PRESS RELEASE 07072016 ALPINE OUT IN FORCE AT THE 2016 LE MANS CLASSIC • Three Official Renault Classic Alpines will compete in the 8th running of the Le Mans Classic July 8th, 9th and 10th • Several Alpine’s Le Manswinning models will be present at the legendary circuit • The SignatechAlpine team will be there with its World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) contender, the A460 that scored an LMP2 victory at Le Mans on June 19 • The Alpine Vision concept car will also be on show, alongside its illustrious forebears From day one, motor sport has been in Alpine’s genes. Before launching the marque to develop, build and sell sports cars, founder Jean Rédélé had been a driver of some distinction. Sixtyone years after its creation, the Alpine marque is still ready to take on a competitive challenge – and will underline as much from tomorrow when it takes part in the 8th running of the sumptuous automotive gathering that is the Le Mans Classic. For the 2016 edition, Renault Classic is entering three factory Alpines. They will be entrusted to topclass drivers who have previously competed for the marque in the Le Mans 24 Hours or else are well known within the motor sport industry. M65 (Grid 4), drivers: David Cheng/Stéphane Richelmi A110 (Grid 5), drivers: Christian Chambord/JeanPierre Prévost A443 (Grid 6), drivers Jean Ragnotti/Alain Serpaggi These three Alpines will be accompanied by other models that have been privately entered. Alpine’s Le Mans history Alpine contested the Le Mans 24 Hours 11 times between 1963 and 1978, entering 55 works cars during that period. -

Lì potevano ammirare un nuovo modello super ribassato ed estremamente dinamico che dimostrava chiaramente già dal primo sguardo di essere la più veloce auto sportiva stradale tedesca: la BMW M1, alta 1.140 mm, potente (277 CV) e veloce (ben oltre i 260 km/h). “Tutti sono corsi intorno alla nuova auto sportiva della BMW con motore centrale – scriveva la stampa – e l’elenco degli ordini in arrivo supera le più rosee aspettative. Per esempio, un appassionato americano di BMW ne ha già ordinati tre esemplari”. Era qualcosa di impressionante, considerando che, nel 1978, la super sportiva BMW aveva un prezzo di esattamente 100.000 marchi, abbastanza per acquistare quattro BMW 323is più un paio di optional extra. Sarebbe giusto dire che poche automobili erano attese con tanto entusiasmo ed aspettativa come la BMW M1, che rappresentava tutto il know-how della casa di Monaco in termini di sport motoristico. Communiqué de presse Press release Confidential C ALPINE EXHIBITION AT THE INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOBILE FESTIVAL OF THE INVALIDES: BETWEEN RESTROSPECTIVE AND PROSPECTIVE In 2015 Alpine chose the International Automobile Festival (FAI) to present the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo. In January 2018 the Alpine A110 receives the award for the most beautiful car of the year 2017. In 2020, Alpine chooses the FAI for an exhibition featuring historical, present and fantasized models, whose storyline is a back and forth between two eras and the richness of Alpine’s history as an inexhaustible source of inspiration. For its 3rd participation in the International Automobile Festival of the Invalides(Paris), Alpine has imagined an exhibition of new or little-known models to the general public: the A210 prototype, the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo, the A110 1800 – 1972 Gp4 driven by François Alessandri and Jean Pierre Manzagol, the A110 SportsX, an A110 "berlinette" 1300 of 1971 and the A110S. The A210 prototype In 1966, Alpine launched a new prototype designed exclusively for competition, the A210. It was used between 1966 and 1969 for Alpine's participation in the 24h Le Mans race. It will be victorious in 1966 thanks to the Grandsire/Cella crew and in 1968 with the Andruet/Nicolas crew. The Alpine A210 presented was manufactured in 1967. It has a Renault Gordini type 58 CI engine and is equipped with a Porsche gearbox. Its top speed is 270km/h, established on the Hunaudières straight in 1969. This A210 took part in the 24h Le Mans on June 14th 1969 with the Killy/Wollek crew. -

En Janvier 2018 l’Alpine A110 reçoit le prix de la plus belle voiture de l’année 2017. En 2020, Alpine choisit à nouveau le FAI pour une exposition mettant en scène des modèles historiques, présents et fantasmés avec pour trame centrale l’histoire d’Alpine comme source d’inspiration inépuisable. Pour sa 3ème participation au Festival Automobile International des Invalides (FAI), Alpine conçoit une exposition regroupant des modèles inédits ou peu connus du grand public : le prototype A210, l’Alpine Vision Gran Turismo, A110 1800 Gp4 – 1972 ex usine, l’A110 SportsX, une A110 « berlinette » 1300 de 1971 et l’A110S. Le prototype A210 En 1966, Alpine lance un nouveau prototype destiné exclusivement à la compétition, l’A210. Cette Alpine sera notamment utilisée entre 1966 et 1969 pour la participation d’Alpine aux 24h Le Mans. www.porscheroadandrace.com Conversations with Peter Gregg Published: 21st April 2017 By: Martin Raffauf Online version: https://www.porscheroadandrace.com/conversations-with-peter-gregg/ Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood won the 24 Hours of Daytona on 3/4 February 1973 driving this 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 Peter Gregg was the IMSA driver every one strived to beat. He started in the early ‘70s with Porsches and had done very well. He won the first championship in 1971, sharing a Porsche with Hurley Haywood in the GTU class (under 2.5-litre). By 1973 he was running the iconic Porsche Carrera RSR and he would win the IMSA title in 1973, 1974 and 1975. By then he was known as ‘Peter Perfect,’ always approaching his racing in a very professional way, trying to leave nothing to chance. In 1976, on one occasion IMSA would not allow the 934 to run, and he realised that the RSR would struggle, and so switched to the factory BMW CSL. www.porscheroadandrace.com He was beaten to the title by Al Holbert in a Chevrolet Monza. By 1977 IMSA had decided to allow a 934 ½ to run, but this was no ordinary 934, this was a specially made 934 with some permitted changes, sort of like a 934 on steroids. Peter Gregg and Guy Chasseuil finished in 14th place overall and third in the Grand Touring 3000 class in the 1973 Le Mans in the #48 911 Carrera RSR Peter Gregg showed up with one of these at Sebring and promptly sold the car to Jim Busby, as he had a second new one on the way. -

The ‚DRM’ (=Deutsche Rennsport-Meisterschaft) was the most important German racing series from 1972 to 1985, which got designed to establish a title with international meaning and relevance. 14 years of touring- and sports car racing of the highest level that motorsports can offer. Classic touring cars and GT were the start: The main features of the sports gear were stripped out, lightened car bodies, performance-enhanced engines and improved suspensions, transmissions and brakes. Stronger, lighter, faster - the tubular frame designs of Group 5 coupled with the turbo age are what subsequently gave the DRM probably the best and most spectacular races. Group C ultimately heralded the end: fascinating, thoroughbred racing cars, but simply too expensive for a national championship to offer the series a future.
