Bettini 14/11, I16162 Genova, Italy Abstract— The paper is aimed at integrating and updating the first edition of the checklist of Ligurian macrofungi. Data are related to mycological researches carried out mainly in some holm-oak woods through last three years. The new taxa collected amount to 172: 15 of them belonging to Ascomycota and 157 to Basidiomycota. It should be highlighted that 12 taxa have been recorded for the first time in Italy and many species are considered rare or infrequent. Each taxa reported consists of the following items: Latin name, author, habitat, height, and the WGS-84 Global Position System (GPS) coordinates. This work, together with the original Ligurian checklist, represents a contribution to the national checklist. Key words—mycological flora, new reports Introduction Liguria represents a very interesting region from a mycological point of view: macrofungi, directly and not directly correlated to vegetation, are frequent, abundant and quite well distributed among the species. This topic is faced and discussed in Zotti & Orsino (2001). Observations prove an high level of fungal biodiversity (sometimes called “mycodiversity”) since Liguria, though covering only about 2% of the Italian territory, shows more than 36 % of all the species recorded in Italy. -

Most species in this genus are ectomycorrhizal symbionts of various plants, and some of them are well-known edible mushrooms, making it an exceptionally important group ecologically and economically. The scientific problems related to this genus include that the identification of species in this genus from China need to be verified, especially those referring to European or North American species, and knowledge of the phylogeny and diversity of the species from China is limited. In this study, we conducted multi- locus (nrLSU, tef1-a, rpb2) and single-locus (ITS) phylogenetic investigations and morphological observisions of Leccinum from China, Europe and North America. -

A comprehensive description and illustrations are provided. Key words — Basidiomycota, truffle, Octavianiaceae Introduction While walking along an elephant trail collecting mushrooms in a bamboo grove in Khao Yai National Park, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand, we encountered a rose-colored fungus where recent rain had washed away the topsoil. The distinctive characteristics of this species, besides the rose color of its basidiocarps, were that it bruised deep reddish violet, contained non-glutinous gleba, and had clamp connections in the peridial layer and basidia containing only two highly ornamented spores. Its micromorphology clearly placed it in Octaviania and it is the first record of this genus from Thailand. Octaviania is included in the group of sequestrate basidiomycetes called truffles. In the present study, we investigate the phylogenetic relationships among the Leccinellum; Leccinum; leccinoid fungi and other members of the family Boletaceae using portions of three loci from Rossbeevera; Turmalinea;10 nuc 28S rDNA (28S), translation elongation factor 1-α (TEF1), and the RNA polymerase II second- new taxa largest subunit (RPB2). Two DNA data sets (combined 28S-TEF1 and 28S-TEF1-RPB2), comprising sequences from nearly 270 voucher specimens, were evaluated using two different phylogenetic analyses (maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference). Five major clades were obtained, and leccinoid fungi appeared in four of them. -

In order to elucidate the properties and place- biogeography ment of several undescribed sequestrate taxa in the group and to reveal the evolutionary history of Rossbeevera and cryptic species its allies, we conducted phylogenetic analyses based on three nuclear (ITS, nLSU, EF-1α) and two mitochondrial DNA barcoding DNA loci (ATP6 and mtSSU) as well as precise morphological observations. Phylogenetic analyses of three nuclear hypogeous fungi loci suggest a complex evolutionary history with sequestrate fruiting bodies present in several clades, including a introgression previously unrecognized sister clade to Rossbeevera. Here we propose a new sequestrate genus, Turmalinea, with species tree four new species and one new subspecies as well as two new species of Rossbeevera. The three-locus nuclear phylogeny resolves species-level divergence within the Rossbeevera-Turmalinea lineage, whereas a separate phylogeny based on two mitochondrial genes corresponds to geographic distance within each species-level line- age and suggests incomplete lineage sorting (ILS) and gene introgression within several intraspecific lineages of Rossbeevera. Furthermore, topological incongruence among the three nuclear single-locus phylogenies suggests that ancient speciation within Rossbeevera probably involved considerable ILS. -

Abstract: A compilation study has been made of the mycorrhizal Agaricomycetes from several sclerophyllous and deciduous Mediterranean Quercus woodlands from Iberian Peninsula. Firstly, we selected eight Mediterranean taxa of the genus Quercus, which were well sampled in terms of macrofungi. Afterwards, we performed a database containing a large amount of data about mycorrhizal biota of Quercus. We have defined and/or used a series of indexes (occurrence, affinity, proportionality, heterogeneity, similarity, and taxonomic diversity) in order to establish the differences between the mycorrhizal biota of the selected woodlands. The 605 taxa compiled here represent an important amount of the total mycorrhizal diversity from all the vegetation types of the studied area, estimated at 1,500–1,600 taxa, with Q. ilex subsp. ballota (416 taxa) and Q. suber (411) being the richest. We also analysed their quantitative and qualitative mycorrhizal flora and their relative richness in different ways: woodland types, substrates and species composition. The results highlight the large amount of mycorrhizal macrofungi species occurring in these mediterranean Quercus woodlands, the data are comparable with other woodland types, thought to be the richest forest types in the world.
