Membership in the Society grew by more than 2000, passing 45,000. Many of these new members are students, which bodes well for the future of physics and APS. The APS March Meeting had over 7400 participants, an all-time high and an astounding number for those of us who remember that when this figure reached I4000, people complained the meeting was too large! Submission of articles to APS journals also continued its growth, and wonderful new scientific results were published: unbelievable precision in the electron’s magnetic moment, new evidence for dark energy in the early universe, antimatter hydrogen atoms, new insight into the properties of graphene, energy landscapes predict gene regulation, and many more.
