The University of Bristol seeks to appoint an outstanding scholar with an international reputation in the History of Art, which may also include architectural history. The new professor will contribute to the vibrant interdisciplinary culture and research-intensive environment to which the University and Faculty of Arts are committed, providing academic vision and leadership to take the subject forward in the context of the new opportunities that the University's plans for enterprise, innovation and investment in the future are creating. The person appointed will be at the forefront of scholarship in any area or period of western art history, and will have an established record of excellence in research, publication and teaching.

The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts is a university museum housed in a Norman Foster building on the UEA campus. Its principal holdings are the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Collection of world art, the University of East Anglia Collection of Abstract and Constructivist Art, Architecture and Design and the Anderson Collection of Art Nouveau. In addition, the Centre mounts up to six temporary exhibitions each year.

We are seeking an established Conservator with excellent communication skills to join the Sainsbury Centre team. You will have considerable experience in the fields of preventive conservation and environmental monitoring and control, and will also be able to offer expertise in one or more of the following areas of specialisation: organic materials; works on paper; ceramics and sculpture.

You will also be expected to undertake a certain amount of teaching at both undergraduate (museum studies) and postgraduate (museology) levels and, from time to time, to supervise internships.

This full-time indefinite post is available immediately and salary will be the range £22,507 to £29,128 per annum.
