Supper for boarders. 19.00 House meeting followed by activities for Juniors or prep for Middle School and Sixth Form. 4 PASTORAL CARE ANSON, HOOD AND HOWE THE HOUSE SYSTEM Senior Girls’ Houses for boarders and Day Boarders in Years 9-12. ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TUTOR SYSTEM ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL Every pupil has a dedicated tutor who meets with his or her LANGUAGE (EAL) tutee on a regular basis and keeps in touch with parents regarding English lessons with specialist teachers specifically for those pupils academic progress. for whom English is not their first language. The aim is to make the school curriculum more accessible and, as necessary, prepare ABLE GIFTED AND TALENTED pupils for public examinations such as the Cambridge Main Suite Examinations or IELTS qualification for entry to University in the UK. Pupils who show excellent potential and ability in a particular academic subject or co-curricular area of school life may be put forward for this nationally recognised scheme that demonstrates that high achievement is valued and success is celebrated. LEARNING SUPPORT Support is provided on a one-to-one basis or in small groups for pupils needing some additional help with study skills, revision techniques, literacy and numeracy. Teachers are also provided with strategies to support pupils in their main lessons. 6 CO-CURRICULAR The School places great importance on achievements outside the classroom and every pupil is encouraged to become fully involved in school life. This involvement helps produce interesting, well-rounded individuals who will contribute to society in life beyond school. There is a wide range of organised activities and societies and all pupils are encouraged to try something new.
