Em Heródoto, τεῖχος é a ação tomada pelos administradores jônicos ao fortificar suas cidades e resistir ao poder armado persa comandado por Ciro II (HERODOTUS, 1975). A origem da ficção, como τεῖχος, instaura uma separação entre os gregos e os não-gregos através da construção de muros. A ameaça do outro, na figura do persa, institui um “Eu” – o grego. A ficção estabelece a proteção diante do outro, na medida que o separa de mim.
