Unfortunately, Europe has been less lucky with some awful weather at Orland and Wittmund! As aresult of all these UK and European shows this month’s magazine is a maximum 64 page issue. On top of all the show reports we have also received many reports from your travels - some of a sizeable nature and others just snippets. The excellent response to my pleas is very heartening and I hope this will continue! Because so much material has been received this month we could easily have had another 10 pages in the Foreign section, so this is held over to the August issue (the credits have also been held over again - apologies for this, but they will appear soon and will have all the names collected from each issue when they did not appear). We are also receiving a steady stream of images to use in the magazine and this is very heartening too - please keep them coming! For those people who only get the paper version of MAR you only see those printed on the covers - if you receive the PDF version then you would see up to an extra 5 pages of colour pictures. Remember, if you subscribe to the paper MAR then you are also entitled to a free PDF version - for those who might want to take up this option please email me at”[email protected]” detailing which email account you wish to use to access the magazines. It is a very simple and quick process and it also means you will be able to read the magazine each month a week earlier than you would if you had to wait for the paper issue to drop through your letterbox. COVER PHOTOGRAPH: German Navy P-3C 60+01 of MFG3 in a special 100th anniversary scheme to commemorate 100 years of Naval flying - seen here at Manching on June 18th (Dietmar Fenners ) Closing date for the July issue is 08.08.13 Brian Pickering 14.07.13 344 BRITISH REVIEW The last remaining RAF built VC-10 is due to be withdrawn from use week commencing 15.07 this is when it was due to depart to Bruntingthorpe. But, the aircraft has been practicing short runway landings during July at both Cranwell and Cosford to see if the aircraft can safely land at Cosford for preservation at the RAF Museum which is a fitting place for this aircraft. Let us hope it happens. The final mission for the 1419 Flight Merlin HC.3 has taken place from Camp Bastion, Afghanistan and all Merlin aircraft deployed out there will return to Benson where they will then transfer to the Royal Navy. During the 10 year long deployment to Afghanistan, the Merlin HC.3 has flown more than 18,00 hours, moved almost 8,000 tonnes of supplies for the loss of one aircraft. Finally, the third Lightning II ZM137 for the RAF has been delivered to Eglin AFB, Florida, USA on 25.06.2013.......
