Visit www.alstom.com to learn more about our business. Our new site located in Brampton, ON has started the production of Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) for the Greater Toronto Area. Thus, in order to accompany us in this exciting challenge we are looking for a PEY student who will support our engineering team. Objective The Mechanical Engineering Co-op will be an integral part of the Train Design Engineering team for the Alstom Citadis Spirit tram-train product line. The position will be based out of the Alstom Brampton office, which is the production site of the Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) for the Finch West LRT, Hurontario LRT, and Ottawa O-Train. Responsibilities In the frame of the Train Design activities for the Citadis Spirit Greater Toronto Area (GTA): Investigate manufacturing issues raised on the vehicle production line and propose solutions to the project team at Change Control Board meetings; Support re-design and improvement activities for the Citadis Spirit product line; Create and review 3D designs and 2D drawings of various train systems and components in CATIA; Perform calculations and analysis related to structural integrity, kinematic interference, corrosion resistance, etc.; Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team to address project challenges and ensure timely delivery of vehicles. Profile/Requirements: Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD software packages. Previous work or academic experience with CATIA is an asset Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong fundamentals in engineering principles. Coursework in Solid Mechanics, Machine Design, Manufacturing, and Materials Science is an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills Self-initiative and ability to work independently Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams Ability to adapt and manage priorities; General knowledge of rolling stock and the railway industry is an asset Conditions Duration: 14 months – May 2020 to August 2021 Location: 7 Blair Drive, Brampton ON, Canada, L6T 2H4 A few potential travels (Canada/US) might occur.
