According to their Web site, the club has been active since 1971 when seven native students founded it to promote awareness of their culture and support each other in their educational goals. The club often attends special events where they dress in regalia as pictured. The council will host their “Native Celebration” event today in the Quad from 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. They will have an array of traditional dancing. Performers will include traditional, jingle and fancy shawl dancers. They will also be making fry bread, a traditional Native American food that resembles funnel cake.
