BY SCOTT PAGE Gulf Breeze News [email protected] The Pensacola Beach Yacht Club hosted about a dozen stu- dents at its Junior Sailing Camp, held Aug. 1-5 behind Key Sailing at Pensacola Beach. PBYC volunteers taught the young mariners everything they need to know about sailing, including rigging, steering and even how to recover a capsized vessel. More importantly, it gave the campers an exciting reason to get off the couch and learn a skill that can provide a lifetime of enjoyment. All of the sailing instructors are certified by the U.S. Sailing Association and trained in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR, providing campers instruction second to none. The camp stressed hands-on learning, allowing the students to spend a lot the time out on the water, sailing.

Photos by Scott Page/Gulf Breeze News The Pensacola Beach Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing Camp, Aug. 1-5, offered campers a weeklong opportunity to get out in the sun and on the water to learn the basic skills necessary to become a proficient sailor.
