Maui Wowi FAQ for Your Bar/Bat Mitzvah Party Maui Wowi FAQ For Your Bar/Bat Mitzvah Party Maui Wowi caters hundreds of bar and bat mitzvahs every year. Kids love our all- natural, non-fat fruit smoothies, frozen cappuccinos, frozen chocolate drinks as well as our hot drinks – Hawaiian coffee, espresso, lattes, and hot cocoas. Here are some frequently asked questions (and answers) about having Maui Wowi at your mitzvah party. Do your smoothies contain alcohol? No. We can add alcohol for adults’ drinks to make an awesome pina colada, daiquiri or margarita, but our blends are alcohol free. When we make a spiked drink, we add the alcohol to the cup, not the blender. We can also add your favorite cordial or liquor to espresso drinks for adults – Bailey’s, Sambuca, Grand Marnier and Irish Whisky are favorites. If you provide the alcohol, we will pour it for guests. What’s your setup look like? That’s up to you. Our typical setup is a portable tiki bar, like this: It’s four feet wide and about seven feet tall with the tiki roof. Our servers typically wear Hawaiian shirts. But if your theme isn’t Hawaiian, island, or beach, that’s no problem. We can remove the thatched roof and just use the lower part of the bar. We can also use a bar provided by your catering venue. Our servers can wear whatever is appropriate for your event (black button down shirts and pants, for example). We serve each smoothie with a cocktail umbrella, which kids love. If for whatever reason you’d rather not have the umbrella in the drinks, just let us know. What’s your espresso set up look like? We can use our tiki bar if it fits your theme, or a linen-covered table. How many people can you serve? As many as you want. We’ve done events for 50 guests, as well as for several thousand. Bar/bat mitzvahs are generally between 100-250 guests and we’ll have one bar and two servers. We can make hundreds of smoothies an hour so your guests will not be kept waiting. With espresso drinks, we can make about 60 an hour and complement lattes with hot cocoas and coffee to serve hundreds an hour. How many flavors can we have? We will give you a list of smoothie flavors to choose from, and you can have three. Why three? We find that having more than three flavors complicates your guests’ choices and slows down service. Would you like us to create a signature flavor for your mitzvah boy or girl? Let us know their favorite flavor combinations and we’ll add it to the menu with a personalized name. How many hours of serving time do you provide? As many as you want. Most clients want us to be open for the duration of their party. Kids like our smoothies from the beginning of a party right up until the end. If you’d prefer to do a smoothie or latte as guests are leaving, we can set up for the last hour or 90 minutes of your event. What kind of cups do you use? We use clear plastic 7-oz. cups for children’s’ smoothies and, if alcohol is being served, 12-oz cups for adults’ drinks. Some parents like to have a custom cup designed as a souvenir for their guests. Just let us know if you plan to do this. For hot drinks, we use plain white hot cups (8 oz.). We can use china cups if you or your caterer provides them. We’re having our mitzvah party at a catering hall. Will they allow you in? We have never had an issue working with catering halls, temples or other establishments. We make contact with the venue sales manager, provide them with all the information they need (including a Certificate of Insurance and proof of workers compensation coverage), and we bring all our own supplies (even ice). All we need is access to electric. We’re neat, clean and professional. Are Maui Wowi’s smoothies kosher? Yes, our smoothie blends are KOF-K dairy kosher. We’d be happy to email you our Kosher certification. How far in advance do we need to contact Maui Wowi? We have plenty of experienced Maui Wowi teams available, so even if your booking is last minute, chances are we’ll be able to accommodate you. But feel free to book us well in advance. What geographies do you serve? We are located in the New York metro area but we serve the entire MidAtlantic and Northeast region. We also have excellent partners in other parts of the country. We can handle all booking details for you no matter where you are located in the United States. How much does your service cost? Give us a call at 866.448.7792 or email [email protected] for pricing information. .

According to the arrest report, Heldenbrand, 42, stole the money from Simmons and office partner Dr. Ernest J. Gesiotto while she worked as their office manager and bookkeeper. She reportedly forged her name on their business checks and then deposited the funds into her personal banking account. Simmons told police that when he confronted Heldenbrand about the thefts, she admitted that she had committed the crimes over a period of about 1 1/2 years, which is the length of time she was employed there. Simmons reported this to the police Feb. 8. A police investigation revealed well in excess of 10 business checks of Simmons that had been made payable to cash, with Simmons' signature forged on them. They were endorsed "For Deposit Only" to the personal account of Heldenbrand and her husband.

  • James Matthew Wilson on a Cocktail Umbrella He Didn't Know the Place
James Matthew Wilson On a Cocktail Umbrella He didn’t know the place and sat alone, Braced between stool and bar, and drank his beer, A crowd of lilting voices just behind him. Five men, theatrical with their fay gestures, He watched them through the bottle-crowded mirror And knew the show that they were putting on. A game played on a set above his head, Its mass of muted faces crying out A warning he should leave. He had no place To go, and concentrated on his glass, The Bass Ale logo scratched away with washing, As if it were a thing of seriousness. Headlights from cars on 9th flashed in And turned its shadow clockwise over and over. The bar man’s shadow called him back, and, plunk, There, on the wood, before him now, a goblet Whose big-mouthed bowl was facetted and held A liquid, ruby dark with grenadine. The lip was loaded down with chunks of fruit, Orange slices twisted to a kind of writhing, Pineapple floating in a sea of ice cubes. And primly propped, surmounting all, a red Cocktail umbrella, fragile ribs outspread, And marked in gold with Chinese characters. “This one’s on your admirer,” he said. “My what?” he asked the barman, who had turned Away and pushed his towel down the rail To sop what this gargantuan mess had spattered. The room was long and narrow, hot with bodies, But open to the street so traffic sounds Passed over bunched up voices in the booths, Those bright and fawning laughs behind his back.

It was named after Li Po, one of the greatest poets in China’s Tang dynasty. It is a small and unpretentious place that has changed little since the 1930s. It features a wraparound bar with red leather booths, Chinese lanterns, a golden Buddha statue and pictures depicting the story of Li Po. Li Po Lounge is mentioned in numerous guidebooks as a place to visit when in San Francisco. Since 1997, the bar’s trademarked Chinese Mai Tai has been one of its most popular drinks. The original owners of the bar were Wilbert Wong and William Jack Chow. They were the owners from 1937 to 1967. Wilbert Wong initiated the idea of a public celebration for Chinese New Year in San Francisco in 1953 and organized the first Chinese New Year Festival and Parade. William Jack Chow was one of the country's first Chinese American lawyers and represented Chinese immigrants against federal immigration authorities. In addition to his law practice, he was actively involved in community and political activities and was widely known in the city.
