Weitere Untersuchungen zur Gattung Meotica Mulsant et Rey (Col., Sta­ phylinidae). Norsk ent. Tidsskr. 15, 83-89.. Verfasser erkliirt nach Typenuntersuchung, dass die von den englischen und nordischen Autoren, sowie von Prof. Dr. Scheerpeltz als Meotica exilis bezeichnete Art tatsiichlich die von ihm 1953 beschriebene M. apicalis ist; M. exiliformis Joy ist artgleich mit der echten M. exilis Er. M. angulata Bck. ist gute Art. Dagegen ist M. clavata Bck. artgleich mit M. apicalis Bck. Anstelle der vernichteten Type von M. soniae Bondr. bestimmt Verfasser eine Lectotype und gibt genaue Beschreibung und Bestimmungstabelle. M. strandi Scheer. ist artgleich mit M. lohsei Bck. Eine neue Art, M. koch Bck., wird beschrieben und in Bestimmungstabelle eingereiht. Nach dem Erscheinen meiner Arbeit iiber hin. Sanchiz (*) RESUMEN Durante el periodo 1978-1994 se han descrito cerca de 2.000 especies animales nue- vas para la ciencia en territorio ibérico-balear. Se presenta como apéndice un listado completo de las especies (1978-1993), ordenadas taxonómicamente, así como de sus referencias bibliográficas. Como tendencias generales en este proceso de inventario de la biodiversidad se aprecia un incremento moderado y sostenido en el número de taxones descritos, junto a una cada vez mayor contribución de los autores españoles. Es cada vez mayor el número de especies publicadas en revistas que aparecen en el Science Citation Index, así como el uso del idioma inglés. La mayoría de los phyla, clases u órdenes mues- tran gran variación en la cantidad de especies descritas cada año, dado el pequeño núme- ro absoluto de publicaciones. Los insectos son claramente el colectivo más estudiado, pero se aprecia una disminución en su importancia relativa, asociada al incremento de estudios en grupos poco conocidos como los nematodos. Messer1 Abstract Sixteen species are added to the checklist of Wisconsin Geadephaga. Of these, seven species are reported here as new to Wisconsin. Nine taxa from the list are affected by new information resulting in the removal of six names. The Eurasian beetle Harpalus rubripes was discovered as early as 2009 on annu- ally surveyed beaches along Lake Michigan in southeastern Wisconsin. This discovery greatly extends the species distribution westward from its presence in northeastern North America where it was first recorded in 1981. ____________________ There appears no end to the current accelerated pace of published faunal records and regional checklists. The vast majority of such endeavors are based arbitrarily on political geographic units rather than on well-defined natural systems. The scientific and esthetic allure of the ground beetles has contrib- uted greatly to the surge in publications (e.g., Erwin 2007, 2011; Erwin and Pearson 2008) on Western Hemisphere Caraboidea, the catalogue of North American Geadephaga (Bousquet 2012), and the concerted effort among users of BugGuide.net to supplement the latter catalogue by archiving new records at http://bugguide.net/node/view/744417. Bousquet (2012) updated all 2678 valid North American Geadephaga species-group taxa along with consolidating everything known about their geographic-political distributions. The present contribution adheres to Bous- quet’s nomenclature, classification, and phylogenetic order of the tribes. The relevant hierarchal classification descends according to order Coleoptera: suborder Adephaga: superfamily Caraboidea = Geadephaga: families Trachy- pachidae, Rhysodidae, and Carabidae.

Sixteen new provincial records are reported, twelve from Nova Scotia, one from New Brunswick, and three from Prince Edward Island. Considérés comme disparus, Acupalpus exiguus et Chlaenius olivieri ont été retrouvés, alors qu’Agonum anten- narium, Bembidion elongatum, Bembidion fumigatum, Dicheirotrichus placidus, Patrobus septentrionis et Platynus longiventris n’avaient plus été signalés à l’échelle nationale depuis plus de 20 ans. In this study, the occurrence and abundance of ground beetles were analysed according to habitat preference and dispersal ability. A total of 65 carabid species were found in the three green areas. Obviously, the high species richness of ground beetles in the greenery of the Lublin is determined by the mostly undeveloped floodplain of the river Bystrzyca. The species richness of carabids and their relative abundance decrease in the assemblage of green areas under the effect of isolation of green patches and fragmentation of the semi-natural landscape elements in the urban environment. Generalists and open-habitat species significantly prevailed in all green areas. The prevailing of riparian and forest species at floodplain sites of the river Bystrzyca demonstrated the existence of a connection of the carabid assemblage with landscape of river valley. The Saski Park and gully “Rury” are more influenced by urbanization (fragmentation, isolation of green patches) and recreation that is consistent with the significant prevalence of open-habitats species in the carabid beetle assemblage.
