PAGE 28 OCTOBER 29, 2020 | NDMAG.COM | NIGHT & DAY MAGAZINE BY SAMANTHA MATTHEWS NIGHT & DAY MAGAZINE ince the inception of the Lakewood Blue- Claws in 2001 the team has been a Jersey Shore staple so it was only a matter of time before the team’s name refl ected that. On Wednesday, Oct. 21 at a VIP event in Asbury Park, the BlueClaws offi cially announced a name change and rebranding to the Jersey SShore BlueClaws. INTRODUCING THE JERSEY SHORE BLUECLAWS In late summer of 2017 BlueClaws president New New name, Joe Ricciutti came on board with the team’s new ownership group who recalls that from the Welcome samesame team beginning it struck them all that there were these beachy shore elements in the ballpark. After growing up at the Jersey Shore the JerseyJersey Shore boardwalk nostalgia inspired additions to the stadium. A midway was built out in centerfi eld with boardwalk games, a nine hole mini golf BlueClawsBlueClaws course and Shoretown Ice Cream. “ …The natural progression, the natural evolution was becoming the Jersey Shore BlueClaws as a natural extension of all that work that we did creating those shore elements inside of the ballpark; it just was a logical next step,” said Ricciutti. While Ricciutti admits that the name change came later, embracing the shore was something that was done from the start and after seeing it resonate with the fans the name change as a logical extension. According to Ricciutti, it was about a year to a year and a half ago that they started going through the process of deciding on a new name, logo and look.

NIGHT & DAY MAGAZINE | NDMAG.COM | OCTOBER 29, 2020 PAGE 29 The BlueClaws worked with Brandiose, a company from who works with a lot of minor league teams, on the rebranding project. Members of the Brandiose team came out in January to get their own taste for the uniqueness of the Jersey Shore. After spending two days at the shore, the Brandiose team went back to San Diego to start working on the drawings for the new design. After an extremely collaborative effort the rebrand evolved into what we see today. THE REBRAND AND FUTURE It’s clear that the rebranding is much more than just a name change. “And it's an opportunity to usher in kind of a new era in BlueClaws history,” said Ricciutti. The name change was about inclusion and embracing all that the Jersey Shore has to offer in addition to the town the stadium resides in. “We remain tremendous partners with the city of Lakewood,” he said. “We have a great partnership with them. We’re here in any and every way that the town needs us.” “The main change is it’s about embracing all of the shore towns up and down from north all the way down to Cape May,” he said. “So it’s an inclusion idea.” According to an article on the BlueClaws website, Phillies Red, Dark Atlantic Blue, Crab Blue and Golden Yellow make up the club's new offi cial colors. The BlueClaws are the only professional sports team to use this color combination. Four new caps with different shore themed logos were also released. Jersey Shore BlueClaws merchandise is already available for fans to shop online on the BlueClaws website. Ricciutti shared that the feedback that they have received from fans thus far on the rebrand has been extremely positive. “The message has resonated that this is about everybody and all of the shore communities can say this is our hometown team,” said Ricciutti.

WELCOME TO TUSCANY Guests can enjoy two great locations from one family at Tuscany. Tuscany Catering is located at 130a South Main Street in Marlboro and 285 Gor- dons Corner Road in Manalapan. “We’re in this together,” shared Vinny founder, owner and president. “These families are part of my family and we are here for the community in every way we can be.” “Throughout the pandemic, and throughout all the years of Tuscany, our family and staff remain earnestly committed to giving our best to our cus- tomers,” he added. “Right now, I hope that every- one can stay safe and healthy as we live through this unusual health concern in our nation. Tuscany is more than a business; it is a labor of love. Love is a great motivator. It happens to be one of my favorites.” Two non Italian entrees that people also enjoy are steak teriyaki and a pork loin. “Since the inception of Tuscany, Vinny has always been very mindful of blending fl avors and keeping every recipe consistent so that what people get the fi rst time, they’re going to get the next time,” said Waters. Upon request, Tuscany can also make gluten free dishes and vegetarian dishes to accommodate their guests better. Tuscany Catering also offers complete holiday dinners for pickup such as a Thanksgiving dinner as well as Christmas. “And all the cooking is done in our kitch- ens, everything, so it really is homestyle and it’s delicious,” she said. “We do that for Thanksgiving and then we also have a holiday menu, which is also very popular and then we’re open on Christmas Eve so people can pick that up then as well.” MORE OFFERINGS During the holiday season starting in the beginning of November, both locations are extremely festive to shop in with their sea- sonal decorations. Over the years Tuscany has also offered gift baskets for any occasion that can be shipped anywhere in the United States as well as gift cards. An exciting addition to the Tuscany family that was delayed due to COVID-19 is the opening of the company’s fi rst sit down restaurant. “We’ve never had a sit down restaurant before, but now we’re opening one next door to Tuscany in Marlboro and it’s called Molto and it probably will open for the public in the fi rst quarter of 2021 and we’re looking forward to being able to serve our customers in that way,” she said. Everything done at Tuscany stems from the owner. “He has put his heart into this business for all these years and has not changed one iota from that fi rst commit- ment,” said Waters. Follow Tuscany Catering on social media to stay up to date on all of their offerings. Look for the opening of Molto in February, 2021.
