628. Hon Martin Aldridge to the Leader of the House representing the Premier
I refer to mobile devices, including tablets, that are provided to the Minister by the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC), and I ask: (a) what devices are used by the Minister that are funded by DPC; (b) what applications are installed on each device; ( c) what is the mobile data usage associated with each device, per month, for the last six months; (d) with respect to messaging applications that may be installed on the device(s), are these used for official communication purposes with the Ministers' staff, departments or stakeholders; and (e) how is the Minister ensuring if messaging applications are used, that the communications are secure, and records are maintained as required by the State Records Act 2000 and the Freedom ofInformation Act 1992?

The standard list of applications installed by DPC is in the tabled paper. c. [Please see tabled paper No] d. The official messaging application installed on all devices is the preinstalled Apple Message Application and is available for use by Ministers to communicate with their staff, departments or other stakeholders if they so choose. e. Departmental issued iOS devices default to the Apple iMessage platform which utilises encrypted point-to-point messaging protocols to ensure confidentiality. As per the Ministerial Code of Conduct, all Ministers are required to adhere to the provisions set out in the State Records Act 2000. TABLED PAPER- LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL QON 628 - (a) & (c)
