GEORGE MACDONALD PENMAN’S JAZZMEN eorge MacDonald will host a folk & traditional music session on Saturday & Sunday Gafternoons in the Struan Bar, Mountstuart Road, Rothesay. 25th Year George is a well known face on the Bute music scene, hosting regular weekly sessions in the Black Bull pub in Rothesay (Tuesday evenings) and in the Port Inn in Port Bannatyne (Thursday evenings).

Eating Out Down Memory Lane There’s plenty of choice if you are eating out, but please remember to make a reservation, since the restaurants get very busy over the Festival weekend. Some restaurants may be offering entertainment to diners. Festival tickets are NOT valid for these jazz dining events and if you wish to attend you will need to make a dinner reservation direct with the establishment.

Motorhomes Free parking for motorhomes is available on the Promenade behind the Discovery Centre. Access is from Victoria Street opposite Zavaroni’s Café, which is convenient for breakfasts. There are shower facilities on the pier at the Victorian Toilets.

Out of Town Venue There is one venue out of town at the Kingarth Hotel, Kingarth, not far from Kilchattan Bay. Admission to this venue is by Weekend Rover Ticket or by a Single Session Ticket. Please check with the Festival Office or with the venue to ensure that you will be able to get in since capacity is limited. You can travel by West Coast Motors service bus, but please check the timetable!

Ticket Checking Ticket checking will be carried out by members of the Rotary Club and by volunteers who have kindly agreed to assist this year. Venue staff and Committee members will conduct random ticket checks at various times during the weekend, so please ensure that you have a valid ticket for your concert.

Jam Sessions The Festival Jazz Jam Sessions will take place in the Glenburn Hotel bar on Saturday and in the Pavilion Café on Sunday from 1200 until 1500 hours. The Saturday afternoon session is for ‘All Comers’ and the Sunday ‘Pro’ Jam Session at the Pavilion Café will be an opportunity to see some of the visiting stars play together in an informal setting. If you fancy a blow or a song, come along and join the fun. It’s a good opportunity to meet and greet some of the musicians who are entertaining you this weekend. Rover and Single Session Tickets are valid for this session.
