  • Air Traffic Control the Netherlands Becomes KLM's Latest
Air Traffic Control the Netherlands becomes KLM’s latest biofuel partner Amstelveen, January 22nd 2018 - Air Traffic Control the Netherlands is joining KLM’s Corporate BioFuel Programme. This will enable KLM to increase investment in sustainable biofuel. Air Traffic Control the Netherlands will buy sustainable biofuel for all its business flights. “Sustainable biofuel makes a structural contribution to increasing the sustainability of the airline industry. KLM is committed to this aim, but cannot do it alone. It is therefore fantastic that more and more Dutch companies, like Air Traffic Control the Netherlands, are signing up to our Corporate Biofuel Programme. Together we can make a difference.” Pieter Elbers - KLM President & CEO “As air traffic control organization, we ensure the safety of air traffic in the Netherlands. Our employees also travel regularly outside the Netherlands to meet with our international partners. Air Traffic Control the Netherlands is delighted to be able to contribute to the sustainable development of the aviation sector by compensating for 100% of the CO2 emitted by our business flights with KLM. This is a great example of how we jointly facilitate aviation, in a sustainable way.” Michiel van Dorst, CEO Air Traffic Control the Netherlands Contact: SkyNRG Media Relations, tel. +31 20 470 20 20, [email protected], Rapenburgerstraat 109 – 1011 VL Amsterdam – The Netherlands – www.skynrg.com Cutting CO2 emissions KLM wants to cut its CO2 emissions 20% by 2020 (compared to 2011). To achieve this, KLM has been investing not only in sustainable biofuels, but also in new aircraft and more efficient flight operations. Using sustainable biofuels on a large scale can lead to an 80% cut in CO2 emissions, compared with fossil fuels.

From Airfield to AirportCity Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is more than just an airport. It’s actually a modern city with runways designed around a vibrant city centre. The airport is an international hub offering multi-modal forms of transport to both people and goods, with numerous From facilities. This is what makes Amsterdam Airport Schiphol an AirportCity. A city where everyone is welcome Airfield to but where no-one lives. It’s also a city that never sleeps. AirportCity April 2019 Royal Schiphol Group +31 (0)20 601 2673 schiphol.nl youtube.com/schiphol Welcome to Amsterdam Airport In more ways than one Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a remarkable airport. Schiphol Airport exists more than 100 years. Remarkable is also that it lies more than four metres below sea level on reclaimed land on the bottom of a former lake. Moreover, the airport is still situated on exactly the same site as where the first aircraft landed in 1916. Despite having expanded extensively, the airport has never moved from its original location. Amsterdam Airport AirportCity Schiphol is therefore the oldest international airport still on the same location. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has the atmosphere of a metropolis and is a shining example of an AirportCity: a leading, efficient airport that provides the full range of services required by visitors and companies located there 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Royal Schiphol Group is an airport company and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is its principal airport. We aim to create sustainable value for our stakeholders, with due regard for their various interests.

More specifically, the Passenger Network activity (Air France and KLM) saw its traffic increase by 2.4%, with a 5.4% increase in connections to North America, while the Transavia low -cost activity increased by 7.6%. For its part, Franco-Netherlands' cargo traffic fell by 3.8% last month on the basis of a 1.4% increase in capacity, resulting in a load factor that fell by 3.1 points to 57%. My comment: Since the beginning of the year, the Air France -KLM group has carried 80 million passengers, up 3.4% compared to the same period in 2018. I note that over these nine months, the load factor of the Franco -Dutch group was 6 points higher than that of the L ufthansa group (88.7% versus 82.8%); a performance to be credited to the combined Air France -KLM teams.

SCHIPHOL, 16 FEBRAUARY 2021 KLM and Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport begin transport of Covid-19 vaccines to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Today saw the first flight from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Bonaire and Aruba carrying a shipment of Covid-19 vaccines destined for the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is the first of several shipments that will deliver the vaccines to the various islands in the coming weeks. The vaccines were loaded into the aircraft in the presence of Dutch State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport, Paul Blokhuis, responsible for healthcare in the Dutch Caribbean, and Pieter Elbers, CEO of KLM. The Air France KLM Martinair Cargo division handles more than 80,000 pharmaceutical shipments annually and has many years of experience transporting temperature-controlled medicines. The distribution of Covid-19 vaccines poses specific transport and security challenges and the division has developed a dedicated process to ensure swift, reliable and safe distribution. “Many people have been working flat out for a year to get the coronavirus under control in the Caribbean region of the Kingdom. The first vaccines to reach all the islands this week mark a hopeful turning point in the struggle to end this crisis.” Paul Blokhuis, Dutch State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport “The arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine is very good news for us all. It brings us closer to ending the pandemic and the terrible crisis we have been facing worldwide for more than a year now. We worked with our cargo division in recent months to prepare swift and secure vaccine transport worldwide and we have now embarked on this highly complex and demanding task.
