Yet Alma also pro- duced an extensive body of information graphics over the course of the 1930s. Working first in Vienna at the Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftsmuseum [Social and Economic Museum] (GWM) and later setting up an independent design firm in Amsterdam, Alma became one of the principal Dutch practitioners and promoters of the design approach known as the “Vienna Method of Picto- rial Statistics.” To date, most accounts of this method’s history have focused on its chief inventor, Austrian social scientist Otto Figure 1 Neurath, and his principal collaborators, Germans Marie Neurath August Sander, photograph of Peter Alma, (née Reidemeister) and Gerd Arntz.1 Yet Alma’s work in pictorial late 1920s. Willem Sandberg – Portrait of an Artist – Chapter 6 ARTIST ORGANISATION AND RESISTANCE It wasn’t until 1932 that I stuck my head in the life of the Dutch artists organisation. I received a request at that time to become a member of VANK, the Vereiniging voor Ambachts- en Nijverheidskunst – the Association for Trade and Industry Art. I had never heard of the VANK, but I became a member. At a certain moment, I was even an active member and held administrative offices, including a seat in the Committee for non- permanent exhibitions in the Stedelijk Museum – for VANK members and others – and in the Exhibition Committee for the Dutch department at the World Exhibition in Paris. The Chairman of the VANK was Jean-François van Royen, a master typographer and, as we always said, in his spare time secretary-general of the PTT. He was owner of the Cunera Press and that was his real work. This man had, between the two great wars, a positive influence on the whole artist community, the life of the artist association and the position of the artist. First, he had a lot of work to award via the Postal services: for designing postcards or stamps, fitting out post-offices, designing letter boxes and so on. But he extended his influence far beyond this. He had, together with his friend , the architect De Bie Leuvelink Tjeenk, a great influence on the artist association life in this country. Tjeenk was, at the time that I knew him, Chairman of the BNA, the Bond voor Nederlandse Architecten [Association for Dutch Architects]. -

If it was possible to obtain the missing page(s) or section, they are spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. This may have necessitated cutting thru an image and duplicating' adjacent pages to insure you complete continuity. 2. When an image on the film is obliterated with a large round black mark, it is an indication that the photographer suspected that the copy may have moved during exposure and thus cause a blurred image. You will find a good image of the page in the adjacent frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., was part of the material being photographed the photographer followed a definite method in "sectioning" the material. It is customary to begin photoing at the upper left hand corner of a large sheet and to continue photoing from left to right in equal sections with a small overlap. If necessary, sectioning is continued again — beginning below the first row and continuing on until complete. 4. The majority of users indicate that the textual content is of greatest value, however, a somewhat higher quality reproduction could be made from "photographs" if essential to the understanding o f the dissertation. -

The Dutch royalty owns major multinational corporations such as Royal Dutch Shell, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Philips Electronics and Holland-America Line.1 The royal family has evolved its interests as a high-level authority currently operating as a branch of the Vatican’s Roman empire, wielding considerable influence over such powerful entities as the Rand Corporation, Koch Industries, Princeton University (founded in honor of the House of Orange), some of the world’s largest banks including AMRO and investment firms like BlackRock,2 the largest financial asset management institution on the planet, worth an estimated $7.4 trillion in client assets.3 Coincided by design with the planned Corona scamdemic, this year BlackRock’s been busily bailing out the US Federal Reserve, buying billions worth of bonds to keep the house of cards economy from imploding, in one fell swoop in April seizing control over the US Treasury and Federal Reserve.4 This private, unelected monolith has monopoly control now over the entire US economy as the centralized economic chokehold over the global masses prepares to tighten its death grip noose over humanity.5 As the long planned implosion of the world economy goes up in smoke, by engineered design, this latest power grab amidst the so called pandemic crisis is all about consolidation of power and control into fewer and fewer hands, lending new meaning to the thoroughly bankrupted USA Corporation owned and operated by the financial juggernaut of “the Crown.”6 The stakes have never been higher in 2020. -

Gebiedsbeschrijving Hoogvliet 1. Algemene beschrijving 1.1 Verleden en heden Verleden Het oorspronkelijke vissersdorpje ligt tussen de raffinaderijen van Shell en de snelweg A15 in het Noorden en de Oude Maas in het Zuiden. Hoogvliet staat in Rotterdam bekend om de enorme, grootschalige herstructurering waarvan de uitvoering nu over de helft is. Het is het verhaal van een klein dijkdorp dat na de oorlog transformeerde in de eerste Nederlandse satellietstad: een nieuwe woonplek voor werknemers in de petrochemie en de Rotterdamse haven. Na de economische ontwikkelingen en reorganisaties in de jaren zeventig en tachtig verloren de industriearbeiders hun baan en vonden niet gemakkelijk nieuw werk. Hoogvliet verloor vervolgens de slag om de middenklasse en tussen 1976 en 1985 vertrokken bijna 6.000 mensen uit Hoogvliet. Met de benijdenswaardige titel van ‘afvoerputje van de woningmarkt’ (VROM 2004), getekend door verhuurproblemen en een cumulatie van sociale kwesties bond Hoogvliet de strijd aan met de verloedering. Sinds 1999 wordt de woningvoorraad in Hoogvliet ingrijpend vernieuwd. Door middel van een grote herstructurering van de woningvoorraad, onder leiding van deelgemeente en twee betrokken corporaties, werd het plan gesmeed een groot deel van alle woningen in Hoogvliet (iets minder dan een derde) te vervangen door een even groot aantal beter in de markt liggende nieuwbouwwoningen. Hierbij werd vanaf het begin af aan rekening gehouden met de sociale en economische componenten van de herstructurering. Heden Sinds 2001 wordt in Hoogvliet elke 2 jaar de leefbaarheidsmonitor afgenomen. Hierin wordt de leefbaarheid in de meest brede zin van het woord gemeten op buurtniveau in Hoogvliet. Daartoe is een indeling met 23 buurten gekozen. -

Honings introduction ‘From 1926 until after the war Bijvoet, who for years now has lived and worked in Haarlem, spent most of his time in France, although he still got commissions from the Netherlands (one was for the Gooiland Hotel in Hilversum). In Paris it was interior design that received his care and attention. During those years he designed, in collaboration with Pierre Chareau, numerous costly conversions and interiors of prominent Paris apartments.’1 contacts There is no way of finding out whom Bijvoet consorted with in Paris, as there are virtually no sources to draw on. We do know that he worked with Chareau and Beaudouin & Lods, that he lived for several of the war years in the Dordogne with Marcel Lods, András Szivessy (André Sive) and Vladimir Bodiansky and that he was in touch with Le Corbusier (according to a letter to the Andriessens). He must have been influenced by each of them. From this you might contend that the curved wall of the golf club house in Beauvallon, which Bijvoet designed early on in his association with Chareau, derives from the one in the salon of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret’s Maison La Roche (1923–1925). Maybe the round columns do too. A new departure for Bijvoet at the time, from then on he would scarcely use anything else. It also makes sense to compare their Villa Vent d’Aval, located near the golf club and completed by André Barbier-Bouvet after the war, with Le Corbusier’s Maison Cook (1926). -

Jan Frederik Staal Jan Frederik Staal (Amsterdam, 28 février 1879 - là, 8 avril 1940) était un architecte néerlandais. Staal s'est établi en 1902, avec Alexander Kropholler (1881-1973), comme architecte dans l'entrepreneur hollandais de son père, Staal et Haalmeyer. À partir de 1903, ils ont conçu des bâtiments, qui ont également été construits par l'entrepreneur de son père. Certains bâtiments conçus par Staal et Kropholler sont les bureaux de la compagnie d'assurance-vie " De Utrecht " à Amsterdam et Leeuwarden. En 1910, la coopération entre Staal et Kropholler a été rompue et Staal a commencé à exécuter ses projets dans le style de l’école d’Amsterdam. Les villas du parc Meerwijk à Bergen (1917-1918) furent ses premiers bâtiments dans ce style. D'autres créations de Staal sont la vente centrale de fleurs à Aalsmeer , un bâtiment de 12 étages avec le surnom de Skyscraper à Amsterdam , le pavillon hollandais de l' Exposition des arts décoratifs et industriels de 1925 à Paris , le bâtiment principal du journal De Telegraaf (de nos jours de Kas-Bank) sur le Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal à Amsterdam, les Koopmansbeurs à Rotterdam et diverses maisons à Amsterdam Rivierenbuurt . La conception du concours de Staal pour un opéra sur la place Museumplein à Amsterdam n'a pas été réalisée: bien que son entrée ait été préférée en 1920, l'opéra n'a pas été réalisé. Plus tard, il a utilisé des motifs pour sa vente aux enchères de fleurs et son bâtiment Telegraaf. Staal est un architecte néerlandais très important qui a progressé organiquement de l'architecture de l'école d'Amsterdam à la Nouvelle Objectivité.
