The Impact of Atmospheric River Events in Preserved Stable Water Isotope Signature in the Snow Pack in Finse, Southern Norway
The impact of atmospheric river events in preserved stable water isotope signature in the snow pack in Finse, Southern Norway Evelien van Dijk Thesis submitted for the degree of Master in Physical Geography, Hydrology and Geomatics 60 credits Department of Geoscience Faculty of mathematics and natural sciences UNIVERSITY OF OSLO Spring 2018 The impact of atmospheric river events in preserved stable water isotope signature in the snow pack in Finse, Southern Norway Evelien van Dijk © 2018 Evelien van Dijk The impact of atmospheric river events in preserved stable water isotope signature in the snow pack in Finse, Southern Norway http://www.duo.uio.no/ Printed: Reprosentralen, University of Oslo Abstract Stable water isotopes have become a key element in hydrological and atmospheric research topics. Hydrologists aim to close the water cycle, and the improvement of measurement techniques and models makes that they come closer every time. Especially the atmospheric part of the cycle is not yet fully understood, and this study aims to get an increased understanding about the isotopic signals in the snow pack, and if the snow pack record may be used to derive an improved understanding of the importance of atmospheric river events for the Norwegian snow cover. The Finse area has been chosen as a proxy site for Norway, and 215 samples have been taken to analyze for stable water isotopes. 11 different snow profiles that were computed from snow pits that were excavated during the fieldwork were compared with the isotope values for δ18O and d-excess, and with meteorological data provided by the meteorological institute of Norway. -

Project Description and Program Download
PROJECT DESCRIPTION Student: Arnulf Mårdalen Hasle Title: Ly Subtitle: Sheltering from the elements of a rough climate in a remote area at Hardangervidda, Norway. Norway has long traditions of hunting and fishing, exploration and an extensive use of nature around us and the resources it brings with it. The interest in what Norway has to offer has increased in recent decades with new records of visitors to the various tourist cabins and the famous destinations that offer exotic nature experiences. This also leads to an increasing amount of rescue missions year by year. In a report from Red Cross in 2017 they list up 225 missions only for missing persons on foot or skiing. The possibilities of seeking shelter in such situations are still inadequate especially with the increasing amount of people who use the mountain, and the need for emergency shelters is therefore, more relevant than ever. This applies not only to the most popular attractions but also to the more remote areas of the mountains. Through research and conversations with The Norwegian Trekking Association and Norwegian Red Cross I chose to focus on the trail between Finse or Krækkja at Hardangervidda for my project. This is a location which is a popular trekking and skiing destination, but also has challenges in distance and weather conditions which lead to dangerous situations and a discovered need for shelter. On this stretch I found two situations close to the trail appropriate for planning a shelter. My main focus has been on one of these sites, designing a site-specific emergency shelter that will provide for the most basic needs, as well as a smaller intervention at a second site. -

Brian My FP is still flying with the Feigao brushless. I also have a stock FP and actually prefer flying that, mostly because it’s lighter with the stock skids (the brushless heli has heavyweight landing gear). 2S LiPos (both 800’s and 1320’s) work very well on both. My recommendation is to resist the temptation to upgrade the FP (other then going Lipo) and add a CP heli when you are ready for more action. #2502 mrmuffinmanvw Nov 13, 2006 05:30 PM Quote: Originally Posted by bhbuster I don't think anyone in this thread is currently flying a brushless setup in their fp at the moment. SMITHSONIAN MISCELLANEOUS COLLECTIONS. MONOGRAPHS D I P T E R A NORTH AMERICA. PREPARED FOR THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION BY II . L E W. PART I. EDITED, WITH ADDITIONS, R. OSTEN SAC KEN WASHINGTON: SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION AI'KIL, 1SG2. ADVERTISEMENT. TriE present publication is the first part of a work on North American Diptera in process of preparation by Dr. H. Loew, of Meseritz, Prussia (one of the highest living authorities on the subject), undertaken at the especial request of the Smithsonian Institution. The materials have been derived principally from the collection of Baron R. Osten Sacken, of the Russian Legation in Washington, kindly intrusted to the author for examination. As explained by Dr. Loew, the work will appear in monographs of genera and families, sufficient materials being at hand for illus- trating particular groups only, without relation to their systematic sequence. The Institution is under obligations to Baron Osten Sacken for editing the work, adding species described by Dr. Loew subse- quent to the reception of his manuscript, and for correcting the proofs. He has also added a monograph of the Cecidomyidce, a group of much interest, and one to which it was considered of importance to call the early attention of investigators. JOSEPH HENRY, Secretary S. I. Smithsonian Institution, Washington, March, 1S62. ACCEPTED FOR PUBLICATION, JULY, 1SG1 PHILADELPHIA: COLLINS, PRINTER. PREFACE. The impulse to write on North American Diptera was given to me by Baron Osten-Sacken, who, first by sending me rich collections of such Diptera and finally by intrusting me with the greatest part of his own Diptera collected in North America, has enabled me to undertake this task, and, I hope, with some success. -
Darklight Volume 1 Greenville High
Darklight Volume 1 Greenville High Written by Jay Bradt Alejandra Soria © 2012-2016 Jay Bradt, Alejandra Soria. All rights reserved. 1 Part I Chapter 1. Greenville New York had always been a sleepy place. Nothing ever really happened there with the exception of the carnival that came through every August. This year it had been pushed back to September considering the weather had been strange. Aside from the Movie Theater and Braum Park (if you wanted to call a couple of trees and a duck pond a park) there wasn’t much to do other than wander the streets and haunt alleyways with the local riffraff. If there was anything Greenville was notorious for, it was its riffraff. Small time drugs and big time trouble were in no short supply at Greenville high, which was basically what most the kids were half the time. This year, as the summer came to an end, the entering freshman were subjected to a full day of classes, while those lucky enough to be upperclassmen were granted a peace offering of only a half day. Of course, nobody was happy about any day’s worth of sitting in a hot stuffy classroom, but as of nine-thirty that morning, the majority of the high school population was currently being deprived in favor of dark, under air-conditioned classes. Gathering his books from a small silver locker, a young man with dark hair, matching eyes and an exhausted expression made his way down the long suffocating halls towards his first class of a four period day that to him, already felt like a lifetime.
