINDAUER, dau. of Michael Lindauer of Neu- stetten.[6] iii. ELSA KLENCK, m. Murrhardt 4 June 1582 FRIEDRICH WAGNER, son of Balthas Wagner of Büchelberg, parish of Murrhardt.[7] The known child of FranzI and Engel (____) Klenck is: 2. +. JERGH KLENCK, bp. 3 May 1561, d. before 13 Feb. 1610, m. ANNA METZ.

2. JergH Klenck (FranzI) of Neustetten was baptized at Murrhardt on 3 May 1561, with Hans Scholl of Murrhardt as sponsor.[8] He died before 13 February 1610, when his widow remarried. He married at Murrhardt on 19 October 1585, Anna Metz.[9] She was baptized at Murrhardt on 12 March 1565, daughter of Lienhardt and Anna (Schupp) Metz of Fornsbach (see 7453. Metz, 2, ii.), sponsored by Ursula, wife of Melchior Reblin of Fornsbach.[10] Anna, widow of Jerg Klenck of Neustetten, was married second at Murrhardt, on 13 February 1610, to Michael Schall, son of Caspar Schall of Karnsberg.[11] He is likely to be the Michel Scholl of Neustetten who was buried

3. HansG Klenck (JergH, FranzI) of Neustetten was baptized as Joannes at Murrhardt on 3 or 13 April 1600, with Nicolas Stiffel of Furnsbach, smith, as sponsor.[44] He seems to be the Johannes Klenck of Neustetten who died 28 April 1649, and was known as “Scholler Hans” (the meaning of this designation is unclear). He was buried at Murrhardt the following Sunday.[45] He married at Murrhardt on 18 June 1633 Maria Ellinger, daughter of Leonhard Ellinger of Neustetten[46] (see 3727. Ellinger, 1, iv.). Maria was born about 1614, and was buried at Murrhardt on 13 May 1654, aged 40 years.[47] She married second at Murrhardt on 15 May 1651 Joseph Küderer, son of Georg Küderer of Uttenhof, parish of Westheim, Württemberg.[48] Maria and Joseph had no children baptized at Murrhardt. Joseph was born about June 1624, and buried at Murrhardt on 15 November 1681, aged 57 years and 5 months.[49] As a widower of Neustetten he was married secondly, at Murrhardt on 8 May 1655, to Anna, daughter of Melchior Janlen,[50] and moved to Siegelsberg, parish of Murrhardt, by 1656,[51] where he lived at the time of his death. Children of HansG and Maria (Ellinger) Klenck, all but the first recorded baptized at Murr- hardt,[52] are: + i. EVAF KLENCK, b. ca. 1637, bur. Baptisms appear to be missing from the registers of Westheim, deanery of Schwäbisch Hall, from 1589 to 1645. 50 Murrhardt KB 2, 30 recto, ninth entry. 51 Murrhardt KB 2, 379 verso, fourteenth entry. 52 Baptismal registers are mostly missing from May 1635 to May 1639, and their daughter Walburga’s baptism is the first recorded after this lacuna (Murrhardt KB 2, 190-2). 53 Evangelische Kirche Murrhardt, Kirchenbücher, Band 3, Mischbuch 1706–1759, Totenregister, 5 recto, sixth entry. 54 Murrhardt KB 2, 31 recto, fifth entry.
