    Press Release May 8, 2018 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Preview, Round 1, Formula 1 race in Barcelona/Spain Capacity grid at season-opener in Barcelona Stuttgart. The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup heads into its 26th season as a support race to Formula 1 on the outskirts of Barcelona this coming weekend (11-13 May). For the 2018 season, fans can look forward to ten rounds run over nine race weekends. Twenty-eight drivers have signed on for the whole season, with additional guest drivers joining the grid at selected rounds. The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup has featured on the same bill as the Formula 1 World Championship every year since it was launched in 1993. Two rounds, Monte Carlo/Monaco and Budapest/Hungary, have been permanent fixtures on the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup calendar since the series began. The one- make cup also returns to Hockenheim/Germany after a year’s break. Other venues on the calendar this season are the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg/Austria, as well as the storied racetracks of Silverstone/Great Britain, Spa-Francorchamps/Belgium and Monza/Italy. A doubleheader in Mexico City provides a fitting finale to the season. “We’re thrilled to return to Hockenheim after a year’s break and to welcome international drivers to our home track. We have a strong line-up of drivers from all over the world,” says Oliver Schwab, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Project Manager. Daniel’s win, the second for the team and for the Renault Energy F1­2014 Power Unit this season, came after a thrilling three­way battle for the lead with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. Sebastian Vettel secured seventh position for Infiniti Red Bull Racing and Jean­Eric Vergne ninth for Scuderia Toro Rosso, putting three Renault Energy F1­2014 Power Units into the top ten. The result consolidates Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s second position in the constructors’ championship and Daniel Ricciardo’s third in the drivers’ race. Key race points: Daniel Ricciardo mastered the ever­evolving track conditions to move into the lead on lap 9 during the first safety car period. He retained the lead until the second deployment of the safety car and then pitted for a third time in the final third of the race. The Australian hunted down Rosberg for P3, then made a bravado move on Lewis Hamilton for second on lap 67.     Hungarian Grand Prix Preview: Hungaroring, 26-28 July 2013 PIRELLI BRINGS LATEST SPECIFICATION TYRES TO THE HUNGARORING Milan, July 22, 2013 – From the Nurburgring in Germany, the teams head to a completely contrasting venue for the Hungarian Grand Prix: the final race before the summer break. Pirelli brings the P Zero White medium and P Zero Yellow soft compounds to the Hungaroring, close to Budapest. This is actually the same nomination as last year, but with the compounds being softer this year, there is even more performance. The construction of the tyres has changed as well, with the 2012 structure matched with the 2013 compounds. These tyres were successfully tested at Silverstone last week, with the teams collecting plenty of data that will be useful for the future. Conditions at the Hungaroring are normally hot and sunny, which increases the work for the tyres. However, average speeds are low at the tight and twisty Hungaroring, which affects the usual pattern of wear and degradation. Rain is not unknown however, so as usual Pirelli will bring the Cinturato Green intermediates and Cinturato Blue full wets as well. Paul Hembery: “Hungary marks the first event for our latest specification P Zero tyres, which consist of the 2012 construction matched to the 2013 compounds. These tyres were tried out by the teams at Silverstone during the young driver test, who benefitted from the opportunity to adapt the set-up of their cars to best suit the new tyres. Now they get to use them in competition for the first time, and with qualifying particularly important at the Hungaroring, the work done in free practice will be very important.

    F1 Digest – Prelude to the Belgian Grand Prix Christine: The Belgian Grand Prix has always been a popular stop on the Formula One calendar, and its stock only increases when it brings us back from the four weeks of summer break. With an enforced fortnight of factory shutdown, the teams, the drivers, the fans, everyone is eager to get back to work, and there is no better place to rekindle the flames of the F1 season than at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps. Of course it has Eau Rouge, the challenging uphill chicane that is often proclaimed the best corner in the sport. But it also has an intense rest of the lap, great surroundings, brilliant fans, and some incredibly changeable weather. There’s an awful lot of fun in store this weekend at Spa. Mr C: Welcome to F1 Digest – Prelude to the Belgian Grand Prix. This is your Sidepodcast preview for the weekend’s racing action at Spa. Here’s your host, Christine Blachford. Christine: It’s almost pointless to talk about the weather at Spa from this far ahead, because the track has a micro- climate all to itself. Not only that, but as it is such a long circuit, the weather at one end can be completely different to that at the other. There aren’t many tracks where you could do with both wet and dry tyres on the same lap. Nevertheless, the long-range weather forecasts have done their best and there is rumoured to be plenty of sunshine on Friday, that gradually descends into clouds on Saturday for qualifying, and then even further to rain on race day.
