6 The Vail Voice To place an ad call: 520-490-0962 A Vigil in Vail Over 1,500 people came together Thursday night to grieve, pray, and show their solidarity during this diffi cult time. The ceremony was led by religious leaders from many diff erent faiths, from across the community. As the sun went down, they prayed for families, for healing, and for Vail's children.

As night fell, people took to the fi eld with their candles, lighting up the sky with their symbolic showing of hope, love, and togetherness. As they walked around the track, each person left a thumbprint on canvases - souvenirs of the community's support.

The Vail School District would like to thank the local faith community, the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce, the Rincon Valley Fire Department, the U.S. Army, the Knights of Columbus, The Pima County Sheriff 's Department, the Vail Youth Symphony, the Cienega Orchestra, East Lawn Cemetery, and the countless volunteers that helped make the beautiful night possible.

Tragedies have torn apart our community. Love has helped put it back together.
