Chapter 1 examines the extent to which the individual FE colleges' disability statements meet the criteria specified in 1996 regulations governing FE colleges' disability statements. Included throughout Chapter 1 are numerous examples of good practice in 423 (980) of the policy statements that indicate the institutions' commitment to respond flexibly to all students, including those with disabilities. The examples illustrate policy statements by focusing on the following items: overall policy, admissions arrangements, education facilities and support, other support, examination arrangements, physical access, and complaints and appeals procedures. -
