We listed 60 holotypes and 453 paratypes Received: 11 October 2017 belonging to 20 families, and three species and one subspecies that were not found in the Accepted: 04 May 2018 collection but, according the original description, should be deposited in IFML. Finally, Published: 28 May 2018 we listed 15 species that are labeled and coded as types but that are no part of the original type series. -

CAI & W. RABITSCH Abstract: Forty-five species of Chinese ambush bugs belonging to three tribes, Phymatini, Carcinocori- ni, and Macrocephalini, are listed and keyed. Distribution maps of all species and habitus illustrations of a representative species of each of the nine genera, Agdistocoris, Amblythyreus, Carcinochelis, Carcino- coris, Chelocoris, Cnizocoris, Diurocoris, Glossopelta, and Phymata, are provided. The biology and rele- vance of this group in mountainous forest ecosystems are briefly discussed. Key words: Ambush bugs, China, distribution, Phymatinae, Reduviidae, taxonomy. Assessment of data from the pig revealed a successional pattern similar to that previously published – fresh, bloat, active decay, and advanced decay stages (the pig specimen never fully entered a dry stage before the semester ended). -

Graduate Program September 2017 ABSTRACT Enhancing forensic entomology applications: identification and ecology Sarah Victoria Louise Langer The purpose of this thesis is to enhance forensic entomology applications through identifications and ecological research with samples collected in collaboration with the OPP and RCMP across Canada. For this, we focus on blow flies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) and present data collected from 2011-2013 from different terrestrial habitats to analyze morphology and species composition. Specifically, these data were used to: 1) enhance and simplify morphological identifications of two commonly caught forensically relevant species; Phormia regina and Protophormia terraenovae, using their frons-width to head- width ratio as an additional identifying feature where we found distinct measurements between species, and 2) to assess habitat specificity for urban and rural landscapes, and the scale of influence on species composition when comparing urban and rural habitats across all locations surveyed where we found an effect of urban habitat on blow fly species composition. These data help refine current forensic entomology applications by adding to the growing knowledge of distinguishing morphological features, and our understanding of habitat use by Canada’s blow fly species which may be used by other researchers or forensic practitioners. E-mail:[email protected] Abstract A new species of Stenolemus Signoret, 1858, Stenolemus annulatus sp. nov. (Reduviidae: Emesinae) is described from India. This new species is closely related to S. susainathani Wygodzinsky from Nilgiri Hills, South India and S. larat Wy- godzinsky from Moluccas, Larat, by sharing common characteristics such as the ratio of distance between eyes and their width, long antennal first segment, slightly elevated postocular region of head and sharply divided pronotum into three parts, but can be easily separated by the following diagnostic characteristics: pronotum with petiole about as long as fore- lobe and 1.3 times shorter than hindlobe, first antennal segment with five annulations, rostrum creamy white and luteous at apex, basal and lateral areas of second segment; hind lobe of pronotum with 1+1 submedian conical rounded projec- tions; forecoxa shorter than hind lobe of pronotum, foretibia with one subbasal and one submedian annulation and hind femora reaching apex of forewings. A key to Indian species of the genus Stenolemus is given. -

As a result, a total of 117 species-subspecies belonging to 37 genera of the family Tettigoniidae, 6 species belonging to five genera of the family Gryllidae and one species belonging to one genus of the family Gryllotalpidae have been determined from the examined material. -

According to PUTSHKOV & MOULET (2009), who conducted a thorough compilation of the available ecological data, Stenolemus novaki is probably a xerothermic and heliophilous species with a preference for rocky areas. -
