Abstract Surabaya is a city of business, commerce, industry and is the basis of education in eastern Indonesia. Likewise the bases for the development of modern fine art are in urban areas.Surabaya is a big city with very rapid physical development in everywhere, one of them is the presence of gallery. The fine art gallery is one part of the infrastructure of the social field of art. Fine art gallery has important role and function in the development of modern fine art. In its position, the fine art gallery is a distributor of artworkcreated by artist as producer and presented to the public as consumer. Surabaya is one of the big cities that becominga part of the improvement of modern fine art. Where the basis of the development of modern art is influenced by infrastructure and superstructure synergistically to form the social field of art. In the decade of the 2000s,especially in Surabaya,it hasemerged many new galleries, both established by individual and private institution. Among them is the House of Sampoerna gallery which is a gallery managed by a large enough private company established in 2003 and it is actively holding exhibitions until now.The emergence of the gallery certainly has an impact and influence on the activity of fine art in Surabaya. This can be seen from the increasing exhibition activity held by the gallery. House of Sampoerna gallery as a public space has the obligation to carry out artistic activity and to increase the society appreciation of cultural and commercial values of artwork. [email protected] ABSTRAK Museum sebagai penyedia layanan informasi yang bersifat ilmiah, artinya informasi yang diberikan melalui koleksi merupakan bagian dari hasil penelitian. Keberhasilan dari museum tergantung dengan kualitas pengalaman layanan yang diberikan kepada pengunjung. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas layanan museum house of sampoerna Kota Surabaya. Analisis kualitas layanan museum ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode HISTOQUAl (History Quality) yang dimodifikasi dari metode SEVQUAL. Pada metode ini menggunakan lima dimensi yaitu Responsiveness (Daya Tanggap), Tangibel (Bukti Fisik), Communications (Komunikasi), Consumables (Barang Habis Pakai) dan Empathy (Empati). Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui (1) kualitas layanan museum house of sampoerna dalam skala cukup dengan perolehan skor rata-rata 3,39 (2) dimensi yang cukup berpengaruh pada kualitas layanan museum adalah Tangibel (Bukti Fisik) dengan perolehan skor rata-rata 3,56 yang termasuk dalam skala baik. (3) dimensi yang mendapatkan nilai skor rata-rata terrendah adalah Empathy (Empati) dengan perolehan 3,03. Kata kunci: Museum house of sampoerna, HISTOQUAL, Kualitas Layanan PENDAHULUAN Pada saat ini informasi berkembang dengan sangat cepat, perkembangan informasi didukung dengan pesatnya kemajuan teknologi. Advisor: Murni Fidiyanti, M.A. Keywords: Linguistic Landscape, Multilingualism, Tourist Space, Heritage Sites, Capital City and Provincial Town This thesis examines a linguistic landscape and multilingualism of Surabaya and Mojokerto’s heritage sites. This research aims to find out if the different areas of tourist spaces can affect the use of linguistic landscape. It examined the language used in the sign, the function displayed by the sign, and the purpose of displaying particular language on the sign. The theoretical framework used in this study is Landry and Bourhis’s theory which provides the definition of linguistic landscape and anything that is categorized as linguistic landscape. Besides, Spolsky and Coopers’ theory is also employed to analyze the language used in the sign and the function of the sign. As the methodology, the researcher used qualitative and quantitative method in this research. The applied method has helped the researcher reach the objectives of the study by gaining 689 pictures of signs which consist of monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual signs. The researcher also found nine languages used in four heritage sites: Indonesian, English, Javanese, Arabic, Dutch, Latin, Sansekerta, Chinese, and Maduranese. Six categories are provided according to the function of the sign: directional signs, instructional signs, warning notices and prohibitions, building names, informative signs, and advertising sign.
