Hawaiian text and English translation of the earliest known published information on Hawaiian medicine: stories, chants, diseases, treatment. Articles first appeared in the Hawaiian language newspaper, Ka Hae Hawaii (The Hawaiian Flag), between 1850 and 1859, as "told by a native informant in 1837, or perhaps earlier," thus antedating David Malo's account in Hawaiian of about 1840.
