‘Military Wives’ film Press Release

Lionsgate UK is proud to present MILITARY WIVES, a film inspired by the phenomenon that in turn has continued to inspire people globally to come together and support each other by forming communities that are bonded through uncertainty and strengthened with support. Now with over 2,000 members the Military Wives Choirs Charity has become a global phenomenon, and Lionsgate is thrilled to work with them to bring the story of the choir to cinemas and inspire the nation through song

Theirs is an inspirational story of friendship, love, and support on the home front. It started with a group of women uniting as their partners serve in Afghanistan. Together they form the very first military wives choir, helping each other through some of life’s most difficult moments and also becoming a media sensation and global movement in the process.

Named “The feel-good film of the year” (James King, BBC 2), ‘Military Wives’ provides the community of women across the military a special opportunity to share their stories. In the true spirit of ‘Stronger Together’, three independent charities are coming together to promote the film.

“We are so excited for the upcoming film and what this has in store for us. It’s sure to be something very special and will resonate with so many women across the military community.”

Leading up to and throughout the release of the film, the Military Wives Choirs charity will be directly involved with Lionsgate in media opportunities and other activity to help promote the film and the story of their beginnings.

The three charities: Catterick Military WAGS Choir, Chivenor, Military Ladies Choir, and the Military Wives Choirs are three independent charities. Each charity exists to provide support and shared experiences for women across the tri-service military community, including military wives, women who serve, mothers and daughters and those with a current military connection. Between them, the three organisations now support over 2,500 women within the military community to increase well-being through singing.
