  • Dacia Pay Agreement Signed
PRESS RELEASE April 11, 2008 DACIA PAY AGREEMENT SIGNED • Dacia management and Dacia’s trade union, Syndicat Autoturisme Dacia (SAD), signed an agreement on an annual pay increase on April 11, 2008. Work resumed at the plant on the same day at noon (GMT +1). • Under the agreement, qualified production workers will receive a gross monthly salary increase of 300 lei (83 euros) from January 1, 2008, followed by a gross monthly increase of 60 lei (16 euros) from September 1, 2008. Technicians, supervisory staff and managers get a 15% raise. All employees will receive a profit- sharing bonus based on 2007 results. The bonus will be equal to one month’s gross salary, with a gross minimum of 900 lei (249 euros). • The agreement concludes the negotiations started on January 28, according to a protocol established under Romanian law. Dacia management and the trade union have thus reached a reasonable compromise. The pay increases are significantly higher than the national average and the average in the Romanian manufacturing sector. In 2008, the average gross yearly salary of Dacia production workers will be 43% higher than the Romanian average (forecast). The salaries will also keep the Pitesti plant competitive on producing Dacia vehicles and parts for the worldwide Logan program. Today’s agreement between Dacia and SAD concludes a negotiation period that started on January 28, 2008, during which the management and the trade union met three times a week. • Vehicle Registration Tax As a Policy Instrument to Help Reduce CO2
www.theicct.org BRIEFING APRIL 2019 Vehicle registration tax as a policy instrument to help reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption in Turkey Vehicle taxes in Turkey are among the highest in all of Europe. In particular, the Turkish registration tax on new passenger cars (Özel Tüketim Vergisi, or ÖTV) has a strong impact on consumer purchase behavior and vehicle market structure.1 However, the ÖTV currently does not directly take into account the emissions level of a vehicle, and thereby provides only a limited incentive for consumers to opt for passenger cars with low- or zero-emissions. This is different from most of the European Union (EU) member states, where vehicle manufacturers are obliged to reduce the average carbon dioxide (CO2) level of their new cars and consumer purchase decisions are driven by taxation systems based partly or entirely on the CO2 emission level of the vehicles available on the market.2 1 Murat Şenzeybek and Peter Mock, Passenger car emissions in Turkey: A baseline analysis of current vehicle taxation policies in Turkey and their impact on new and used passenger cars, (ICCT: Washington, DC, 2019), https://www.theicct.org/publications/passenger-car-emissions-turkey 2 Peter Mock, CO2 emission standards for passenger cars and light-commercial vehicles in the European Union, (ICCT: Washington, DC 2019), https://www.theicct.org/publications/ldv-co2-stds-eu-2030-update-jan2019; Sandra Wappelhorst, Peter Mock, and Zifei Yang, Using vehicle taxation policy to lower transport emissions - an overview for passenger cars in Europe, (ICCT: Washington, DC 2019),https://www.theicct.org/publications/ using-vehicle-taxation-policy-lower-transport-emissions Prepared by: Murat Şenzeybek, Peter Mock Acknowledgments: This paper is part of a two-year research project, kindly funded by Istanbul Policy Center - Sabancı University - Stiftung Mercator Initiative.

We are proud to let you know about the launch of the new 2.0 Blue HDI engine from PSA, which conforms with Euro VI emissions standards, and on which Sogefi filters are fitted. This DW10F engine, which offers from 135HP up to 180HP and will equip many vehicles like Citroën C4 Picasso, DS3, DS4, Peugeot 308 II and RCZ, is anticipated to meet the Euro 6 standard. This new rule imposes a strict reduction on the nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx); achieved by the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) pollutant-reducing system that is well-known on trucks, but up to now has been very rare on light vehicles. The Sogefi Group has been named as an exclusive tier one supplier of key components for the new PSA Euro 6 compliant diesel engines. According to the vehicle type, Sogefi will be the original filtration equipment provider for air, oil and especially fuel, using a brand new diesel filtration module. This module delivers an exceptionally high filtration, capturing almost all particles bigger than 4µm. This meets the demanding levels of protection needed by the latest generations of Diesel Fuel and Common Rail injectors, ensuring compliance with imminent Euro 6 regulations.
