The Honors Middle Level State Honors Applications Due Project began in 1967 to provide musically talented high school youth the opportunity to rehearse and perform with Middle Level State Honors Auditions the nation’s finest conductors in a professional setting. In 1995, WSMA proudly sponsored the first-ever Middle Level Friday, April 7, 2006 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. State Honors Band. A WSMA Middle Level State Honors Choir was added in 1996, and in 1997, the WSMA Middle Dousman Kettle Moraine Level State Honors Orchestra made its debut performance. LaCrosse Logan Wausau Horace Mann Students in grades 6–8 who attend WSMA-member schools are eligible to audition for the WSMA Middle Level State Saturday, April 8, 2006 Honors Music Project. Auditions include an individual 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. performance and an Ensemble Class taught by the adjudica- tor. This year, more than 1300 students applied for the Eau Claire Northstar privilege of being one of the 308 students who are members Kaukauna River View of the WSMA Middle Level State Honors Choir, Orchestra, Fort Atkinson and Band. Oct. 25-28, 2006 Music teachers, parents, administrators, and the WSMA staff WMEA State Music Conference. Middle Level State contribute time, talent, motivation, and encouragement for Honors Concert will be Saturday, October 28 at every student involved in the Honors Project. Young 1:00 p.m. in Madison. musicians selected for these wonderful ensembles discover new levels of individual and group performance. Most importantly, the effort and dedication required of each Honors participant brings a lifelong memory of their Thanksgiving Day Broadcast initiative and commitment to excellence. WSMA extends a special thank you to Vicki Nonn of Wisconsin Public Radio for continuing the tradition of broadcasting the Wisconsin High School State 2005 WSMA Middle Level State Honors Orchestra, Band, Treble Choir, and Mixed Choir performances throughout Thanksgiving Day. Thank you from the 2005 WSMA Middle Level State Honors Staff. 3 2005 WSMA Middle Level State Honors Choir Randal Mc Chesney, Conductor Randal Mc Chesney is currently President and Executive Director of the Richards Institute of Education Through Music and Assistant Adjunct Professor, Music Education, University of Southern California School of Education in Los Angeles. Mc Chesney has volunteered teaching time each Wednesday at Magnolia Elementary School, Los Angeles’ largest elementary school in the heart of its urban core, while currently serving as conductor and music director of the Cedar Rapids, IA Concert Chorale, the chorus for the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra, a Grammy Award winner. He also has served as advisor in two Presidential administrations for childhood literacy and education affairs. In addition, he has held appointments at the University of Southern California School of Music and Fresno State University. Lydia Adams SATB McGroarty Publishing - MMP-03 (P.O.P.) 4 2005 WSMA Middle Level State Honors Orchestra Randal Swiggum, Conductor Randal Swiggum is in his seventh season as Music Director of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, the largest and oldest program of its kind in northwest Illinois, and recently recognized by the Illinois Council of Orchestras as its Youth Orchestra of the Year. Swiggum has enjoyed a diverse teaching career that has spanned first grade general music, high school choir, college orchestra, music theory and conducting.º As composer, conductor, teacher and advocate for young people in the arts, he has established a reputation for musical excellence and a commitment to music education through performance. A frequent guest conductor of music festivals, he most recently conducted the first-ever Pennsylvania ACDA/PMEA All-State Junior High Choir, in addition to the Singapore American Schools Music Festival, MENC All-Northwest Honor Choir in Portland,

    WISCONSIN PUBLIC RADIO ASSOCIATION BYLAWS Reviewed, January, 2012 ARTICLE I. PURPOSE 1.01 It shall be the general purpose of the Association to further those public radio stations whose licensees have requested Association assistance and on which the Association solicits membership. 1.02 The Association shall endeavor to further public radio broadcasting by means which include, but are not limited to, the following: (a) Soliciting contributions from public radio listeners, Association members, and persons who desire to support the programming and activities of the public radio licensees and the Association; (b) Providing information to public radio listeners and Association members concerning the organization, needs, programming and activities of public radio broadcasters in the state of Wisconsin; (c) Promoting and supporting public radio broadcasting in the state of Wisconsin; (d) Providing information to public broadcasters concerning the needs and preferences of Association members and others in regard to public radio broadcasting in the state of Wisconsin; (e) Distributing to the licensees a portion of the funds collected from Association members and others to support the programming operations and activities of those entities; (f) Making known to governmental representatives in a manner consistent with all state and federal laws regulating the operation of the Association as a nonprofit corporation the needs and preferences of Association members and others in regard to public radio broadcasting in the state of Wisconsin. A second survey of 18 networks sought to gather indepth information on network operation. Results showed that 22.2 percent of the stations surveyed were participating in program cooperatives, and over 79 percent felt that network participation would be beneficial. It was concluded that the cooperative program tape network should continue in order to fulfill specialized programing needs. A copy of the two questionnaires, the letter of transmittal, and the mailing list is appended. A list of the networks that participated in the study, 12 statistical tables, and a 20-item bibliography are included.
