MDM Talk Handout Mobile Device Management (MDM) For iOS Devices My Mobile Device Management Recommendations: MY PRIORITIES • Device Performance • Device Security • Device task customization • Device Inventory Use MDM to manage: • Device Passcode (users often forget or change this, device recovery, remote wipe) • Install apps without users using their Apple ID • Push out a standard set of apps based on the dept. division the device has been assigned to. We have different set of apps for: Clerical, Management, Quarantine, F&V, Weights & Measures, Trapping, Pesticides, Vertebrate/Weeds. • Enforce the most current iOS and App updates, very important in iOS for app stability • Device Inventory and user assignment Prior to getting your iPads 1. Each user needs create an Apple id using their County issued government email account and address - Appleid.apple.com 2. When setting up the iPad, log in with the Users Apple ID (person assigned to using the iPad) in both the” iTunes & App Store” and “iCloud” (very important) 3. Each user needs to have their device backing up their data into their own iCloud account, that way it's so easy to restore the user/data/settings/email if and when they get a new device or change devices, we use it all the time, so easy. I also recommend purchasing for $.99/month 200 GB of iCloud storage for each apple id account. I use one county credit card to do this by logging into the icloud settings and making changing the storage options, very easy. Apple hits the credit card automatically each month and it can be stopped at anytime. Create a dedicated Apple ID for enrolling into and administering the Apple Volume Purchase Program VPP for your department (1st see if your IT department is already enrolled in VPP) 5. Volume purchase program for apps http://www.apple.com/business/vpp/ 6. MDM Solution – Enterprise mobile management software installed and enroll each device prior to handing them to users - https://airwatchexpress.com/ Volume Purchase Program (VPP), the process is basically this: 1. Enroll in the BUSINESS Volume Purchase Program by creating an Apple Deployment Programs account. You’ll be asked to create a dedicated Apple ID for administering the program and provide basic information about your business. 2. You will need a D-U-N-S # (Dunn & Bradstreet) from your county Finance or Purchasing Dept will have one. Need it get an Apple Customer Number http://www.apple.com/ business/ or 1-800-854-3680 2. Set up a program administrator is responsible for purchasing and distributing content for your organization (could be your PUE Deputy). A specific Apple ID will be created for this administrator (must be a county email address that has never been used for obtaining an Apple ID and it can’t be used later on any devices). 3. To purchase through the program in three simple steps. First, log in to the VPP store http://vpp.itunes.apple.com/us/store and search for content. Second, enter the quantity you want to buy. And third, complete the transaction with a corporate credit card or VPP Credit. 4. Streamline company-wide distribution by assigning apps directly to devices using an MDM solution (AirWatchExpress) or distribute content to individual employees by providing them with redeemable codes for each app or book. Content can be assigned to devices or users. Purchase an MDM Solution: AirWatch Express Yearly subscription that costs $4.33/device/month with a one time deployment fee of $1675 (you’re paying for the web server access with this fee). When we purchased a year ago there was a 25 device minimum, that may be different now with AirWatch Express. If you have a AirWatch, you can download a token which can be used to link your MDM solution with your VPP Account. Once, linked you can invite users, assign apps and books, and revoke and reassign apps directly through your MDM solution. This token will expire after one year or after a password reset. If you are interested in AirWatch this is the California Representative: Alexsie Diaz [email protected] Mobility Specialist - SLED O | 470.247.8837 C | 470.261.288 Lynda Schrumpf Kings County Department of Agriculture [email protected] (559) 852-2830 iMessage & Email Mobile Device Management (MDM) For iOS Devices Tips for iPad use in the field: A stand to hold the iPad in the vehicle "iKross" cup mount holder car kit comes in 2 sizes 9.7 inch iPad Pro w cellular 128 MB, Apple Smart Keyboard, Apple Silicone Case Recommend a 3 GB data plan with a cell provider, without a data plan it really limits the usefulness of the iPads for other programs, it's just such a time safer to have internet access in the field. The student studies randomness with emphasis on understanding variation, collects information in the face of uncertainty, checks distributional assumptions, tests hypotheses, uses probability as a tool for anticipating what the distribution of data may look like under a set of assumptions, and uses appropriate statistical models to draw conclusions from data. The course introduces the student to applications in engineering, business, economics, medicine, education, the sciences, and other related fields. The use of technology (computers or graphing calculators) will be required in certain applications. Student Learning Outcome Statements (SLO) • Student Learning Outcome: Organize, analyze, and utilize appropriate methods to draw conclusions based on sample data by constructing and/or evaluating tables, graphs, and numerical measures of characteristics of data. • Student Learning Outcome: Identify, evaluate, interpret and describe data distributions through the study of sampling distributions and probability theory. • Student Learning Outcome: Collect data, interpret, compose and defend conjectures, and communicate the results of random data using statistical analyses such as interval and point estimates, hypothesis tests, and regression analysis. • Online Content Calculator User Guide
Online Content Calculator User Guide Introduction How much time do you spend lecturing in your online class? That question can be a difficult one to answer. Since many online courses are asynchronous, students may speed up a one-hour lecture (I wouldn’t recommend lecture for one hour under any circumstances but more about that below) and watch it in 30 minutes. Or the lecture may be difficult and students may need two hours to understand it. So how do you measure the actual contact time? That is not a rhetorical question. Instructors of online courses are required to report their contact hours, which must meet the standards set forth by the Carnegie Foundation. In fact the credit units that we are all familiar with, i.e. 3-credit courses, is based on what is referred to as the Carnegie Unit. For a 15 week, 3-credit course, the requirement is for 45 contact—that is classroom—hours and a total of 90 hours of homework or lab work in the course. A Carnegie unit defines a semester unit of credit as equal to a minimum of three hours of work per week for a semester. A 16-week course equates to three hours of student work per week (1 hour lecture plus 2 hours of homework or 3 hours of lab) for 16 weeks. Although this unit of measure is well established having been developed by the Carnegie Foundation in 1907, it has come under increasing fire with the recent push toward competency-based education. But I’m not going to tackle that issue here.
