Austin Brittingham from Berlin, MD caught and released his 1st white marlin while fishing on the “Reel Joy” with Michael Brittingham, Taylor McCart, Susan McCart, Maria Brittingham, Capt. Dale Gurgo and Mates Andy Helms and Daniel Reid. The fish was hooked on a trolled, naked ballyhoo in 400 fathoms in the Baltimore Canyon. Michael also released his first white marlin during the trip.

Danny and Nancy Cox were joined by Rob and Markey Jager for a day of flounder fishing near the Rt. 50 Bridge and ended up with 7 keepers in the box ranging from 19.5-inches to Rob’s 24.5-inch, 6 lb. 2 oz. flattie. All of the fish were caught on live spot and bunker.

After a two year hiatus, the Challenge Cup trophy returned to Ocean City on Saturday when anglers representing the Ocean City Marlin Club released 34 white marlin to beat those from the Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club who released 30 white marlin, during what ended up being a one day tournament. The Ocean City contingent was represented by 13 boats and the Cape May team arrived with 23 boats. Scoring is determined by using the top 6 boats from each team. Overall, 50 white marlin were released by each of the teams with most recorded in 30-50 fathoms inside the Norfolk Canyon. The flounder was hooked on a amberjack while fishing on “Carol’s Teakettle” with Tim Brinker live spot in the East Channel. The group also went home with a 3/4 and Mitch Hamby from Selbyville, DE. Kate Fingles from the Ocean City Fishing Center Tackle Shop, released her first white marlin, estimated at 80 lbs., while fishing on the “Miss Annie” with Ryan Ellerman, Eddie Ellerman, Jeanette Beatley, Gary Beach, Capt. Matt Rabenstine and Mate Nick Lucov. Kate released the white marlin after hooking it on a naked ballyhoo in the Norfolk Canyon. Eddie also released his first white marlin during the trip.

John Justison Jr. and John Justison, III of New Castle, DE caught these flounder, weighing 4.8 lbs. and 5.6 lbs., while drifting cut bunker in the Indian River Inlet. Weighed at Hook’em & Cook’em Outfitters in South Bethany.
