"Sound magician", "brilliant virtuoso of great format" and "Russian Eusebius" are only some of the attributes that music critics attribute to pianist Denys Proshayev. Born in Brest, Belarus, he studied with Professor Vladimir Krainev, a master student of the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus, at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover. In addition, Proshayev worked for several years as an assistant in Professor Krainev's master class. At the same time, he trained as a Kapellmeister under Professor Eiji Oue in . After numerous successes at international competitions, including the Clara Haskil Competition in Vevey, the Vladimir Horowitz Competition in Kiev and the European Piano Competition in Bremen, the young pianist's international breakthrough followed with first prize at the ARD International Music Competition 2002. Further prizes and honours document the artist's esteem. He was awarded the coveted soloist prize of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which musicians such as , Daniel Müller-Schott and Daniel Hope have already received. Proshayev has received invitations from numerous renowned orchestras, including the Philharmonic, the Danish National Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Orchestras of the HR, WDR, MDR, SWR and NDR, the Czech Philharmonic, the Kremerata Baltica, the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, the Osaka and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic. The pianist has worked with conductors such as Gerd Albrecht, John Neal Axelrod, Daniel Inbal, Alexander Dmitriev, Roman Kofman, Andrea Marcon, Eiji Oue, Michael Sanderling, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Stefan Solyom and others. He is at home in important concert halls such as the Herkulessaal in Munich, Salzburg Mozarteum, Konzerthaus Berlin, Gewandhaus zu Leipzig, Baden-Badener Festspielhaus, Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Mercatorhalle Duisburg and the Philharmonies of Cologne, Warsaw, St. Petersburg and Kiev. His chamber music partners include Gábor Boldoczki, Veronika Eberle, Arabella Steinbacher, Daniel Müller-Schott and the Quarteto Casals. As part of the project "b. 10" by Ballett am Rhein, which enjoyed great success in the 2011/12 season, Denys Proshayev was invited by choreographer Martin Schläpfer to perform A. Schnittke's piano solo part in the music for piano and orchestra. Re-engagements followed constantly in the following periods. In spring 2016 Denys Proshayev could be heard again at the piano in the new production of Martin Schläpfer's "b.27".

Denys Proshayev was conductor of the Prussian Chamber Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2011, the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra appointed him its first guest conductor.

His CD with works by Jean-Philippe Rameau, released by Sony in 2006, received the highest praise from music lovers and the specialist press and was included in "Die Zeit"'s own Classic Enjoyment Edition - along with CDs by Evgeny Kissin, Midori and Mariss Jansons - as well as being awarded one of the "100 Best Classical CDs". In autumn 2013 Piano Classics released a CD with the "Papillons" op. 2, the "Davidsbündlertänzen" op. 6 and the "Arabeske" op. 18. Spring 2014 saw the recording of Alfred Schnittke's Concerto for Piano and Strings (dedicated to V. Krainev, teacher Denys Proshayevs) with the string soloists of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic under the baton of Alexander Dmitriev. His most recent recording appeared in September 2019, also on Piano Classics, "Baroque Suites", with works by J.S. Bach, J.P. Rameau and the first recording of A. Schnittke's "Suite im Alten Stil", arr. for piano four hands and recorded with his piano partner Nadia Mokhtari.

The 2018/19 season saw renewed invitations from the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Duisburg Philharmonic with B. Bartok's Third Piano Concerto and the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Stefan Solyom with J. Brahms's First Piano Concerto. In piano and chamber music recitals the artist performed in Berlin (Konzerthaus), Vienna, at the Klavierfrühling Deutschlandsberg and at the Tonebank Music Festival (USA).

In 2019/20 Denys Proshayev is a two-time guest at the Kammerakademie Potsdam, as soloist in the symphony concert and in the chamber music evening with a program on the occasion of Alfred Schnittke's 85th birthday. Further solo recitals follow in the Frauenkirche Dresden, Kiewer Philharmonie, Salle Moliere in Lyon and Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore.

In 2018 Denys Proshayev founded the "Musikfest Wasserschloss Gesmold" together with Nadia Mokhtari and the von Hammerstein family. The unique piano festival in the heart of Lower Saxony is an annual event that presents great piano music in the historical, cosy atmosphere of the Renaissance palace, as it was at the time of great composers of the 18th or 19th century. Several international soloists have performed here, including Elisabeth Leonskaja, Oleg Maisenberg, Alexander Ghindin, Dinara Klinton, Oleg Poliansky and prizewinners of major international competitions.
