April 11, 2010 5:30 PM USU-311 ASI Boardroom Founding of the Colony / Alpha Class Pledge Ceremony

Field Secretary Nate Carney, Pledge Educator Aemon Fowler, and Undergraduate Archon Councilor Michael P. “Bear” Kennedy led a group of eight young men into the ASI Boardroom and conducted the pledge ceremony for the Alpha class.

April 11, 2010 6 PM USU-311 ASI Boardroom Officer Elections and Retreat

The cabinet members are elected: Eric B. Sor-Lim for president, Jameson W. Nyeholt for treasurer, Nicholas J. Santos for recording secretary, Timothy Mraz for corresponding secretary, and Kaveh Lavasany for pledge class historian. Joshua R. Mas and Kshamaa S. Berg are elected to become co-recruitment chairmen, and Daniel J. Costa becomes the Social chairman. This was a careful and significant moment in our history, because choosing these elected officials of the colony meant choosing truly qualified people we want to point us in the direction that we want the colony to proceed in. The retreat was a significant insightful experience in which the guidelines for what Fiji stands for and what we should expect was put in place.

April 15, 2010 7 PM Walter Pyramid Greek Sing

This was the first Greek event attended by the Lambda Beta Colony members. Every year, all of the IFC fraternities and Pan-hellenic sororities of CSULB have a singing and dancing performance event to raise money for a good cause.

April 19, 2010 9 PM USU-311 ASI Boardroom Meeting #1

The first meeting ran long, however a lot of ideas and discussion were involved; from recruitment, to the funds we will have, website development, t-shirt development. A dues system for the fall and spring was voted on and established.

April 26, 2010 9 PM USU-204 Meeting #2 / Alpha Class Pledge Ceremony

The members of the Alpha Class who were already pledged conducted the pledge ceremony for Stephen Beauchamp and Kaveh Lavasany. This productive meeting involving brainstorming ideas for recruiting and resulted in us backing support behind a “diamond and star” campaign that would tie in with the t-shirts that we would all have to represent us on campus. Daniel gave a presentation on “risk management. Monthly dues were paid by every member. Aemon (pledge educator) also initiated pledge education and provided us with quizzes on chapter 1 of the Purple Pilgrim.

Six Fiji brothers and Pledge Educator Aemon attended the Orange County Pig Dinner that the chapters from Chapman and UCI were also attending. This event was the first time we had face to face interaction with other Fiji undergraduate brothers, and it was humbling to see the excitement and proud demeanor the brothers (undergraduate and graduate) held for being Fiji's. The event was beneficial for us as a colony, as we were able to network with the Chapman and UCI brothers

We started with about 40 pounds of cookie dough and spent about 6 hours baking cookies and hanging out at Dan's house.

During Finals week, when students are usually in rough seas with studying, we went to the library three different times and handed out a large quantity of cookies that we baked the Saturday before. We feel that this is a unique tradition that we will continue to do every semester during Finals week.

May 26, 2010 California Pizza Kitchen Joshua’s Journey philanthropy fundraiser

The colony's first ever fundraiser was held at CPK to benefit the Joshua's Journey of Hope foundation. The foundation was set up by a FIJI Graduate Brother David J. Clarke of the original Lambda Beta Chapter at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) to support research into the rare disease Cystinosis, which effects his son Joshua. The event raised nearly $450, all of which will be donated to Joshua’s Journey of Hope.

The meeting brought up a lengthy discussion on everyone's roles within the fraternity and the progress happening on a week-by-week basis. Planning and budgeting of Ekklesia was also discussed.

August 9, 2010 USU-311 ASI Boardroom Meeting #1

This was the last meeting before the first day of the fall 2010 semester so much discussion went into planning for the fall 2010 semester. The group who went to Ekklesia also discussed what they learned on issues such as recruitment, finances, and chartering. It was also announced that Stephen was appointed to be our philanthropy chairman. There was also discussion about what committees we should establish.

Many of the founding fathers were able to make it to Tim's house where they were able to create the letters from sheets of wood. It was beneficial to have Tim as our project coordinator since he had expertise with woodwork and design. In the evening, most the founding fathers that were already initiated were able to conduct a initiation ceremony for the last two members of the Alpha class.

Building the letters and painting them required a second and final day for many of the founding father's to meet at Tim's house to do this. Once the 8-foot letters were finished all of the founding father's certainty felt that they had built something that will be able to adequately represent the image of FIJI.

A few of the founding father's were excited that the Rec center was about to open to the public for the very first time, so we made it out to take a look at and try out the Rec center. Although the rec center was still missing some equipment, we felt we were part of history for being some of the first people to use this state-of-the-art facilities.

August 28, 2010 Long Beach State dorms Dorm Move-in

Many of the founding fathers helped the incoming students living at the dorms move-in. After a few hours when most people were moved in, we decided to play some cornhole, a game we learned from Aemon that he says the Long Beach State chapter in the 90's used to play all the time.

August 30, 2010 USU-311 ASI Boardroom Meeting #2

The first meeting of the semester was productive, with a lot of different items being discussed. Planning for rush week and recruitment in general took a lot of discussion, and at the end we voted on the events we would have during rush week. The operating budget and dues system was also discussed and we came to a conclusion on how much of our budget goes to saving for chartering. We also discussed and laid out some standards for scholarship this semester.

September 1 – 4, 2010 Long Beach, California Field Secretary Brett Pytel visit

We welcomed Brett Pytel into Long Beach and let him stay at an extra room we had in the unofficial Fiji house. During his time here, he had meetings with each on of the founding fathers and lots of knowledge was passed down to the colony on what things we could be doing different and better. We also had a colony meeting and an informative TIPS training session led by Brett. His evaluation that we received within a week after his visit provided much constructive criticism and advise that we needed to move forward.

September 1 and 2, 2010 11 AM – 2 PM Quad area in front of university bookstore Greek Fair

We set up a table with our 8 foot Letters also displayed at a designated time and place where the whole Greek system came out to recruit and showcase itself. The founding fathers who were able to station the table left themselves to talking to many students passing by and got many potential recruit contact information.

September 6, 2010 Unofficial Fiji house Meeting #3

This was the first meeting ever at the unofficial Fiji house. Much discussion and planning went into the upcoming recruitment week. Josh and Kshamaa presented us with a few recruitment role-play scenarios along with some tips for the recruitment concept in general. Tim announced that he had acquired a design for our thank-you cards and was going to start sending out some of the first ones.

September 8 and 9, 2010 11 AM – 2 PM Quad area in front of university bookstore Week of Welcome

The setting was very similar to the Greek Fair, however it was in a different part of campus and involved participation of all organizations on campus. We were able to add increase our list of potential recruits through these events.

Eric and Jameson attended this formal informational showcase of greek life on campus . They represented us in a presentation that gave a brief overview of the lambda beta colony of Fiji.

September 10, 2010 Quad area in front of university bookstore Smorgasport

Smorgasport is a free co-sponsored event that included interactive games, free pizza, music, student organization information tables, appearances by radio stations, giveaways and sports tournaments for CSULB students. A few of us had fun attending this event and hosting our own information table for FIJI.

September 11, 2010 Bolsa Chica Beach Bonfire

To celebrate the start of the semester the founding fathers hosted a bonfire event at Bolsa Chica. We also invited some friends to join us in mingling, cooking smores, and a nice warm fire.

September 13, 2010 Soroptimist House FIJI Luau Rush Mixer

This mixer kicked off the beginning of fall recruitment week on our campus. For this event we catered Hawaiian food to a mixer “meet and greet” environment. There was also many different group games being played.

September 14, 2010 Soroptimist House FIJI "Not for College Days Alone" Graduate Mixer

Our aim for this night was to boost our reputation for being a fraternity that has great graduate brothers from the previous long beach state colony who exemplify the slogan “Not for college Days Alone.” There were 5 graduate brothers from the long beach state chapter in the 90's who showed up for this mixer that included pizza and refreshments being catered.

September 15, 2010 USU bowling alley FIJI bowling night

The founding fathers and many other potential recruits enjoyed a night at the bowling alley. With pizza being catered, the event offered a much more personal experience for interested recruits to get to know us better.

September 17, 2010 Cha for Tea and unofficial FIJI house FIJI preference night

A more formal night for the founding fathers to congratulate their first bid given out with dinner at Cha for Tea, and then afterward also enjoy hanging out together at the FIJI house.

September 20, 2010 USU-311 ASI Boardroom Meeting #4

We had various discussions on recruitment, intramurals, and tshirt designs, among other things at this meeting. There was also deeper discussion on two more recruits that we were ready to vote on and hand out bids to.

September 24, 2010 2nd street, Long Beach and unofficial FIJI house Exchange with Sigma Kappa and Tau Kappa Epsilon

On this friday night, the founding fathers enjoyed a memorable night with Sigma Kappa and Tau Kappa Epsilon. On 2nd street everyone between the three organizations participated in a treasure hunt where different teams competed to be the first team to find and take a picture of different items and things. Among the things on the list, was finding someone with a piercing, a police car, a pinkberry spoon, and an interesting item from the sex shop. Afterwards, Sigma Kappa and Tau Kappa Epsilon were invited to the FIJI house for some more mingling and fun.

September 27, 2010 USU-311 ASI boardroom Meeting #5

We discussed future events and the concept that we can't go to all of them, therefore we must pick and choose the ones we want to attend. We also felt like we need to improve on our standards and coordination with any parties we have, so we had a lengthy discussion on that. Jameson gave us an update on our expenses and budget. Nick reviewed the protocol for having agenda item's submitted to him by the Friday before the meeting and also how are meeting agendas will be implemented. At the end of the meeting we fulfilled our commitment to finish the TIPS program by taking the TIPS test.

October 4, 20101 Unofficial Fiji house Meeting #6

This was a formal meeting which created a setting different from any other meeting, yet we were still able to be productive. On top of the many announcements Eric had, he discussed with us the well-being of the Greek community on campus at the time. Among one of the issues with the Greek community was that some other organizations had gotten out of hand with events and parties within the past couple of weeks, so IFC was going to start being stricter with everyone in the Greek community. Kaveh introduced the outline and plan for the pledge education for the future Beta class. There was also more discussion on recruitment and what the status of some of the potential recruits was standing at.

The IFC put together an orientation event for the students new to Greek life. All of the founding fathers attended this overall successful event in which we were able to listen to a guest speaker who had a overview speech on Greek life in general with a few first-hand experience stories mixed in. There was also many ice-breaker games and activities that we took part in with many other new members of sororities and fraternities.

October 11, 2010 USU-311 ASI boardroom Meeting #7

This meeting focused on a lot on execution of what we have planned for the rest of the semester. This was partly a result of us getting announcements from three different sororities informing us about their philanthropy events that they want us to come to. There was also an announcement from Alpha Omicron Pi about their can food food drive that we would participate in. After discussion, we knew we had to stay within our budget, so we voted on attending two of the sororities events this semester. The one's we decided on were, “Sigma Kapture the Flag” and “Alpha Pi Ball”. Another item of business resolved was ordering a new batch of t-shirts after reviewing and discussing our options. Eric also developed a recruitment incentive in which a brother would be presented with a “finder's fee” for recruiting and bringing in a new member. After the meeting, we watched an alcohol awareness video that HQ provided us with called, “Tell me something I don't know”

October 13, 2010 Psychology building, CSULB campus Roundtable discussions

Eric, Stephen, Tim, Dan, and Kshamaa took part in roundtable discussions that joined the whole Greek life to focus on discussions involving their positions. The experience was beneficial for us as a new colony because we get to hear the ideas and opinions of our intrafraternal brothers and sisters who hold the same respective officer positions as us.

Many of the Fiji founding fathers attended this spaghetti dinner in which AO Pi raised money towards philanthropy.

October 16, 2010 Belmont pier, Long Beach Beach Cleanup

Many of the founding fathers and a to-be-pledge came out on this sat morning to clean the beaches surrounding the Belmont pier in effort to keep Long Beach Beaches free from trash and pollution. Philanthropy chairmen Stephen arranged this, and we all agreed that we would continue to more beach cleanups in the future.

October 18, 2010 Wilson High School 2010 Greek Awards

This was a excellent put together awards ceremony in the auditorium of Wilson HS in which the best of fraternities and sororities in many different areas were honored. Standout individuals were also honored. The Lambda Beta Colony of Phi Gamma Delta received the Academic Achievement Award for having the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) of all Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) and Cultural Greek Council (CGC) fraternities. Joined by FIJI in the receipt of this award was Delta Zeta, who received the same award for the highest GPA amongst Pan-Hellenic Council (PHC) and CGC sororities. At the awards ceremony, founding father member Michael Ohde was recognized for receiving a 4.0 GPA during the Spring 2010 semester. President Eric Sor-Lim also recognized the entire Alpha Class in lieu of giving his President’s Award to one individual, for their relentless efforts in the hard work of creating a fraternity colony.

October 19, 2010 Soroptomist house Delta Zeta Mocktail contest

The fraternities and sororities involved in the IFC on our campus got together for a spirited contest that involved creating non-alcohol mixed drinks. Although, the recipe created by our Fiji representatives (Stephen, Tim, Dan) wasn't award winning, they enjoyed being there at an event which involved good interactions between the rest of the Greek community.

The first game of the intramural IFC volleyball season was exciting to the very end, however FIJI came out on the loser end.

October 23, 2010 Unofficial Fiji house Breakfast with Sigma Kappa's (event canceled due to rain)

The Sigma Kappa capture the flag tournament was scheduled for this day, however due to rain it had to be canceled. Three Sigma Kappa ladies still make their way over to the house to make and have chorizo burritos breakfast with us.

October 22, 2010 – October 24, 2010 Long Beach, California Director of Chapter Development Josh Laufenberg visit

We welcomed Josh Laufenberg into Long Beach and let him stay at an extra room we had in the unofficial Fiji house. October 25, 2010 Unofficial Fiji House Meeting #8 / Beta class pledge ceremony

During the meeting, there was much discussion of future events and the bringing in of the Beta Class. Jameson gave us an update on finances and past dues that are existing. Kaveh gave an update on the procedure for the beginning of pledge education. Nick reviewed some Robert's rules basics that we should always be aware of. It is also agreed on among all of us that we will have cabinet elections on November 1st after the meeting. Once the meeting was done, the founding fathers conducted the pledge ceremony for Andrew Cooper and David Moody at 9 PM. From here on out the previous founding fathers who are already initiated will be acknowledged as the Alpha class. The founding fathers who are being pledged into Phi Gamma Delta during the fall 2010 semester are known as the Beta class.

October 29, 2010 Fiji house /Walter Pyramid Beta class pledge ceremony / Chic-fil-a Greek Showdown: Womens volleyball Long Beach State vs. Cal Poly Pomona

The founding fathers conducted the pledge ceremony at 5PM for Jason Neas, the last member of the Beta class. Afterward, many of us went out to support the Greek community and the Womens volleyball team at the Walter Pyramid. Although Long Beach State came up short this game, we still enjoyed hanging out and interacting with other brothers and sister within our Greek community.

November 1, 2010 Unofficial Fiji house Meeting #9 / Cabinet elections

The founding fathers holds a productive formal meeting. Eric introduces the SOE (standards of excellence) packet to us and explains the procedure. Tim talks about the different ways we can continue to keep good public relations with everyone. Kaveh reviews how pledge education is progressing. Kshamaa emphasizes the need for us to bring in potential recruit names. The formal meeting is then taken out of Robert rules and formal meeting settings, so we can hold elections for the cabinet positions for the next year. Through nominations, Eric and Jameson become the candidates for President. After tallying the votes, Jameson is chosen as the President. All treasurer nominations were declined, therefore the election of the treasurer was postponed. Through nominations, Stephen and Josh become the candidates for Recording Secretary. After tallying the votes, Josh is chosen as the Recording Secretary. Through nominations, Tim and Nick become the candidates for Corresponding Secretary. After tallying the votes, Tim is chosen as the Corresponding Secretary. Through nominations, Kaveh and Kshamaa become the candidates for Historian. After tallying the votes, Kshamaa is chosen as the Historian. These elections were a crucial part of our history as we had elected our leaders who will carry us on to the next development period for our colony.

November 4, 2010 Unofficial Fiji house Pledge education meeting #2

Kaveh, Stephen, Kshamaa, Jameson, and PL (Purple legionnaire) Aemon administered the meeting. Jameson also gave them a workshop on Robert Rule's. We also administered Pledge education meeting #1 for Jason. We provided each pledge with a quiz on Chapter 1 from the Purple Pilgrim.

November 6, 2010 El Dorado park / Gold Mine gym Alpha Phi Ball / Volleyball game: Fiji vs. Theta Chi (postponed)

On this Saturday morning, the Alpha and Beta class made its way over to El Dorado park for an Alpha Phi philanthropy kickball tournament against many of the other fraternities in IFC. Alpha Phi was raising money towards the cause of Alzheimer treatment . We ended up winning one game and losing two this tournament and really just ended up having lots of fun.The one game we won was a defining moment for us because with optimal strategy and spirit we beat out a tough opponent. In the evening, the Fiji volleyball team arrived at the Gold Mine gym to play the second game of the season, however the game had to be postponed due to issues with building management.

November 8, 2010 USU-311 ASI boardroom Meeting #10

During this meeting Jameson introduced to us the idea of a points system in which there would be incentives for attendance, and many of the other criteria involved with SOE. Tim also reminded us about maintaining good etiquette wherever you go. Kaveh gave an update on pledge education. Eric informed us of a set date for the CPK fundraiser. Stephen informed us of a set date for the second beach cleanup. We also discussed and planned out what we are going to do for tailgating on Saturday during homecoming. We also decide to initiate three big-little brother relationships between the Alpha class and Beta class.

Many of the Founding fathers and pledges came out to tailgate in the parking lot in front of the Walter Pyramid. We shared a tailgating area with Sigma Kappa and our Jefferson duo brothers Pi Kappa Psi. After the tailgating many of the founding fathers went into the Pyramid to enjoy the Long Beach State vs State Men's basketball game.

November 15, 2010 USU-311 ASI boardroom Meeting #11 The founding fathers held crucial discussions in the area of bid votes, recruitment, and brainstorming ideas for our signature philanthropy event. We also discussed preparing for for Academy and what travel options there are for the people going. We voted on setting the dues amount for the pledges. Kshamaa gave an update on the prospective recruitment list. Kaveh gave an update on pledge education and the planning of concluding their education by the end of the semester. The brotherhood pairings are announced. Stephen is the big brother of David. Jameson is the big brother of Andrew. Kshamaa is the big brother of Jason.

November 18, 2010 California Pizza Kitchen / Unofficial Fiji house Academy fundraiser / Pledge Education meeting #4

We held a fundraiser at CPK for fundraising money towards the Academy leadership conference in St. Louis. The turnout from friends, family, and other people of the Greek community was great. After having dinner at CPK, the pledges, Kaveh, Stephen, and Tim went back to the Unofficial Fiji house to have the Pledge Ed meeting. Tim gave a speech and demonstration on standards of etiquette that we should all have when we are in public. We provided each pledge with a quiz on Chapter 4 and 5 from the Purple Pilgrim.

November 22, 2010 USU-311 ASI boardroom Meeting #12

This was the last meeting of the fall semester. Jameson gave us an update of the latest expenses and gave us some idea of where our budget would be at at the end of the semester. Kaveh gave an update on pledge education and also brought up the idea of creating serenades for the future pledge classes to use in visiting sororities. We brainstormed ideas for socials that we can have next semester. The founding fathers also nominated and voted for our purple princess, and after tallying the results, Erin Morris became our purple princess. We also voted on continuing the tradition of passing out cookies in the library during finals week.

December 3, 2010 Unofficial Fiji house Pledge education meeting #5

Kaveh, Stephen, Dan, and Kshamaa administered this pledge meeting. Dan gave the pledges a seminar about risk management. Kshamaa gave them a rundown of dynamic recruitment. We provided each pledge with a quiz on Chapter 6 and 7 from the Purple Pilgrim.

December 4, 2010 Belmont Pier Beach cleanup

The founding fathers came out on this sat morning to clean the beaches surrounding the Belmont pier in effort to keep Long Beach Beaches free from trash and pollution.

December 12, 2010 Unofficial Fiji house / Library Preparing and baking cookies / Passing out the cookies in the library

We started with about 20 pounds of cookie dough and spent a few hours baking cookies and hanging out at the Fiji house. We were happy to continue our unique tradition that we will continue to do every semester during Finals week in which we give out free cookies to the students studying in the library. After baking the cookies, we went to the library and handed out cookies and set up a tray of cookies on a table in which some of the founding fathers gathered at to study.

December 17, 2010 Unofficial Fiji house Pledge education meeting #6

This was the last pledge education meeting and Kaveh, Stephen, and Kshamaa administered it. We reviewed a lot of the important information that they learned during pledge education. We also discussed how they felt about the process and interactions within the fraternity during their time as a pledge. We provided each pledge with a quiz on Chapter 8 from the Purple Pilgrim.

January 6 – 10, 2011 St Louis, Missouri 36th Fiji Academy

Nick S., Kshamaa, Jameson, David, and Stephen travelled to St. Louis to attend the first FIJI Academy CSULB is invited to. Travelling by car, the 5 FIJIs took a 36 hour road trip and met countless FIJIs from Canada to USC colonies and chapters. The guys took a lot from the trip and shared that information with the colony when they returned.

January 31, 2011 Unofficial FIJI house Gamma Game

The meeting was the first time the colony established the Gamma Game, started by the newly elected president, Jameson. The game included all colony brothers having a figurine of a Gamma on their person at all times. In addition, the colony plans its first Family Day BBQ for parents of the brothers.

February 26, 2011 Greek Spirit Competition – Basketball Game

FIJI participated in CSULB’s first home game of the year which was a spirit competition among Greek members. Almost all of the brothers came out to support the team and represent the 49er’s basketball tradition. In addition, it allowed the brothers to invite potential members out to the game to gain some school spirit and get to know the other brothers.

March 5, 2011 AOPi Strikeout

FIJI participates in AOPi’s Spring sport philanthropy, Strikeout. It was an indoor soccer event consisting of 16 teams with double elimination. Although FIJI lost its first game, won its second, and lost its final game, it won the award for Most Spirited. The trophy is sported at the unofficial FIJI house in the chapter room.

March 7, 2011 Int’l Badge Day

All FIJI brothers who attended school today wore dress attire and represented for their first International Badge Day. The day consisted of students sporting their badge from their respective societies, Greek organizations, or other organizations. FIJIs wore the Delta Colony Badge affixed to their dress shirts and coats and ties to exemplify our values.

March 9, 2011 AOPi Brinner AOPi House

The ladies of AOPi have invited FIJI colony brothers their annual Brinner event in which they serve breakfast for dinner. The event marks a great success as it showed our support for campus sororities due to FIJIs high attendance, and, based upon percentage, FIJI had the highest percent of brothers show up to the event.

March 19-20 Relay For Life CSULB

FIJIs participate in California State Long Beach’s annual Relay for Life. Ten brothers stayed from 2:00pm on Saturday to 2:00pm on Sunday in support of finding a cure to cancer and raising cancer awareness. The event was very touching, as it was a communal support of all who had been touched in some way by cancer and it also consisted of people who wanted to help and be involved in finding how to help support those with cancer.

March 27-29 FIJI Joshua Tree Retreat

All members, and some prospective members, of the colony attended the FIJI Spring retreat. The retreat was a camping trip to the city of Joshua Tree and it consisted of two overnight stays. The retreat was beneficial in that it was a time of organizing the upcoming semester and it was also a time to bond with our new Beta Class brothers as well as get to know some potential new members, Kyle and Tim Driscoll. The retreat was very fun as brothers swapped stories around a large campfire and huddled together in a 12-man tent for two nights.

April 25, 2011 Composite Photos Unofficial FIJI house

Members of the CSULB FIJI colony gathered at the Obispo house to take their first composite photo. All members wore red ties and black coats with a white undershirt. In attendance, also, was Brett Pytel, our colony’s Field Secretary. The composite is expected to arrive during the fall semester.

April 27, 2011 Diversity Event with Delta Zeta Soroptomist House

Today, brothers of the FIJI colony helped Delta Zeta of Long Beach put together and run an event with a guest speaker. The event lasted an hour and a half and included a guest speaker, speaking about the importance of tolerance and diversity among students on campus. It was an eye-opening experience and allowed the brothers to connect with the local sorority chapter on campus whom we have not had much contact with.

April 30, 2011 FIJI OC Pig Dinner

The FIJI LB colony, Chapman, UC Irvine and UC Riverside chapters all put the OC Pig Dinner event to celebrate our Founders’ Day. The event was the first graduate event we were able co- host and the first Pig Dinner we had the privilege to host. Graduate brothers came from all over the country and brothers from the old CSULB FIJI chapter, giving current members a chance to meet and talk about the old chapter and how our current chapter is progressing. The new and older colony brothers thoroughly enjoyed the experience because we had our own pig to offer to the brothers. We felt as though we were truly chapter brothers of the fraternity even though we are still colony brothers. We established and maintained contact with the graduate brothers and we believe this will help us all later on down the road.

May 7, 2011 Delta Gamma Anchor Splash CSULB

Members of CSULB’s FIJI colony were invited by the lovely ladies of Delta Gamma to participate in the annual Anchor Splash. The event consisted of water relay races and a synchronized swim section. The event was in support of their national philanthropy and although FIJI planned out the synchronized swim section for a couple weeks, won second overall. The event was a great way to help support our local sorority and a great cause.

August 27, 2011 FIJI Dorm Move-In CSULB Dormitories

Today, FIJIs helped incoming freshmen and returning students of California State University Long Beach move into their dorm rooms. In doing so, we were able to meet new students interested in joining organizations that give back to the community and to the school. The dorm move-in was very fun and gave brothers a chance to get to know the other Greeks more as well as establishing connections and making friends with other potential members for the colony at Long Beach.

September 18, 2011 Delta Class Pledging Albury Unofficial FIJI House

Today marks the first day of the Delta class pledging process. Total, there are 17 pledges. This is by far the highest amount of pledges for the Long Beach FIJI colony and truly demonstrates our commitment to surviving on campus and growing stronger by doing so. It is also going to be a true test to how we can delegate and communicate amongst a class as large as our current colony. The brothers are extremely excited, though, and cannot wait to educate these fine young men on what it means to be a FIJI gentleman.

September 22, 2011 Alcohol and Drugs Educational Workshop with Lambda Sigma Gamma CSULB Boardroom

Today, FIJIs, FIJI pledges of Delta Class, and ladies of Lambda Sigma Gamma chapter at CSULB were educated on alcohol and drug awareness as well as sexual awareness. Co-hosting this event, FIJIs were able to understand the importance of moderation with alcohol and how drinking can be a very very dangerous activity. This is extremely important because it involves eliminating the stereotype of fraternities “partying too hard” and potentially using alcohol in excess to the extent that it could kill someone. The proper precautions and basic know how of drinking helps all understand the dangers and when enough is enough.

October 4, 2011 Delta Gamma Luau The Delta Gamma House

FIJIs enjoyed the hosting of the ladies of Delta Gamma as they put on their food philanthropy, Delta Gamma Luau. Being Hawaiian themed, the event helped raise money for their national sorority philanthropy organization and allowed our current members and delta class pledge members acquaint themselves with our school’s sorority chapter.

October 21, 2011 Anchor Freeze Ice Rink

The Delta Gamma Anchor Freeze is much like the winter version of Anchor Splash. This event took place on the ice where there were relay races among other fraternities and a synchronized skating session. Although FIJIs worked hard on the event and practiced, they were awarded third place but also helped support Delta Gamma’s philanthropic efforts.

October 24, 2011 Greek Awards Wilson High School

Today, FIJI was in attendance with its fellow Greek community, for the CSULB Greek Awards for 2010-2011. FIJI was awarded 5 awards total, all based upon the Standards of Excellence placed upon by the school and our Greek Advisor, Caitlin Roberts. The plaques/awards were a symbol of the leaps and bounds the CSULB FIJI colony has made since its beginning in 2010 of April. The awards included: Greeks Going Green, Academic Achievement Award, Best New Membership Program, Outstanding Alumni Relations Award, and Overall Chapter management award. This marks the second year in a row that CSULB FIJI has been awarded the Academic Achievement Award due to having the highest overall GPA among fraternities at the school. We are definitely looking forward to next year to achieving more than we did last year!

November 8, 2011 FIJI Taco Tuesday Philanthropy Albury Unofficial FIJI House

Today marks CSULB FIJI’s first hosted food philanthropy in which we invited the Long Beach community to join FIJI to enjoy tacos and learn about our local philanthropy. The event was a thorough success in that we had many people attend and enjoy tacos and also become aware of Joshua’s Journey of Hope (a foundation based on finding the cure to Cystinosis).

November 19, 2011 Food Bank with AOPi and Sigma Chi

FIJI, AOPi, and Sigma Chi (the newest fraternity on campus) have teamed up to help in providing food to starving families throughout the city, state, and country. For 5 hours, these three organizations endlessly packaged donated food to distribute to families that are starving and in doing so, left with a great appreciation for service and friendship.

November 19, 2011 Delta Zeta Turtle Bowl CSULB

Today, FIJI, along with other fraternity organizations throughout California, participated in Flag Football hosted by the Delta Zeta Long Beach chapter to help their national philanthropy organization. The event was an all-day experience and only included two games for FIJI, but the brothers left the field with a feeling of brotherhood and teamwork.

Today is the day we bring in 13 of our newest brothers into the colony. The members are as follows: Rogelio Gutierrez, Tom Idzinski, Harvey Higger, Hugh Carter, Kyle Kakalia, Aaron Renell, Naoto Hall, Michael Johnson, Homar Ballasteros, Nick Ewens, Kevin Tham, Adrian Silva, and Nick Vuono. Today marks the day that FIJIs of CSULB elect its new cabinet members of 2012. January 13, 2012 Brotherhood Retreat Brother Tim Mraz’s Vacation Home in Lake Havasu

Brother Tim Mraz graciously opened his home to the rest of the brothers for the weekend for this Winter retreat. Saturday morning, all the cabinet members and their chairmen had individual meetings to discuss plans for the next semester and following right after a Colony meeting took place run by Presdient Kshamaa Berg. This meeting laid out the groundwork for Spring 2012 while at the same time strengthening the brotherhood bond within the Colony.

January 22, 2012 Chapter Meeting #1 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

During this meeting President Kshamaa Berg spoke of the Organizational Structure for the rest of the year, and about the ordering of Colony pins. Treasurer Andrew Cooper spoke of dues and the Warrior Dash fundraiser coming on March 31, 2012. Recording Secretary Nick Vuono talked about the AAA scholarship, Judicial board meetings, and Agendas. Corresponding Secretary Hugh Carter talked about newsletters, and emergency contact forms. Finally Historian Harvey Higger’s report consisted of talking about a date for Dev Engineer’s initiation and Post Initiation Exams.

January 29, 2012 Chapter Meeting #2 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

During this meeting led by President Kshamaa Berg, the Colony first voted on two IFC sports that we wish to participate in. The Colony chose to participate in basketball and volleyball. There was also a recruitment session run by Recruitment Chairman Brother Daniel Costa. Under Old Business, monthly dues were increased from $100 to $125. For new business there was a motion to amend an unexcused absence and tardy policy. The excused absence and tardy policy was postponed to vote by the Colony. There was also a motion to approve the 25th of February for a Grad/Family Picnic, this motion was approved by the colony.

February 5, 2012 Chapter Meeting #3 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

At this meeting President Kshamaa Berg went through the president’s announcements updating the Colony on upcoming events. We voted to participate in both Sigma Kappa’s Sigma Slam Philantrophy and Alpha Phi’s Mr. Heartthrob Philantrophy.

President Kshamaa Berg announced that Brother Nick Ewens will represent the Chapter in Alpha Phi’s Mr. Heartthrob. Recruitment Chairman Daniel Costa did a recruitment overview. As of today 10 people have accepted their bids. The Colony did not reach quorum so we could not vote.

February 16, 2012 California Pizza Kitchen Lakewood, CA

The Colony held a CPK Fundraiser where 20% of each bill of people we brought would be donated to the Colony. We ended up raising $151.20 for the Colony.

A total of 10 quality gentlemen were pledged into the Colony. Our Chapter Meeting followed immediately afterwards.

President Kshamaa Berg’s announcements consisted of regular updates for the Colony including IFC sports and Greek Spirit Week. Purple Legionnaire Aemon Fowler was present and discussed the possibility of moving Pig Dinner back a week so Chapman brothers could attend as well. February 23, 2012 Alpha Phi’s Mr. Heartthrob Philantrophy Wilson High School

Brother Nick Ewen’s respresented FIJI well. Though he did not win, we were still able to have a good time and help Alpha Phi towards their Philantrophic cause.

February 25, 2012 Grad/Family BBQ Whaley Park

This marks the first ever graduate and family picnic we have organized. This event was particularly successful in that we were able to have both graduate brothers and family present. This event left a good impression on the parents present as they were able to see the quality what quality gentlemen their sons have been associated with.

February 26, 2012 Chapter Meeting #6 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

The meeting began the president’s announcements. President Kshamaa Berg announced that our delegate for Greek Week is Brother Andrew Cooper. President Kshamaa Berg also announced some general updates for the Colony including Order of Omega sign ups, and IFC Sports. The Colony passed a motion to define a Good-standing member for the Colony and to change qualifications for active member voting rights. We also voted to push voting on a points system to the next meeting.

President Kshamaa Berg first made his weekly president announcement consisting of a reminder of Pi Kappa Phi’s Push Olympics Philantrophy and our preparation for our first FIJI Auction. In old business, the point system was pushed to a third reading next week. For new business we passed a motion to go camping for summer retreat.

For old business a third reading of the point system was presented by Brother Jameson Nyeholt. The chapter approved the system without a point system. We also voted in participating in the L.A. Food Bank, and a Social Philantrophy with the AMA on campus.

Pledges had a guest speaker, Neil King, from Florida and then filled out Big Bro Forms and did a workout.

This marks the first time we have ever held a FIJI Date Auction. We auctioned off our brothers that were willing, to do a task or go on a date with or for whomever bought them. This event was very successful and helped us raise $1,000 towards our possible chartering.

March 17, 2012 L.A. Food Bank Los Angeles, CA

The chapter participated in the L.A. Food bank for Philantrophy. We participated in this event with the sorority Alpha Omicron Pi as well.

President Kshamaa Berg had his usual weekly president’s announcements. There was no old business conducted. In new business the Colony approved for us to hold an Ice Cream Sandwich fundraiser and passed a motion to include the pledges in our composite photo.

This was our second CPK fundraiser of the Semester. This fundraiser was not as successful as we only raised $80 for the chapter.

This marks the first time ever we participate in volunteering for the SoCal Warrior Dash. This event was very successful. We ended up raising $1,000 toward our possible chartering.

This marks the day that FIJI participated in Greek Sing with the ladies of Alpha Omicron Pi and the gentlemen of Pi Kappa Phi and won first place. The brothers that participated put in a ton of hard work and it paid off in the end.

April 6, 2012 Red Ball Khory’s

This marks the first time FIJI has ever hosted this event. We helped raise over $10,000 along with AMA for our National Philantrophy the American Red Cross.

This is the first time we ever held this particular food fundraiser. We charged people $5 at the door with letters and $4 without for an all you can eat Ice Cream Sandwich buffet. We raised over $300 with this event.

This marks the final actual education for the pledges. They took their final test and are now just prepping for their pledge reviews the following week.

This was a huge carnival and brothers supported Aemon’s goddaughter Piper by volunteering at the event. We helped raise over $20,000 in support for Piper and research for her particular cancer.

President Kshamaa Berg made general announcements including our winning of Greek Week and chairman positions for the following semester. There was no old business conducted. For new business the Colony approved for the brotherhood retreat to be held from June 1st-June 3rd. Today is the day we bring in 10 of our newest brothers into the colony. The members are as follows: Alexander Ho, Zacharias Macias, Zachary Wagoner, Bryant Ponce Hernandez, Jonathan Canela, Chheang Sun, Joseph Sidhom, Don Ornelas, Lyndon Low, and David Arrevalo. We are all very excited to call these new members our brothers. With the initiation of the previous class of 13 and this class of 10 we are now growing great rate with not only quantity, but also quality in our brothers.

Brothers volunteered at the YMCA in Lakewood to help raise awareness in children to live active lifestyles.

This pig dinner was very classy and successful. We celebrated our 184th anniversary with the UC Chapman and UC Irvine Brothers. Graduate brothers were very impressed at the way the Lambda Beta Colony brothers carried themselves at this Pig Dinner.

June 15-17, 2012 Summer Retreat Joshua Tree

This retreat was productive and only added to the strength of our already strong brotherhood. The chapter partook in events such as rock climbing, playing corn hole, and also had a chapter meeting. The meeting consisted of the chapter talking about what direction we want to go, mainly what type of image we want to hold as FIJI’s on campus. We also discussed our plans for the 164th Ekklesia at New Orleans.

August 2-5, 2012 164th Ekklesia New Orleans, Louisiana

This Ekklesia was particularly a very special one for the Lambda Beta Colony. It is where we petitioned for our charter. Typically Chapters and Colonies send 3 delegates, our Colony sent 13 brothers in hope of hearing the good news that we have been approved to become a Chapter. All 13 of our brothers present were summoned up in front of the entire Ekklesia. Here we received the long awaited news that we had been approved to once again become a Chapter. Our brothers reacted with an insurmountable amount of joy for our 2 years of hard work until this point has finally paid off.

In this meeting President Kshamaa Berg unfortunately announced that Michael Howe has discontinued his membership. There was no old business conducted. For new business our Colony voted to participate in the LA Food Bank this semester.

September 3-8, 2012 Rush Week CSULB

This rush week as a successful one as we worked on recruiting our Zeta class. The rush events ran very smoothly. The events included Billiards, Poker, and Beach volleyball.

September 9, 2012 Chapter Meeting #2 Albury Unofficial FIJI house

This chapter meeting was significant because of the fact that we were electing a new Corresponding secretary to take over mid-term. The chapter voted in Brother Kevin Tham as the new Corresponding secretary.

This marks the day that our Colony initiate it’s last pledges before becoming a chapter. 11 brothers were pledged into the fraternity.

Pledges were quizzed on Chapter 3 & 4 and learned Chapter 5 & 6 in their Pilgrims. All pledges then went on an exercise run with Brian Cruz and learned chartering songs.

This was a very special day in which 38 members plus our Zeta class pledges of the Lambda Beta Colony have been pledged in as a Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta.

October 13, 2012 Lambda Beta Chartering USU Huntington Room

This marked a historical day for the Lambda Beta Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta. 38 of our members were initiated as brothers of The Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta. After 2 and a half years of hard work, we finally have made it back and have becoming a chapter once again.

October 13, 2012 Lambda Beta Chartering Banquet Queen Mary

Our charter was finally unveiled at our chartering banquet at the Queen Mary. The unveiling of our Charter caused our Chapter to react with a noticeable amount of Joy. The founding fathers of the re-chartered Lambda Beta Chapter included David Arevalo, Homar Ballesteros, Stephen Beauchamp, Kshamaa Berg, Jonathan Canela, Hugh Carter, Andrew Cooper, Daniel Costa, Brian Cruz, Timothy Driscoll, Devang Engineer, Nicholas Ewens, Rogelio Eleazar Gutierrez Jr., Naoto Hall, Harvey Higger, Alexander Ho, Thomas Idzinski, Michael Johnson, Kyle Kakalia, Kaveh Lavasany, Lyndon Low, Zacharias Macias, Joshua Mas, David Moody, Timothy Mraz, Jason Neas, Jameson Nyeholt, Michael Ohde, Donald Ornelas, Bryant Ponce Hernandez, Nicholas Santos, Adrian Silva, Eric Sor-Lim, Chheang Sun, Kevin Tham, Nicholas Vuono, Zachary Wagoner, and Joseph Sidhom. The event itself was a very classy one. Our chartering gift to headquarters was a model of the Queen Mary itself. The brothers celebrated together and the Zeta class pledges were able to recognize the amazing achievement of once again becoming a chapter of Phi Gamma Delta. This definitely was a day to remember.

The Chapter had it’s second FIJI auction featuring our Zeta pledge class. The chapter once again ended up raising well over $1000 dollars.

November 16, 2012 Let’s Make a Deal Fundraiser Hollywood

10 brothers attended a Let’s Make a Deal live taping. We were paid a total of $150 dollars in exchange for being members of the audience.

November 16, 2012 Red Ball Khory’s

This was the second time we have co-hosted the Red Ball event with AMA. This event was once again very successful. We helped raise over $10,000 for our national philantrophy The Red Cross.

November 18, 2012 Chapter Meeting #11 / Zeta Class Initiation Ceremony / Officer Elections / Officer Installment CBA 112

This marked our first Chapter formal meeting. This meeting was jam packed. First, we conducted our first initiation ceremony as a chapter. The initiation was conducted a little rough to say the least, however it was still made special for the Zeta class. 11 brothers were initiated into our chapter which included Brian Ruiz, Cody Steig, Edgar Ayala, Gideon Victor, Juan Carlos Cuevas, Michael Gennarelli, Nathan Loh, Ryan Jordan, Thomas Garcia, Jesus Orozco, and Nick Townsend.

This also marked the day that the Lambda Beta Chapter elect its new cabinet members of 2013. The following brothers have earned the following positions: Rogelio Gutierrez, Jr. – Historian, Zacharias Macias – Corresponding Secretary, Kyle Kakalia – Recording Secretary, David Arrevalo – Treasurer, and Nicholas Vuono– President. This is officially the first cabinet to serve a full year as the newly re-charted Lambda Beta Chapter.

December 12, 2012 Chapter Meeting #12 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

This was the final meeting of the semester and year. There was no old business conducted. For new business the chapter voted on having a camping retreat at falcon campground. This marked the last meeting that the cabinet of 2012 would be running.

December 14-16, 2012 Brotherhood Retreat Falcon Campground, Lake Elsinoire

This retreat was a very fun and productive one. We as a chapter decided on goals to work on after chartering. The goals we settled on was holding each other accountable, and earning over a 90% on our SOE packet. We created tighter brotherhood bonds through this retreat as we had to deal with cold and wet weather.

January 4-6, 2013 FIJI Academy St. Louis

The chapter sent three members to represent us at Academy. This members included Nick Vuono, Zach Macias, and Bryan Ruiz. The brothers had a long road trip over and back. They brought back with them valuable information that would help our chapter grow.

------Beginning of Spring 2013 Semester ------

January 28, 2013 Chapter Meeting #1 USU Huntington Room

This was the first meeting ran by the new Cabinet. There was a ton of information for the chapter in this meeting because of the transition of a new cabinet and it was the beginning of the semester. Field Secretary Taylor Herren was present as well. Major things covered in this meeting were recruitment as we were set to go into rush week the following week.

February 4-9, 2013 Rush Week CSULB

This rush week was particularly slow. The events were ran very smoothly which included, a BBQ/Poker Night, Taco Tuesday, Beach Volleyball, Dodge ball, and a Bid Day Potluck. Pref night was on Saturday at Hooters. This opened our eyes in that we need to work more on dynamic recruitment.

February 9, 2014 Formal Pledging Ceremony Albury Unofficial FIJI House

This pledging ceremony featured our Eta class which included 4 new members, one of which immediately discontinued his pledge ship the next day.

February 11, 2013 Chapter Meeting #2 USU Huntington Room

This meeting consisted of regular business and officer announcements. Each officer spoke of their meetings with Fields Secretary Taylor Herren. Taylor provided some good insight for the chapter to continue moving forward. For old business we voted to use our Colony Bylaws until the Chapter has voted on new Bylaws.

February 16, 2013 LA Food Bank Los Angeles

We had 13 of our brothers volunteer at the LA Food Bank. The experience was fun and rewarding knowing that we were helping others in need.

February 17, 2013 Pledge Education Meeting #1 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

At the very first pledge education meeting for the Eta class, pledge educator Nick Santos went over member responsibilities and Chapter 1 of the purple pilgrim. Historian Rogelio Gutierrez was present and taught the pledges how to sing the doxology. Brother Nick Santos wrapped everything up by going over the anti-hazing policy.

February 18, 2013 Chapter Meeting #3 USU Huntington Room

This general meeting consisted of officer’s announcements. There was no old business to be voted on. For new business the chapter voted to host a broom ball event with AMA as well as our first FIJI Islander with UC Irvine.

February 26, 2013 Pledge Education Meeting #2 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

Purple Legionnaire Aemon attended this meeting and spoke about Pig Dinner. Brother Kyle Kakalia was a guest speaker and he spoke to the pledges about scholarship. Pledge Educator Nick Santos spoke to the pledges about big brothers and little brothers. He also covered chapters 2 and 3 of the Purple Pilgrim.

This general meeting had our normal officer announcements. The historian Rogelio Gutierrez was not present. President Nick Vuono updated the chapter on various upcoming events for the month of March. The chapter voted to participate in Stroll n Roll and we also voted for our Purple Princesses.

March 2, 2013 Broomball East West Ice Palace, Artesia

This was the first time we held this event. We co-hosted the event with AMA. We ended up raising about $160 which was just icing on the cake. The event was very enjoyable not only for the brothers but for our guests as well.

March 4, 2013 Chapter Meeting #5 USU Huntington Room

During this meeting, the officers had their regular announcements as usual, most of what was said were just reminders. There was no old business for the chapter to vote on. In new business the Chapter voted on having a first ever “Bro”lympics.

March 11, 2013 Purple Princess Revealing/Chapter Dinner Alpha Omicron Pi House/In-and-Out Burger

Instead of having our normal business meeting we went over to the AOII house and revealed our Purple Princesses for 2013. For the first time ever we had two Purple Princesses and they were Kasie Dorr and Jordan Catuzzo. Following the revealing the chapter headed over to In-and-Out and had a nice break from normal meeting and enjoyed a chapter dinner.

March 12, 2013 Pledge Education Meeting #3 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

There were no guest speakers present during this meeting. Pledge educator Nick Santos covered chapter 4 in the Purple Pilgrim and the pledges took their weekly test.

March 18, 2013 Chapter Meeting #6 USU Huntington Room

This happened to be a very short meeting. The officers just went through their normal announcements. There was no old business or new business to vote on.

Pledge educator Nick Santos informed the pledges of their upcoming tasks. Brother Nick Santos also covered Chapters 5 in the Purple Pilgrim.

March 24, 2013 Grad and Family Barbeque Whaley Park

There was a great turnout for only our second ever Graduate and Family Barbeque. The parents and graduates that came out really enjoyed the festivities. Events included ultimate Frisbee and a pie eating contest.

March 26, 2013 Pledge Education Meeting #5 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

President Nick Vuono was present at this meeting and discussed the importance of membership with the pledges. Pledge Educator Nick Santos covered Chapter 6 in the Purple Pilgrim and gave the pledges their weekly tests as well.

March 25, 2013 Chapter Meeting #7 USU Huntington Room

This meeting was our shortest so far for the semester. Officers all had short announcements and there wasn’t any new business or old business to vote on.

April 6, 2013 Warrior Dash Fundraiser Lake Elsinoire, CA

For this fundraising event we got to volunteer to help raise money for St. Jude’s children hospital. We also were able to raise $750 for ourselves. There was a lot of hard work put in by a combination of 25 brothers and close friends and family.

April 8, 2013 Chapter Meeting #8 USU Huntington Room

Officers went through their reports as usual. There was no old business to discuss. In new business, brother Jonathan Canela spoke of the possibility of having Jim Reed as an academic adviser. The chapter voted in favor of having Jim as our adviser.

Aril 9, 2013 Pledge Education Meeting #6 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

Brother Bryant Ponce stopped by and informed the pledges of their roles in our upcoming ice cream fundraiser. Pledge Educator Nick Santos covered Chapter 7 in the Purple Pilgrim and the pledges took their weekly exams.

April 9, 2013 FIJI Ice Cream Fundraiser Albury Unofficial FIJI House

This was the second time we held this ice cream cookie fundraiser. This time around we donated the money to Ethiopia as a philantraphic cause. We raised about $200.

April 15, 2013 Chapter Meeting #9 USU Huntington Room

The officers went through their announcements. Some important announcements were the upcoming pig dinner and our first ever islander. There was no old business. The chapter also voted and approved our brotherhood retreat to be at Falcon Campground once again. We also had our first reading of our Chapter Bylaws.

Aril 16, 2013 Pledge Education Meeting #7 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

There was no guest speaker present at this meeting. Pledge educator Nick Santos covered Chapters 8 and 9 in the Purple Pilgrim and the pledges were tested on Chapter 7, our values and traditions.

April 22, 2013 Chapter Meeting #10 USU Huntington Room

This was our final business meeting of the semester. There were plenty of announcements as we were wrapping the semester up and speaking of the initiation of the newest members which would take place the following week. For old business the chapter passed the second reading of the Chapter Bylaws. We had pledge reviews as well by the chapter. We voted in favor to initiate all three pledges, however, Taylor Manchester’s initiation will have to be postponed until hopefully the beginning of the following semester given that he makes grades.

Aril 23, 2013 Pledge Education Meeting #8 Albury Unofficial FIJI House

This was the pledges final meeting. They had all passed their tests with a score of 80% or better and have proven that they are true FIJI gentlemen. They had one final hurdle to over come which was pledge Initiation week.

April 25, 2013 FIJI Islander The Reef

This event was huge for us as it was our first ever FIJI Islander. What we decided to do was through a nice party at The Reef in downtown Long Beach. We had buses shuttle our guests from campus to The Reef. There was well over 100 people in attendance. This was a huge step for us in expanding our relations with other Greek’s on campus.

April 27, 2013 Pig Dinner Costa Mesa Golf Course

We co-hosted this pig dinner with UCI. This event was very well planned with the help of our delegate Jonathan Canela. Everything ran smoothly and the Pig Dinner was exiting for both Graduate Brothers and Undergraduate Brothers of Iota Chi and Lambda Beta. Kerry Britton form our chapter executed the Exile’s Toast wonderfully. Both Presidents Nick Vuono from Lambda Beta and Ashot from Iota Chi gave great speeches. Another great point of this pig dinner was when the Corresponding secretaries of each respective chapter gave out awards to its members.

April 29, 2013 Eta Class Initiation Purple Legionnaire Aemon Fowler’s House

This marks the day where the Lambda Beta Chapter initiate two of its newest members, Marko Milosevic, and Andrew Montez. We are very excited to welcome these brothers to our fraternity and we are sure they will represent FIJI well.
